Still waiting on my campus assignment 😭.

I did get an email tonight though telling me I needed to give my information for the criminal background check so looks like UIC is moving along in the process, an very excited!

Thankfully I work at a hospital and have been extensively background checked so I know that my record is already squeaky clean.
 
anyone have any luck with emailing and inquiring about campus selections?
 
Sorry if this has already been asked, but are scholarly concentration interviews separate from the general MD program interview?
 
sooo to anyone else who also interview the week of 12/14 - this week we're supposed to hear back from the admissions committee.. right? I feel like it's been so long.

Yes, they meet every third Thursday of the month! I heard back late the next day. Good luck!
 
Anyone know if the U of I accepts letters of interest? I couldn't find anything online about it. Thanks.
 
For people who have sent a letter of intent, did you simply upload it to the portal? Did you also email it to Dean Thompson?

Pre-interview. I'm OOS but have ties to IL, since I lived there until 3 years ago. Not expecting much given my residency status, though. The portal has a space for letters of interest, so I'll upload there.

I think this is their way of telling us that there is no campus placement and all classes will be online. IS tuition will only be for student's who have parents that work for ZOOM.
 
Have any accepted students received communication from the school since the acceptance email? Like a welcome email or packet in the mail. Not sure if UIC does that but want to make sure I didn't miss anything

There was a link to join the FB page sent out. I havn't joined it yet as I don't have a FB. Any accepted students care to comment if anything is going on there?

Okay wow glad ya’ll are talking about the Facebook group because I totally missed that. My invite was in my spam folder and it’s called “University of Illinois COM - Class of 2025”

There is not too much going on in it, but I feel like it's definitely worth joining as I'm sure things will pick up as we get closer to the fall. I also think it'll be a good resource to find roommates, get any questions answered, etc.

Finding things and activities that provide genuine happiness, listening to good music, mindfulness, learning a new skill/hobby, and recognizing how privileged we all are to just be able to apply to medical school. The fact that we all, most likely, have food to eat, water to drink, clothes, and some sort of shelter over our heads makes us immensely privileged and “better off” than 100s of millions of people in the world.

This is all great! and just remembering that if this is really what you want, you will get there eventually. No matter what. Even if it's not in the timing you would've hoped.

I think they did, yes! I’m sure you can email them and ask to be added or request to join and they’ll cross check that if you've been accepted to the school and accept you to the group too. It’s called “University of Illinois COM- Class of 2025”
