If they say #UMichMedWednesday ** I might just throw my phone and laptop at a brick wall.

Edit: haha I'm already brain dead

Better yet Carol Sends us a tweet event invite.

I got a II from Stanford in my mail. I freaked out remembering I never even applied to Stanford. It was for their online open courses.

Seriously. It's crazy that we memorize the names of staff members for each school so much they become synonymous with the school itself.

Guys I might take one for the team and go walk over to the med school and do a silent protest in front of the dean's office

Only if you do it in this manner.

I'd say it's safe to say we'll have to wait until at least tomorrow before they send out more IIs

This was really irritating. Only thing that will make up for it will be that II.

What is fascinating reading this thread is that the more open a school is about it's process applicants have greater expectation surrounding following that process to a t. They could have never laid out this way of doing things and all the applicants would just assume IIs are sent out randomly and not freak out anytime there is an unpredictable issue sending them out. Speaks volumes on how transparency may lead to increased scrutiny.

I thought the same thing. The irony is uncanny.

You're right, but the scrutiny only exists when there are lapses in the process. When everything runs smoothly and II's go out every Monday, the anxiety level Tuesday - Sunday is greatly reduced. I don't have the data anymore, but I analyzed the distribution of posts on the UofM thread by days of the week and well over half of all activity occurs on Mondays. Less activity could be indicative of less premed neuroses during that time frame.

Speaking on my own behalf, I'd rather cram all the anxiety into one day rather than have uncertainly linger in my brain 24/7.

Yeah, the point was that they didn't have to share their process with us. Like other schools they could have said nothing about their practices and everyone would not jump to criticize or complain about the lapse because there would be no idea that a lapse even occured. I appreciate their transparency and I think we should keep in mind that most schools don't provide us with the courtesy of even disclosing their process before going full "omg this is the worst" .

Exactly, the 5 year applications at a glance infographic is infinitely more information than a lot of schools provide.

Also, this is the type of constructive discussion the University of Michigan has to look forward to if they accept the fine denizens of this thread. Just saying.

I just think theres a high concentration of people in this thread in desperate need of a hobby.....

Yeah, I'm never really on this site after work. But at work, I'm at my desk most of the day and it makes the temptation of looking at this site and neurotically checking my emails hard to resist.

It is kinda weird that the twitter went from - "Don't worry now it's UMichMedTuesday", to then completely ignoring it for two days lol.

Maybe they don't want to announce an official day because they haven't figured out the problem yet and don't want to apologize multiple times. It would have made sense still to say a quick "Nvm!" On Tuesday.

I figure they'll double up next Monday

On the bright side, if there are delays at UMich there are probably delays in many other schools. There seems to be an even greater increase in applicants this year over many other years. UMich already has nearly 700 more applicants than last year and that was in September.

Made a post in the wrong thread, so I'll just copy+paste here. In the 5 year snapshot, in the "applications received" column, are they talking about secondaries? I'm feeling like I made a donation to UMich with my October complete date. It says 22 II for applications after September hahahaha.

Yep. It's referencing secondaries. They're super heavy on rolling admissions :/
