Got an II last week as well. I believe the last date for interviews on the calendar was in the second/third week of February

Congrats on the acceptance ... I got my waitlist notification 🙁

I currently live in Charlottesville. Leasing for the more professional and graduate student area around UVA doesn't start until about March and goes later into the spring and summer. I live in a grad student only apartment and they don't start leasing here until March or later. It's only the undergraduate heavy area that is crazy early.

Congrats!! I have say, I respect the hell out of how fast UVA's turnaround time usually is after interviewing.

Yeah but those two days drastically increased the bioavailability of my damn cortisol, let me tell you...

I feel you but I'd take that over the decreased bioavailability of my serotonin as the weeks slide into months after interviewing and the silence becomes deafening.

You’re right, it’s a balance. I definitely wasn’t complaining; it’s really cool how quick they are 🙂

Y'all are killing me. Too funny. While I'd love an interview here, it's kind of an awkward location for my husband. But, Charlottesville is so beautiful and we really love the school! Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Quick question - I had an update that I wrote over a week ago and am embarrassed to admit that I have not sent. Are we supposed to email updates? I figure it's far too late at this point, but if I'm going to be rejected regardless, I might as well send an update... I didn't see a place to upload it to the portal, so I wasn't sure how to go about sending it in.

Email the general admissions office and they’ll add it to your file

I completed this application sometime in July and haven't heard a word, but it seems like people are still getting interviews? I'll keep my hopes up for this school.

Are you IS or OOS? My gut feeling is that IS are getting dem interviews later on...at least that’s a general pattern I’m seeing

Yeah but there are no hard and fast rules this late in the cycle. Again this is just my uneducated opinion. You never know if someone cancels and interview etc, and you’ll get it. Don’t freak out based on my (likely) ignorant observations.

:’( I’m OOS complete late July, silence so far. Hoping I can join you guys soon

Hey, as far as the interview day goes, this one was very relaxed. I liked that it didn't start super early. You start with an overview of the curriculum and the school and then two student will take you to lunch (which is AMAZING) and you can ask them anything. Then you go on a tour of the campus and facilities (wear shoes you don't mind walking on cobblestones with). After that you have 2, 30-minute interviews, one of which may be with a 4th year student. The interview itself if very laid back, no challenging questions or ethics stuff. They asked me about my extracurriculars and what specialties I was interested in. Try to have one or two questions for them. You should have some time in between interviews to relax and reset and the other applicants were nice. Hope this helps!! I got my acceptance the Friday of that same week.
Thank you for the feedback TT_TT I'm super nervous for this.
I've found that the high tier schools tend to have at least one mortifying interviewer. Hopefully this goes well :xf:

Do people tend to have an idea of UVA's post II acceptance rate?

Depends on if your are IS or OOS. Numbers for last year from the MSAR:
IS interviews: 136 -- IS matriculated: 78 =~57% for IS
OOS interviews: 357 -- OOS matriculated: 76 =~21% OOS
However, schools tend to accept more students than matriculate (and each school is different on the number of extra acceptances they send), so perhaps a little higher than the above numbers.

Data from 2016 USNWR
UVA Interviewed: 549 Accepted: 403 Matriculated: 156 % accepted post Interview: 73.4

In case anyone was wondering, I emailed the Admissions Office to find out when class starts, and I was given this temporary schedule:
  • Orientation Wednesday, August 1st - Tuesday, August 7th
  • White Coat Ceremony Friday, August 10th
If we have to be in class on the first of the month, moving to Charlottesville will be tough...

Any idea why the matriculation rate is so low compared to the amount accepted?

Where do most of the med students live?

Hi everyone, I'm a M1 at UVA. I got a lot from this thread last year so I figured I'd pay it forward.

Please let me know if you have any questions! Either through this thread or by PM, I'll try to respond ASAP

Any idea of what the typical waitlist movement is here?
