So are you guys listing yourself as dependent or independent?
I emailed them to see. Pretty sure it'll be independent no matter what since we're applying as medical students (graduate program)

Anyone else having trouble finding their gator id? I try to login to the my application thing and it says no account found... but I go back to the professional application and my email was the way I logged in.

We are supposed to receive a personalized login link to the professional application portal to get our UF ID; the ID on our application isn't it

Did you already receive yours or will it be part of the email that it references with "The online form that you just completed has been successfully submitted and time-stamped. You will receive another email from the University of Florida within 24-48 hours to verify receipt of your application."?

Called them and they said it does not matter if you apply as an independent or dependent. Apply as whatever you classify yourself as financially. UNLESS YOU WILL BE 24 IN THE FALL OF 2021 WHEN YOU WOULD START MEDICAL SCHOOL, in that case you are automatically an independent.

I hit upload on the empty screen and it checked off that page for me. It let me compete the application without a photo, I figured since there was an update photo in another tab then it didn’t matter. But since they are holding off on applications till they fix the issue I guess it doesn’t matter that much

When the 2nd prompt says to reflect on the three quotes, are you all answering how you reflect on them? Or just answering the part of the question that says to tell them about your own life experiences? If you are reflecting on them, are you mentioning all 3 and integrating them into your paragraphs? I am lost on what to do and need some advice!

How are you guys incorporating the reflection of the quotes in 2B? Like address the quotes first then go into the times where you showed resilience/grit or spread it throughout?

What did you decide to do? Reflect on the quote in writing, or just personally reflect and jump right in to where you showed grit?

I did an intro where I reflected on the quotes and then discussed times I showed grit as the next paragraphs

What about for the first one? Reflect on both, or did you just discuss one?
Yea so idk if I'm doing it right lol but I did a brief intro reflecting on both (I feel like an intro paragraph and reflection go hand in hand) and then discussed one of them for the rest of it

FYI: My friend who is currently getting his PhD at UF in Neuropsych said that the PhD programs are conducting all of their interviews online. He is confident it will be the same for the med applicants.

He also said that the PhD programs are not accepting GRE scores anymore because of COVID, I have no idea if this effects MD/PhD students.

is anyone having trouble getting their email verified? I keep hitting resend verification email and im just not getting anything in my inbox. Should I email them?

I called UF's office of admissions regarding the issues with uploading a photo, they are currently working with their developer to fix the issue. For whatever reason some accounts can submit without uploading a photo and some cannot. They will let us know via email when the issue is fixed.

Are they really limiting our response in Section 1 to a minimum of 250 words or is more about not going past the 250-500 word range?

I didn't hit 250. IMO it's not that important of a section to be verbose in, but what do I know? lol

Picture upload finally working for me

Had you already submitted? I did and now I can't upload the picture. Not sure if I should email them or not.

I went to the "User Profile Tab -> Update Picture" and I was able to do it there. And yes I had already submitted.

Does it show up for anyone else that your "Letters of Reference" are not in yet on the status page (Red circle with exclamation point)? Haven't completed the secondary yet but just curious.

It shows that my letters are in, but I've already submitted my secondary.

I may have messed up....just submitted my secondary app however on a different section of the portal there's a place to upload my photo now but there's no buttons or anything letting me select it....I think I may have forgotten to upload before hitting submit on the secondary since it was on a separate tab from the app.

EDIT: Saw a space to upload the photo under "User Profile", so I should be fine?

I uploaded it under the User Profile tab, the normal place to upload it wasn't working.

The way it was worded in the question I thought it was saying to internally reflect after you read them and then pick the one that resonates with you and discuss it.
Honestly, the actual questions for both prompts seem pretty vague and I do not think they'd penalize you for writing the prompts one way or another

I can't get to the UF professional schools application. The apply link won't load. Anyone else?

I am trying to get my UFID, I am not an undergrad at UF nor a reapplicant. I just did my Professional application through their website and tried to go to one.uf edu to sign in to get my UFID, but Idk how to log in with my email and password I used for that professional application. It makes no sense. Can anyone give me a step by step? Thanks!

Are you guys using the full 750 words for the optional COVID prompt?? I find it to be a little excessive and I think I've said all that I can within 200 words about COVID, but are you guys using that space more for a "why us?" section or really hammering out a story out of COVID that takes up 500+ words?

I used ~300 words, one of my longer COVID drafts. Usually for optional essays I tend to opt for a why us but did not for UF for two reasons. 1 is they explicitly state covid in the prompt so it really seems like that is what they want in there. 2 is that UF’s essays are so unique and already let you see into the culture and kind of physicians they wish to create so I feel like a why us may distract from how deep you were able to reflect in the original essays unless you have the most spectacular reasons in the world. Just my opinion tho obviously not an expert

I did a "why us" mainly because I go to UF for undergrad and have a lot of personal connections to the city and the COM I'd like for them to know. I also threw in a COVID paragraph too.

Oh sweet I go to UF for ug too lol. Thats actually a great idea. I was thinking of sticking just to COVID, but completely forgot that might be important. However, I've heard from Juliette that simply going to UF isn't really something they look for and pointing that might out might not add any additional value and may detract from the overall value of the secondary?

Personally, I did not mention the fact that I went to UF for undergrad in that essay, but I definitely think that's a fair route to take. I had a lot to talk about concerning other things and it probably wouldn't have meshed well. Plus I'm sure they'll see my undergraduate university in my application anyways, but if you have the space to talk about it and make it flow naturally, I don't see why not.

Yeah I wouldn't mention that you "simply went to UF", but if you have certain connections that you made with the COM or compelling things you believe that the adocm should know regarding your connection to the city, I don't think it would be bad at all!

yeah idk if I'm just incredibly stupid, but I can't figure this out either. I can't log into the gatorlink without a UFID, and it says my email can't be found when trying to login to the check applicant status.
