So is everyone interviewed guaranteed a decision on the 20th of that month?
A december 20th acceptance would probably be the best christmas gift ever.....

Accepted today!!!!! I saw Carol's email in my inbox, but it was fairly nondescript. I was expecting to hear back tomorrow, so I told myself I'd check the link later.

Then Dean Gay called me. I started crying on the phone - my first medical school acceptance!! I absolutely loved UMich when I interviewed, and the video is incredible!

Hmmm, a couple of years ago, my brother interviewed first week of December. Adcoms did't meet in December for the 2 interview dates in Dec, so his decision was in January. They tell you at the interview day when your decision will come.

There is a funny story about my brother's acceptance (out of the country at the time, our Mom found out about it a day ahead of time). Read about in last years thread.

So my interview is (a long) 6 weeks away and Im already driving myself crazy over it. This was my #1 choice at the beginning of the cycle and Im desperately hoping I don't screw up my shot lol

I'm sure you'll do fine, UMich Med has some of the best people on their admissions committee so don't freak out 🙂
If anyone should worry, it's me -- I submitted my app late and now I'm scared I won't get an interview

My advice would be to prepare as much as you can, and then go into the interview day relaxed and knowing you did all you could do.

same!! when were you complete?

I'm a little late to the party but... I could not be more excited about my UMich acceptance!!!
Question for current students - what are my next steps? Do we really have to wait until May 1st to accept the offer?
No, second look weekend is in April!! Congrats to you.

It is interesting that they tweeted out one or two weeks ago that they were only halfway through UMichMedMondays, but the avaliable dates for the IIs are the final four dates (according to the interview schedule).

They have also sent out 440 IIs, meaning there is probably only 100 or so IIs left (I think they sent out 540 IIs last year).

The pace of II's drops of dramatically towards the end. The january umichmed mindays last year only had maybe 5 or 6 II's each.

Halfway through the number of Mondays, but more than 75% through the number of IIs.

I'm sure many of the remaining IIs will be for reschedules throughout the rest of the season.

Hello. I have been extended an interview and have finished the MIC. I was wondering if there is any other confirmation that we have completed our pre-interview requirements besides the timestamped email regarding the MIC. For example, how do we know if our photo and HIPAA certification have been received and are sufficient?

They will email you if they are missing something.

Congratulations to everyone who has gotten accepted so far! You're all getting me so pumped for my interview on Friday. This is my first choice school and I'm nervous but also excited

Do you think they are going to send any more OOS IIs? or am I out of luck ? 🙁

complete early sept, LM: 77-78

U of M is a rolling admission school, so you were a little late to the party, as they favor earlier apps (that is no secret).
Not out of luck yet, they will get to your app, but over 400+ II issued, more than 75% of the slots are already allocated to the early birds.
Hang tight, your Lizzy M is more than adequate, it is just the competition for remaining slots is higher later in the season.

Iirc, you have a ton of research experience, right? If so, you're right up their alley and you'll get a fair shot even though you're on the later ends

OOS applicant with a low LizzyM...should I withdraw at this point given the # of interviews given out (complete since July)

Whats the point of withdrawing? If your app is in, you have a shot. If you withdraw it, you have no shot. It doesn't cost you any more to stay in the game.
Agreed. No point in withdrawing. Can someone let me in on why I'm seeing this more and more on the threads? Why would anyone withdraw an application in these situations? Seems illogical to me

Thank you both for the reassurance! 🙂

yep! I have research experience and I am doing research during gap year too so hopefully they give me a chance to interview. 🙂

Most likely the folks withdrawing have acceptances from their choice school(s).

Got one too! They keep pushing that Michigan difference, and I love everything about it.
