2021-2022 TCU

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
did they ask follow up questions for each scenario or are we supposed to fill the entire allotted time with our answer? and how much time do we get for each answer?
I don't want to be too general, but from my understanding, for every MMI always answer the first question in a reasonable amount of time, but definitely do not take the entire time. When I interviewed at TCU, they had follow-up questions they wanted to ask, so make sure you're able to have enough time to answer them. You really should be able to though as long as you aren't rambling. Just be concise and confident with your answer! You will also get 2 minutes to review and 7 minutes to answer the questions at TCU.

Would it be a good idea to email the school and inquire about the status of my app if I haven't heard back from them >6 weeks? I'm talking about since submitting my secondaries.. thanks!

Not a good Idea. With this school, you got to be very patient as they are very deliberate in their selection process. Remember they have 8000+ applications to go through in order to select 60 students. That’s a daunting and meticulous process. I submitted my secondary early July last year, and didn’t hear from them until February when I received an II. I was among the last group of students interviewed and got accepted two weeks later.

Does this school interview or accept a decent number of OOS applicants? Also if I have a 4.0 GPA and a 505 MCAT do I have any chance getting an interview?

Thank you so much! I understand now 🙂

Current first year here! I think those stats are totally fine!! Also, TCU isn’t required to take 90% Texas residents like other schools in Texas, so they really do look at every student holistically regardless of OOS or IS. I didn’t get my interview offer until January after submitting in August!

Thanks so much for getting back to me! I applied to 40 medical schools and have no interviews yet with these STATs...getting really worried. Can only think that my MCAT score could be holding me back?

I appreciate your feedback!

Have you applied to any DO schools?

I did and have gotten interviews. I am just concerned because I have many top choices for MD schools. I just don't know what my chances are going forward with these stats. If anyone has advice Id appreciate it.
The 505 score limits your choices for US based md schools. DO still makes you a doctor and there are 100000 DOs in the nation.

I second this!
It is all in stats. TCU can only interview and admit so many people and they are showing an average of 508 for their class. There is always hope but one should also have options and not assume all md doctors are great and DO doctors are not.

Post II R, I got an email at 4:52 EST. I’m very confused because I’m pretty sure I did very well in the interview. Best of luck to everyone!
I'm sorry that happened, it might have some been an issue with mission fit who knows. I'm sure your application is great and you'll get an A somewhere else though.

I also got a Post II R, I thought I had an amazing interview and all the interviewers were so happy and loved me...guess not.
Really sorry. my interview was Monday and honestly I was feeling like I also did real well but after reading these posts I realize that it means nothing, huh? They can smile and joke and you think you're special until you see that they probably do that with all interviewees and then they drop the axe. My decision comes out next Friday, preparing for the worst

Liter Same😢😬

So discouraging when you bust your ass to get a 95%+ MCAT to make up for your average GPA and still get passed up on II. No II gang losing hope day by day.
Similar stats (high MCAT, low-average GPA) -- didn't get my II here until December, submitted secondary in July or August. That was also my first II of five. Don't give up yet, there are still interviews to be had. SDN shows a skewed population.

Then you realize that the people interviewing you in each station have no pull in final decisions. You'll be okay, friend. Keep the faith.

Hi guys, apologies if this was already asked, but does this school allow application updates?

Is the consensus there’s a big lab between application complete and interview invites?

This waiting for a call from this school is absolutely nerve recking. Like have a release time tonight where you either know if you’re accepted, rejected or put in further review

Did anyone get any acceptance or rejection calls or emails? Nothing for me so far

Got an email just now, was told I am still being continued for review. Anyone else hear anything?

I was definitely optimistic to hear good news today, but I’m also happy I didn’t get an R. And the next meeting is next week so we’ll wait to hear then!
