2017-2018 University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Are the letters being sent to your permanent or current address?

Would you be willing to share your stats?
Sure - I took the MCAT twice this past summer, scoring 507 and 515. My GPA was around a 3.35 with 8 credits from UALR. I go to a private liberal arts school in Memphis. My gpa had been trending upward significantly since freshman year, getting 3.5+ from sophomore, junior, and senior years.

Letters are coming in NWA! I've had 2 friends call with updates... Check your mailboxes, people! Good luck!!!

I got alternate. For those of you that are re-apps is it possible to find out what tier I am on in the waitlist?

Does anyone know how many people are put on the waitlist? I saw 50 in an earlier forum, but that seems very small.

I have heard 50 before, but I have no idea if that's accurate or not.

Wow letters are arriving fast! For those who've received letters, were they mailed priority or standard usps? Trying to determine if I need to make plans to camp by my mailbox tomorrow.

So not to be the annoying person who asks for stats, but if anyone is willing to share no matter your status Id appreciate it.

Hey everyone! I'm also new to the thread. Got my letter in December and wanted to know about the student FB group and what the current student meant about cleaning up our Facebook.

Also is there some kind of event like a second look where we get to meet people and check stuff out?
Dr. Mclachlin,
Will not add you into the Facebook group unless you’re name on FB is your government name. Also you don’t have to clean up your Facebook you’re already in but it’s weird to have Dr. Mclachlin or Tom South add you to the Facebook group and your profile picture is you barfing in a toilet. Lol

Congratulations to all those accepted. Make sure you hurry up and apply for any scholarships (i didn’t don’t be like me) and those who decide to do the MedEd ready program You’ll get to meet me. Enjoy your summer the hard part is over.

MCAT, GPA, and congressional district. Really whatever you are willing to share. I guess I should share mine as well (Waitlist 504, 3.9, D2)

Accepted, MCAT: 510 (124, 132, 124, 130) CUM GPA: 3.49, BCPM 3.72, D3. Chemistry major with bio and philosophy minors and departmental honors. Also did research in biomedical engineering and had several years of pretty intense medical experience working in CVOR, along with tons of volunteer stuff going back to when I was 15. I'm 36 now (how's THAT for nontraditional! ), so I figured I'd better throw everything I had into it to try to make up for my rather lackluster academic start... Just to give you an idea, I got a C in my freshman year in a class called "Walk/Jog." Was a bit of a transition jumping back in when I hadn't had a chemistry class in 17 years or so, but I'd do every minute of it over and then some if I had to. I want this more than I've ever wanted anything in my life. Can't wait to meet all of you guys! Good luck to the waitlist crew, and definitely check out the Rural Practice Program if that's something you are interested in anyway... Bumps you up to the top of the list!

Can it be August already? I am SO READY to get started!!!

Accepted D3
3.96/4.0/504 (124,126,126,128)
Honors Biology Major
Strong EC/Leadership roles in college, honors research but no publication, ~60 hours medical related volunteering and shadowing.
I was worried about my 124 C/P score and relatively low volunteering, but I had my GPA and extracurriculars to back me up. That and I had some incredible letter writers.

Does anyone know when we will find out about PhD if you applied for that as well!!!

When do they add you?

When do they add you?
I think I was added last year around April.

If anyone has any questions before then, feel free to PM me or ask away on here. The Facebook page will be loaded with everything you will need for school (more resources than you will ever use) and the move to Little Rock (houses will be posted on there as well as opinions on apartment complexes). Congratulations on the acceptances! The hard part is over!

Got my letter in the mail today, ACCEPTED!!! Over the moon, SO excited to get started this August!! Congrats to all you fellow members of the class of 2022!

If you didn’t get in this time, TRY AGAIN!! I was a reapplicant and it was so stressful to reapply but it was so worth the effort. Never give up!!
