2016-2017 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
In the same boat here. Granted there are a few schools that are slightly worse but still, I feel irresponsible going to a school that'll cost me so much in the long run

I know how you feel, I was hoping that maybe doing well academically in my first year will open more doors for scholarships.

Do you guys think $7k a year less is worth picking another school?

So just got the token and UIN emailed to me and was able to view my award letter... I was awarded all loans to cover the full cost of attending as an OOS. Scares me to think I would be borrowing close to 100k to attend. Will have to compare to my financial award letter from my other acceptances before I make a decision. UIC is great but the cost is bone chilling as an OOS.

Is the ~100k for the whole 4 years or just one year?

According to a current student during my interview, they apparently waive like 10-15% of the OOS students tuition to the in state tuition price! You find out randomly though which is neat

How are y'all getting award letters? I emailed admissions and didn't get a response. Is the help query being mentioned from the home page of the portal?

Sent from my Pixel using SDN mobile

I haven't gotten an award summary or letter. I submitted my FAFSA in December.
I'm in the same boat; called the finaid office and was told finaid letters are just going out. So maybe wait a little longer, especially if you're not a current UIC student?

At the same time, it may be worth knowing that in my case, my finaid letter was actually sent to my undergrad email (somehow in their file from my first application years ago? lol, no longer even have access to that email). I called the main admissions and they changed the email address; called finaid office after and my preferred email was now updated in their system. They said they'd resend the email in the next day or so, which includes info for UIN and token (to create the portal and access the award summary, as was explained to me). They were really kind and prompt about it, which was great. So it may be worth calling and double checking that the email the finaid office has on file is your preferred one.

Just saw the same, is this a for sure acceptance?!?
From what I've read in this thread and from everyone I know that applied and ended up getting accepted, they had the box show up. There's a flowchart somewhere in this thread that basically outlines what different statuses mean

Incredible, so happy. Thanks for the info future classmate!

I'm so happy for you all! I know how tough these past couple months have been for myself, but to see others succeed just keeps the fire burning. Congrats 🙂

I also have a final decision made and the words "additional correspondence". My friend who was accepted a few months ago in December also had the famous "additional correspondence". But I am not fully convinced...

Just got an email saying I am accepted! The long wait and self-doubt is finally over. Interviewed 1/23 at Chicago.

Anyone else get four (identical) emails about checking my "award" letter throughout this week? I keep thinking something will change every time I get one of these, but nope
I don't know why, but this made me lol. One of those was probably meant for me because I've still received zero.

I haven't gotten a single e-mail about it.

Anyone send an email to them saying that he or she doesn't want the financial aid reminder every day haha; I even got one today - I think that's five days in a row. :/

The Hep B form is basically all the immunization requirements via castle branch. When you log into castle branch, it will list all the immunizations needed. You also need to send an official transcript from your college directly to UIC, they don't pull it from AMCAS

How did you find this out? Did UIC send you information? I never received information on how to turn in Hep B and transcriptS, so I figure it's not urgent...?

UIC did not sent a separate email, just the immunization paper/instructions included in the admission packet. Basically you need to sign up for a castle branch account using the UIC code, and uploads titers and your immunization record for the listed requirements. The UIC package code I used is UG31. I knew about it a while back because it is on their admissions website as a matriculation requirement. Your not behind in anyway, sign up and start uploading your immunizations.

Anybody know when merit scholarship are sent out? And will they send them out if you didn't complete the fafsa(I know for a fact I wouldn't get any help so I figured it wasnt worth it)
