2019-2020 Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM-Colorado)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
🙁 I'm shocked. What do you think might have caused your rejection? your stats are great. I'm probably gonna get rejected if you are.
I honestly have no idea. If there is anything I have learned about this process is that it is super unpredictable. I would keep your head up and hope for the best! You could have something they are really looking for and get an interview!

With that GPA and MCAT combo, they probably think the applicant would have success at an MD school and so would rather reserve the spot for someone else. Just a speculation.

I believe it was someone from admissions at RVU earlier in the thread who stated that they don't practice yield protection. Just anecdotally I had a similar LM to that applicant above, and I believe your LM is above both of ours haha. It seems to me that RVU also puts a lot of focus on having their students excel at their board exams, and I think it would be counter-intuitive to deny academically strong candidates.

Ideally, that would be the case but medical schools work in a way that only gods will know. It’s truly a mystery. But what I can confidently say is that this whole process is more than just numbers so apply broadly, continue to improve your app during this process in case you have to reapply, and just pray for the best. Good luck and remember to self-care.

Do they send rejection emails or do you just have to check the portal??

Got the Rocky Vista secondary while watching Rocky Balboa. Needless to say, I'm excited!

Any1 staying at the ramada hotel during interviews? I made the reservation before checking the reviews and now I'm getting worried about sleeping there lol

Interviewed here this past week and just wanted to leave some quick feedback!

I really enjoyed my time at RVU, and I'm glad it was my first interview of the season. My interviewers were very kind, and it genuinely felt like a low-stress, conversational interview (though there were several groups of interviewers, so YMMV). The school facility itself was much bigger than I originally pictured going off the website, and all the rooms/labs looked well maintained. I'm glad we had a fairly small group of interviewees, as I feel like I had the chance to talk to most of them throughout the day. From speaking with the student guides, the student body sounded like they were a collaborative/easygoing bunch (P/F/H curriculum).

Both my interviewers as well as the faculty/students were very receptive to any questions, so make sure you bring some if you're curious about anything! Parker seemed like a pretty quiet suburb, and Denver was beautiful (first time in CO for me). Feel free to PM if you have any questions! 🙂

Anybody interviewing tomorrow and want to split a Lyft back to the airport after? haha

Finished secondary on 8/13 but my status is still an applicant. How long does it take to get to File Complete?

Got my first R yesterday. Sounds like I'm in a similar boat as many of y'all. 3.8sGPA 513 MCAT, with over a thousand clinical hours and even more volunteer, leadership, and research. I was also particularly proud of my secondary essays, as I was really interested in this school. Not sure what metrics they're using to select their class.

That is so wild. This whole process never ceases to amaze me with its randomness.

got an R too 🙁 not sure why either. all my essays were so specific towards this school and in my opinion well written

If I selected no preference for the campus, and got an II at Utah then am I only being considered for Utah now?

Correct. Once they select you to one of the campuses, you're only considered for that one from then on. FYI, there is a RVU Utah thread you should check out!

interviewed on wednesday. they said decisions are likely to come tuesday or wednesday of next week because of the holiday.

Accepted!! 🙂 I'm at work so I wasn't able to take the call, but just listened to the voicemail now.

Congrats guys! I interview tomorrow. How fast was the turnaround for you between interview and acceptance?

I interviewed on 8/21, so it was about 2 weeks for me. But depending on when the adcoms meet and when you interview, you might hear back in 1-2 weeks.

How long did it take for your LOR to be processed? I submitted my application 8/20, and they still have yet to review my letters. :/
