Has anyone who is interviewing on September 25th received any information about the student social after submitting the form?

Are there people who completed their supplemental mid-August-ish but are still waiting for an II? I'm getting a bit uneasy over here

I agree with the earlier post, it's probably still too early to panic. I was complete early Aug with a 3.8X/52X and I haven't heard back yet either. I'm sure there's still plenty of time for that ii!

How do we register for the pre-interview social? It might be my browser, but I'm just seeing a blank page when I click the link in the invite email.

When does interview schedule get sent out? Interviewing tomorrow and havent received anything

I kinda fell off the planet for 1 month. Do you guys think it's too late to submit a secondary here?

Current BCM student here. Just wanted to chime in for those still worried about getting an II. I think I submitted my application in August and didn't get an II until mid-December!

Just curious, but are you guys fully online due to covid or do you guys still have to go on campus this semester?

We still go on campus, albeit far less frequently.

Ms1's have preceptor + anatomy lab, Ms2's have preceptor + clinical prep sessions. Campus is open for studying (with some restrictions). Lectures are all online.

I was barely marked complete for BCM on 9/15. I didn’t know AMCAS took soooo long to verify apps. Will it hurt my chances that I was complete so late?

They normally interview through February or March I think, and all admission decisions are on a rolling basis so I think you should be just fine! Best of luck!

also wondering this

If you're a TX resident and your stats are competitive with their class profile, I would submit it. Baylor is an AMCAS school meaning that their timeline shifts a little later than other TX/TMDSAS programs so there won't, theoretically, be as much of a disadvantage for submitting later in the cycle. If your stats are on the lower end of their profile or you are an OOS applicant, I would aim your decision more along the financial impact of the application fee (if any). Remember, Baylor commits to at least 90% of their class being TX residents so factor that in when weighing your decision, if you're an OOS applicant.

Anyone know how seriously this school is taking VITA? Felt like my responses were slightly below average and the lighting became awful midway through (too late for me to move).

^ Would also like to know how much people think VITA will impact admissions decisions.

I doubt that it will weigh heavily, but I think it is always better to assume it will. I don't understand why schools want an additional piece of an application to look over.

Unfortunately, I do think they’re using it pretty seriously. On interview day, they said that two different people would be reviewing your VITA as part of the interview profile, and the only other component is the one-on-one interview (so you essentially have 3 people who provide interview feedback)

Crazy how it seems the VITA has more weight than the live interview lmao...

Would it be crazy to send a LOI post-II this early?

According to Baylor's admissions FAQs, you may send UPDATES pre-interview but not post-interview. You may send a LOI post-interview, but no more updates. However, it will probably be/seem more reasonable and rational to do so a little later.

"May I send updates to my application?
Yes, if you have not received an invitation to interview at Baylor then you can send updates to [email protected]. If or when you receive an invitation to interview, updates to your application will not be accepted. Those who have interviewed may send "letters of intent" to the VIA email address provided during interview days, but not updates to their application."

You think it could sway my decision in a positive way? Lol

How does the LOI work? This is my first time hearing about it

A letter on intent (LOI) is sent post-interview (if the specific school accepts them; check their website/admissions FAQs to find out) to notify the school that they are essentially your first choice program, and you would absolutely attend them if you got an acceptance. If you have any hesitations about attending a school, then you should generally hold off on sending a LOI. As it is likely already implied, you should not send a LOI to multiple schools. There are also Letters of Interest that can be used to show fit/strong interest in attending a particular program post-interview, but on a level that is less committal than a Letter of Intent.

It is also an opportunity to succinctly explain why you are a great fit with their program and maybe slip in an update or two (if also allowed by the program). Baylor does not allow post-interview updates, but does accept Letters of Intent.

LOI are typically sent much later in the cycle, as the Spring decision season gets closer. They can also be used by waitlisted applications to show continued interest in a particular program, hopefully nudging the needle enough for them to score a coveted waitlist acceptance.

Here's a SDN article from a couple of years ago that spells them out in a bit more detail: Are You Ready for Commitment? When and How to Write a Letter of Intent

Thanks for the explanation! When would it be a good time to send one if I have already interviewed?

Personally, I would not send a LOI until they begin sending out acceptances. You want to show them you have patience and respect their decision timeline, yet also still be active in the application process to show your continued interested in the particular program — it can be a tricky line to walk. Plus, sending a LOI later in the cycle will give you a wider perspective of all the other programs you have interviewed at and, hopefully, give your LOI more substantive, well-informed points for why Baylor is your top choice. I would think December at the earliest and more like Jan/Feb would be the best time to send them. If you are waitlisted (hope that isn't the case for you!), you could also send one then if you did not send one earlier.

LOIs can, sometimes, have more weight from applicants holding acceptances at other schools, as it shows the program that you're really committed to them despite having other acceptances in hand. Understandably, waiting to send a LOI later in the cycle will also give more time for other desired acceptances to arrive.

@wysdoc is the best when it comes to TX school advice -- hopefully she sees then and can chime in, too!

LOIs are sent to schools where you plan to commit but have not received an admission but have admissions somewhere else. Shouldn't be sent before they announce the first round of admissions but have missed you although you have interviewed early on.

It is also used to update schools on something new since your application.

Is there a rule not to send thank you letters directly to interviewers? please help

At my interview, they told us to send thank-you's to the post-interview email they gave, so that's what I did. I didn't get a response but I'm assuming it's okay.
