When do they do the call after the email?
I got my email early last week but haven't received a call yet, should I be worried?
I saw people comment above that it took some time for them to get the call. They told me they have a list that they work down, calling students to schedule. So no you shouldn’t worry

Does anyone know how and when residencies are decided for students In the 3 year program. Can you just decide you want to do OB/Gyn or is it competitive within the program? When do they let you know which Hackensack residency program you are placed in. TIA
Works similarly to the regular match where you interview at different hackensack programs. Competitiveness is relative to what program you are applying to. So you decide what you want to do sometime by mid 2nd year. Interview in the late summer then find out your final match around mid-october of your third year.

Just got what I think is a hold?

Just got this too. What does this mean?

Does anybody know what the schedule is for the admissions day? Do we get breaks? It just seems so long to just be sitting there listening

There was - maybe - just 1-2 opportunity to take a quick break. I had to turn my camera off during presentations at certain points just to use the bathroom.

Honestly the fact that they made us sit there so long, listening to not the most exciting presenters, without bathroom breaks, kinda turned me off to the school. I've been to other interview days where the school seems to really care about your wellbeing during the day (frequent breaks, stretch breaks, check ins with how we're doing), and I just didn't get that from Hackensack. Plus, the students in the panel did say that the school was a lot - there are very little breaks for summers, etc.

For my session some of the presentations were literally screen recordings from other admissions day. I was definitely fidgeting and moving like crazy by the end. It seemed like everyone was looking at their phones in their laps lmao. Most boring day ever and also turned me off but my actual interviewer was amazing and made me excited about the school again.

Oh I meant like during the day... pinchybug mentioned a student panel, do we ask them questions or are they presenting pre-set stuff? (Do we get an email with the agenda? I don't think I've gotten anything yet)

You can ask questions after all of the presentations and the student panel is a q and a I think. After the dean’s presentation in my session we had about 30 minutes with people bragging about themselves disguised as questions.

I know people have mentioned that they are delayed this year due to the new computer system. Any insight as to when their original target to release decisions was and when has it been pushed back to?
I was trying to read through last years and it looked like December was the first acceptance wave

Question mostly for current students but also curious anyone’s thoughts. From the info session, it seems like the gear the curriculum to graduate you in 3 years and then the last optional year is very light. The first three years seem rushed and crammed. One of the students at the info session said the only break you miss is the summer after first year… that’s a big break to miss. Also, seems very hard to do research during first three years and step 1/2 are crammed into 12 weeks around rotations.

Clearly, graduating in 3 years is great if you want to stay in HMH network, but if you don’t, is the rushed format (no breaks, less time for research and step prep) worth it?

Does anyone know if they accept update letters?

Your assessment is accurate in terms of the rushed and crammed part. I wholeheartedly agree, there are very few breaks and it gets exhausting. Though I would disagree that it's hard to do research during the preclinical years, even during the clinical years it's possible depending on what rotation you are on at the time. During the preclinical years, you have classes generally 8-12 (some days later depending) so there is a lot of time left in the day for studying and research.

Not sure what you mean about the step exams. You finish core rotations then get 8 wks for step 1. You can take step 2 any time during the back half of the third year during electives and get 4 weeks for it.

Now is the rushed format worth it if you stay for a 4th year? I think that depends on what specialty you want to do and what you want to do with the year. For me the 4th year has value but was it worth it for all the trouble, I'm not sure but maybe I'll feel differently next year.

Thanks for your response! On the mock curriculum schedule they showed Step 1 and 2 combined into one block adding up to 12 weeks, which is where I got that -- on retrospect maybe that part is not as crammed as I initially thought. I appreciate your take on the research aspect, good to know it's doable! Thanks again.

I think it’s 12 weeks combined if you’re applying to residency after MS2

With this school, I feel like I have a crush and i’m waiting for them to finally make a move. No sign of life from the other side post interview. Frustrating :,(

Do you mean the one with the subject line "Hackensack Meridian - School of Medicine Application Notification - Preliminary Review Complete"? If so then you probably submitted recently I'm guessing. It's just telling you that they confirmed you meet the admissions requirements and now they will begin actually considering your application. You'll get a different email later on if selected to interview/attend admissions day.

Unless you mean a different email that I haven't gotten?
nope i got the preliminary review email like almost 3 months ago...

Oh interesting...maybe it's letting you know that you are still in consideration, and could get an II down the road.

Received the same email earlier, today. Seems like a generic "we're still reviewing so give us some time" email. But hopefully, a decision might come soon? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Got the same thing too like 30 min ago -- got the preliminary complete email 9/20

Received the same email. Complete early september. Does everyone eventually receive the same email?

Are we thinking they sent out the email to everyone or just to people being considered?

I received this email and 1 month later received an interview invite

Anyone have a “under review” section on their status page?

Could be wrong but I'm almost certain is has always displayed this message. Pre- and post-interview. I wouldn't dig too deep into it. For other schools, my status hasn't changed regardless of whether I was rejected or accepted.

Agree I think that message has been there pre and post interview.

anyone heard if we might hear back post interviews before the holidays?

For everyone? Or just your interview day? Some of use have been waiting since September lmao I am actually dying
I actually can't believe it. We bust our butts to meet their deadlines but we are kept waiting for 10 WEEEKSSS. This process ain't adding up

Actually they did say they were really slow this cycle? I just looked back at my notes from interview day and they said "traditionally 6-8 weeks" but that it might be a bit longer while they figure everything out. I think they described themselves as "rolling admissions, but slow rolling"

I am waiting for the rolling to begin! 8 week mark has come and gone for me already

I understand your frustration. Different school, but last cycle it took 114 days for me to hear after my interview. Possibly the most anxiety-filled days of my life.

This process is unfair. ADCOMs have all the power and we are merely playing their games. Their inability to provide any kind of transparency is pretty indicative of the low level of respect they have for us applicants.
