2017-2018 Albert Einstein College of Medicine

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm waiting on the finaid package too. I emailed them a couple weeks ago and they basically said we'll get it to you when we get to you.

I got accepted in Feb and I still haven't gotten my fin aid package... They also seem to be having issues receiving my FAFSA somehow
Very frustrating 😛

I received a HPWL in early march, and responded to their email (a few days later, I was sick) with the online portal acceptance, and also a brief letter of intent. Should I send in another letter of intent or just wait it out?

I would wait it out...I don't see the need for 2 LOI's

If you’ve done Certiphi for one school at which you’ve received an acceptance, Certiphi will not contact you again for any subsequent schools.
Hey thanks for the reply. I called the office today and they just got access to my CBC!

Could any current students provide information on the Biochem program? Would you recommend doing it? Need to make my decisions ASAP to book my international flights...
Didn't do it, doesn't seem to affect anything. Nice to move in early, though. Might be good if you're a nontrad and out of school for a while.

A follow up question to what you said:

When do students typically move in if they are not participating in that prep class? I'm trying to figure out when various schools start vs move in.

Hey everybody, I'm the class rep for the current MS1 class. I know it's a little late to the game but I made the facebook group for accepted students. SDN won't let me post a link, but look up "Albert Einstein College of Medicine - Class of 2022" and you should find my beautiful creation there. Congrats to everyone and I'm excited to see you all at orientation. If you have any questions about Einstein or the timeline of the next few months, there's a bunch of us over there excited to help out. See y'all in a few short months!

^Just to clarify because I found out there's another group with the same name, the url (added onto facebook) is:
groups/AECOM2022

Sorry, what’s the other group for then? I was already part of that onr

Just waitlisted from 3/9 group! How do you know if it is regular WL or HPWL?

If your WL is high priority, the email subject says "HIGH PRIORITY," probably if your email says waitlist, then you are in the regular WL pool
But if you were waitlisted in March, none of those said "High Priority." I was HPWL in march and it was the email that asked me to respond to the email to say if I was still interested. I got in a week ago off of the WL

Just called the office and was told that “high priority waitlist means you’ll *likely* be accepted shortly”.

Has anyone from the end of February heard back yet? Still sitting in silence 🙁

High priority waitlist just now, interviewed March 20. Turned it down, with a pang... Wonderful place and I loved it very much, but I know it's not gonna happen... Good luck everyone else!

I just called for some clarification and they said "there's only one waitlist". Now I am 10x more confused!!

Anyone who received the High Priority emails... mind saying if your email asked you to respond if you were still interested? Did your email say they are now in "rolling admissions status"? The emails we received in March did not distinguish between HP and regular.

Yes to both, asked to respond (directly by email, and through a link). Also said the thing about "rolling admissions status"

Asked to respond how I feel about possibly attending. Yes to rolling admissions. Title of email was simply "EINSTEIN - HIGH PRIORITY".

Ugh. I wonder if they have accepted anyone directly the past two months or if everyone is just being placed and pulled off the WL. Seems like that has been the experience recently

That sounds dope! Is this class only open to certain incoming students?

Got an email today:

EINSTEIN - HIGH PRIORITY

I am happy to inform you that the Committee on Admissions has completed its review of your application, and was very impressed with your academic strengths, and your service to your school and community. At this time, we are in rolling admissions status.

We appreciate how important this status may be to you, and we want to be able to answer your questions, and support you through the remainder of the application process as much as we can.

We are eager to hear how you feel about possibly attending Einstein, and would appreciate your responding directly to this email. In addition, please check the appropriate box on the following webpage: blah blah

If we do not hear from you by April 26, we may assume that you are no longer interested in Einstein, and will withdraw your name from the list. If you answer, "yes," on the webpage that you would like to hold your place, and then change your mind in the future, you may log back in and change your selection to "no." At that point, you will be removed from further consideration.

If you have any problem logging into the system, please let us know via email at: blah blah

Whatever you decide, it was our pleasure to meet you. We hope that you will attain your goal of attending a school that is well suited for you, and that we will have the opportunity to meet you at some point during your medical career.

Thank you and good luck!
Dean Kerrigan

I called the admissions office to ask and they told me there is no such thing as a High Priority Waitlist vs. Regular Waitlist, there is just 1. However it seems from this thread that there is some sort of distinction. Wondering if @Lulabo can attach the waitlist email they received, which was apparently HPWL, so we can figure out what's going on.

Note: Had to edit email slightly because SDN won't let me post links.

I'm actually starting to suspect that there really isn't a HPWL, but rather we get the impression of that from the fact that "HIGH PRIORITY" appears in the subject line. Perhaps that is merely a reflection of the requirement to reply within 2 weeks, or something like that--not a second wait list.

Otherwise, I can't understand why they deny something that they don't even try to hide in the email...

In March we got the same exact email but the subject was EINSTEIN so there is a HPWL and anyone with the above email is on it. Just this month the subject line was different

Honestly they probably changed the subject of the email because last month people thought they were accepted based on the contents of the email and “congratulations” and “happy to inform you”

Did everyone get the biochemistry class email? I would be interested in attending but I didn't get any email.

I think I only got that email because I emailed Ms. Sweeney to confirm if I submitted all the forms they requested. Pretty sure the biochem course is for everyone!

I'm a bit confused by some of the wording in the housing application. After submitting it, are we just assigned a studio, 1 bedroom, or 2 bedroom? It says they want to accommodate our preferences, but there's not really anything on the form that allows us to specify that except for on the waiting list page, which also says "not intended for initial assignment" at the top. So is the waiting list page meant to be mailed with the actual application and payment, or is it meant to be sent later in the event we don't get a housing assignment? Additionally, it says 1 and 2 bedroom apartments are only assigned to couples with studios having a 2-3 year wait list, which is a little concerning given that the cheap housing is what makes Einstein a viable financial option for me. Is there a significant chance we don't receive a housing assignment?

Hey! so i dont know if your housing application looks like the one I had two years ago, but I remember there was not a checkbox anywhere for preference on housing assignments. I ended up writing in that i would prefer a 1 bedroom (which actually fits two people) in the "additional information" section at the bottom, and I ended up getting a 1 bedroom spot. As for the waitlist form, its mainly for couples who are trying to get a 1 bedroom or singles who are trying to get a studio (first year singles will normally be put in 1 or 2 bedroom apts unless you are MSTP). I sent that in with the rest of the application to be put on the waitlist for a studio. Not sure what the whole "1 or 2 bedrooms are only assigned to couples" means because there are definitely singles in one or two bedroom apts. Don't worry, housing is very much guaranteed to the whole class unless you are accepted pretty late into the summer but I still know some people who were accepted late and still managed to get a spot.
