I wouldn't be surprised if Michigan was trying to schedule more OOS applicants who need to travel for their interviews earlier in the season, and saving more IS invites for the dec/jan dates. Makes for less re-scheduling due to inclement weather impeding travel plans (which must be a nightmare for the admissions team). Also, AA is definitely more enticing when you visit on a crisp Fall day during football season than in the middle of a January blizzard. I predict a wave of IS II coming soon 🙂

I've been in AA in October and it snowed, it knows no season.

The issue is more the superstar OOS get multiple admission offers, usually by the October traffic date, and then start canceling other interviews.
U of M wants to compete for the best of the best, so they do offer the superstars early interviews so they get a chance to interview them before they start dropping other schools when they get into their first choice.

I was not a superstar, was offered a December Interview date in Sept as IS, but someone canceled their interview and I got bumped to interview in early November.

So i have a theory that IS invites will start going out end of October. 324 invites already sent out only 100 more to go if all of them were OOS before they switch.
