Amen to this. Did you email Ms Diane or Strother? I’m always nervous about contacting them since I don’t want to pester with info that is already available to me, but my anxiety though is through the roof! Lol.

I emailed Ms. Harris and she told me she would update me when the letter has been signed, but she hadn’t reached out for several days. I also emailed Dr. Strother this morning and have not received a response.

To anyone on the ZOOM today, did they mention if the committee met yesterday or give a timeline of anything about hearing back?
No timeline or mention of a committee meeting 🙁 they did make it a point that UTHSC doesn't require you to Commit To Enroll until July 20th, but I know that is not helpful for people who need to narrow it down to one school by 4/30 per the AAMC.

I also asked about scholarships and financial aid--they said scholarships should be going out this week, but to contact the financial aid office independently because they (the deans & admin) don't know 🙂

I honestly think they're being selective about which emails they respond to. They're probably "withholding" information until they have a for sure answer.

I haven’t seen these dates posted so hopefully this is helpful, especially for people who got their hold letter before the wave of COVID-19 changes. This is what my hold later from mid-March said:

“Due to the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19, the Admissions Committee will make all final decisions by April 30. If a final decision has not been made by April 30 you will be notified via email.

Students not offered an acceptance from the hold category during the regular admissions cycle will be placed on the alternate list and an alternate letter will be post mailed no later than May 8.”

Also, last year people who were accepted directly from the hold list (i.e. they were never placed on the alternate list) were able to see their acceptance on the “Choose your medical school” tool on AMCAS before they received any change of status in the mail.

I wonder if this has changed any since March. It seems there are still so many people who don't even know if they're on hold, accepted, or rejected yet.

Still waiting to hear my verdict after my interview on 4/16. I haven't received an email in regards to a letter or anything quite yet. Im assuming those who zoom interviewed within the past 2-3 weeks are in the same boat. I'm just attributing it to the backlog of apps they are trying to get through and interview because of this Covid mess. Just keeping my fingers crossed! Hoping to hear something one way or another soon. Any zoom interviewers from the past few weeks heard anything or received any correspondence?

Was around the same time, haven't heard a peep. Fingers crossed for tomorrow or sometime this week?

I interviewed that week as well (4/13) and haven't heard anything either. Hope we hear soon, fingers crossed!

Interviewed in early March. Letter was supposed to be mailed on 4/10 and again on 4/17. Nothing on Choose Your Medical School so I’m sure it’s R or H but it would still be nice to know.

I think everyone would still have to abide by AAMC narrow acceptances to one rule by April 30 so there has to be some sort of movement around then?

That's in a few days so I hope so!

I didn't have my interview until this week. So I certainly haven't heard anything yet. I'm remaining hopeful as well. I don't imagine covid changed our chances. Just the timeline unfortunately.

Interviewed in feb. on hold ever since. Honestly have been losing faith as this is literally my dream school ):
Really hoping all of us on hold gets in!
Same here been on hold since jan but I know people who have been on hold since November and gotten in so it's not over until it's over!

No idea. I'm in the same boat. It would be pretty cool if they went back to making phone calls or just sending emails instead of us waiting on post mail..whenever it goes out

Back in October, they said the reason they don’t do decisions by email is that one year there was a mistake and they sent false A’s to people’s email. So I doubt they’ll do email this year. Maybe phone calls though

If they accidentally accept me, do I get to keep the acceptance as long as I say no take-backsies?

Not to make people break their refresh buttons on Friday but...per AMCAS, medical schools must "From May 1 to the first day of class, notify AMCAS of all admissions actions within 24 hours." This is relevant because last year the committee made final decisions on May 3. People who were accepted directly from the hold list saw an acceptance on the "Choose Your Medical School" tool on the afternoon of May 3.

so if we find something out after april 30, how long will we have to make a decision if we are holding another acceptance?

got an email from diane harris, looks like they will be making all final decisions this friday and sending final decision letters by the next friday
Was this sent to everyone on hold or was this a direct reply from Mrs. Harris? My application was discussed on the 10th but I haven’t heard anything since.

"If you receive additional acceptances following April 30, it is your responsibility to promptly notify any school(s) you have decided to not attend. Your decision should be made by the deadline established by the medical school(s)."

So, theoretically, if someone is taken off waitlist and given an acceptance it will show up in CYMS on May 1st-2nd?

Has anyone has gotten any scholarship information this week? Curious bc they mentioned in the second look Zoom that those would be coming soon!

I emailed financial aid and they indicated that they will start sending notices of financial aid/scholarship information next week to our UTHSC emails.

To our UTHSC emails or to our Banner? I haven't been able to access my UTHSC email after I received info on it.

Hey guys! So I am from out of state (a totally different region of the country actually) but I worked in Memphis last summer and I fell in love! I know that UTHSC primarily draws from in state, so does anyone have advice on: 1) how to stand out to them as an out of state applicant; 2) how to convince them that I really want to go here and that I'm not just applying to every med school I can; and 3) whether or not it is practical for me to apply here/what my chances are?

Just make sure to show your interest to the people who will be reviewing your application. And tell them why you like Memphis/uthsc so much.

Be well-prepared for “why Tennessee?” and why you are willing to pay out of state tuition to go there. I got absolutely grilled in my first interview of the day by an interviewer. He encouraged me to defer a year if I was accepted and come to TN to work so I could qualify for in-state tuition. He could not understand why I didn’t want to take a gap year or why I would pay out of state tuition to go to medical school.

Just got a call from Dr. Presbury, got a scholarship. I assume $Z for 4 years means $Z total, and not $Z x 4. I was so happy about even just the amount that I didn't even clarify lol
I got a call as well from him today - he specified though for me that the amount was for each year. I truly don’t know if that helps but you might be getting 4 times more than you think my friend!

My decision is still coming in the mail but since UT doesn't come up on CYMS should I assume it's a R or H?

So per AAMC guidelines, is it safe to assume that there should be some movement now but we won't hear back till next week? Will they call or mail? For those waiting in the mail, I suggest signing for upcoming mails in USPS via email. (I looked like an idiot before trying to open mail for gazillion times a day. lol)

I wouldn’t expect movement today because 1) we don’t know if the committee is meeting today but we do know they meet tomorrow 2) students don’t have to narrow down to one school until tonight at 11:59pm so schools will probably run their accepted students reports tomorrow morning 3) AMCAS is currently experiencing “technical difficulties” with the “Choose your medical school tool” so who knows if April 30 will even be the deadline anymore.

Disclaimer: I am speculating like crazy and like every else on here (unless they are secretly a UTHSC adcom), I don’t really know anything about when stuff will happen.

Did anyone get an email from Diane Harris? I just did saying my decision letter is on the way...
Well that's frustrating, still no email here. Zoom interviewed 4/16. Glad you guys are hearing something. Maybe I will receive something soon.
