So did yall just submit without the line breaks in the print application page?

"Indicate any special experiences, unusual factors or other information you feel would be helpful in evaluating you, including, but not limited to, education, employment, extracurricular activities, prevailing over adversity. Do you guys think it would be ok to include a diversity essay here?

'Tis what I did.

Any current students available to answer questions?

1. Could you elaborate about the curriculum on more of a weekly basis for M1-2? Is it mostly lecture? PBL? How much is mandatory attendance?

2. Coming from a smaller city, what do you think about Houston? Would it be difficult to live in the suburbs?

3. Any thoughts about the facilities? Heard they are a bit dated but OBVIOUSLY the clinical facilities are unmatched.

4. Do most students do clinical research or basic? Is there a competitive nature around it?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but do you think a leadership essay might go well here? I'm trying to decide between using my diversity essay or leadership one...

It's a fairly open-ended question. I'd say go for it!

My status is just blank. Is anyone else having this issue? Am I supposed to see something after submit secondary?

My status is:

"Your application is complete and is being reviewed by the committee. All further correspondence will be via email.

If your email address changes; please contact the Admissions Office at 713-798-4842 to update.
Please email the Admissions Office for additional information."

I submitted a few days ago and my status is still just saying " Baylor College of Medicine interviews from August through February. " Shouldn't it say my app is complete... etc.?

Is becoming a physician a second career for you? If so, what was your first career choice? (2000 characters)

Anyone leaving this blank? Since its 1 of only 3 prompts I'm worried leaving it blank seems careless. But it doesn't apply to me. For those who it does apply to— I don't even get what they're trying to look for in this answer. Anyone w/ thoughts?

I left it blank. I think it's referring more to non-traditional applicants who may have had a career prior to pursuing a medical degree

Not a BCM student but I can answer #2 for you. BCM is located in downtown Houston and while it is technically possible to live in one of the suburbs, Katy, Sugarland, Pearland, Cypress, Tomball etc you'd have to drive about an hour in and out every day. Depending on where and when you were to drive traffic would increase your drive time to 2 hours. Dont do it.

I don't think this is something that you should be worried about if they have received your primary application and secondary application. Call the school if you have any questions. It seems like it has happened to other applicants as well so probably something on their end. No need to stress about minor details

Is anyone else's Baylor portal being weird? I made an account and I'm trying to log in and it keeps saying my password is incorrect. I try to input my email for "forgot password" and it says "System Error"

Any June 28th CASPER test takers that still haven't had their scores sent to Baylor? For some reason, my other schools have gotten it but not yet for here..
Hey, yeah I have the same problem! I submitted my app yesterday, so I thought it was because Baylor didn't have time to process everything yet - have you been waiting for that to update for a while?

Hey! Yeah, been waiting a couple days. The weird thing is, when I first submitted my secondary, all my portal said was that line about interviews being held from August onward. And then I checked my portal yesterday and noticed the update.

Would you mind keeping me posted if your portal says anything new in the next couple days? Hoping it's just a system error haha.

I just called them, and they said because of the high volume of applicants, they’ve experienced some slowdowns in connecting the CASPer score to the application & that it could take up to 2 weeks! But will for sure keep you updated about changes in my portal!

Good to know! Fingers crossed it doesn't actually take 2 weeks. Thanks haha, I'll lyk if anything changes on my end!

Having the exact same issue. Submitted a while ago and it just had the interviews statement, and I checked today and it now shows Casper not received 🙁

+1 to this issue! Looks like we're all in the same boat lol.

hi all, where are people seeing that the gap year essay has a 2000 character limit? I've seen it stated on multiple forums but can't seem to find it on the actual supplementary app...

I am a traditional applicant and I was considering medicine the whole time in college, but I did enter college as a computer science major and heavily considered other careers. Should I still leave the "Is becoming a physician a second career" prompt blank because I haven't actually done another career?

If you are still deciding, I am a CS Bio double major and I'm wouldn't address that prompt unless you were hired as a software engineer beforehand.

Did you ever do any co-op/internships to get some industry experience? If so, I'd mention it and then say what you learned and why it reinforced MD career for you. For reference, I'm a PhD student who "explored" other careers by job shadowing and other campus opportunities, so while I have not been hired for those careers, I want to come clean with the AdComs.

Yes, leave it blank, you didn't actually graduate and enter that career, it was just your college major.

@wysdoc , can I get your wisdom and advice on my situation too? I'm a PhD student who "explored" other careers by job shadowing and other campus opportunities; one of which I have listed on my primary application. It was a 1-year in length and a volunteer/ pro-bono consultant position for non-profit organizations. What do you think I should do? While I have not been hired for those careers, if I do not mention this on the Baylor app, will it hint that I'm hiding something (which is not my intention)? Thank you!

In your case I would probably describe this in the space provided.

for the expenses question- how would you categorize a "need-based scholarship"? I'm not sure if that would fall into loans/other or if it would still be counted as a scholarship? any thoughts?

it's a grant or scholarship if you don't have to pay it back

😢 and my June 4th one was not marked complete...should I give it a few more days before contacting Admissions?

How are you guys seeing if your casper was received or not? Can you only view that after they have received your amcas app?

Hey, has anyone here applied to Baylor in mid-June to early July and haven't heard anything yet? Should I be concerned or not yet thanks

submitted AMCAS 6/10 but for some reason did not enter the queue for processing until 7/1 because of one of my transcripts got delayed, so
I dont think they have gotten to 7/1 yet

Yeah submit your secondary whenever from there website but until they receive your primary you probably won't hear from them
