Okay yall, student panel done.

It is an interview. For those of you who are sent an invitation to the student panel, have questions if you need any answered and present self well of course because there will be current students asking questions in different break out rooms of about 4-6 applicants and 2-3 current students. The student’s will have rubrics and grade after which I’m sure will make its way back to the adcom. As we’ve already stated, some may not receive this and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing but be prepared for those who are given this invitation.

EVERYBODY LETS KEEP HOPE AND FAITH ALIVE!!! WHAT IS MEANT TO BE WILL BE!!!

may be a dumb question lol but did yall like go in turns to answer the questions or did someone just start and the rest follow?

Not dumb, but it varied. They went in order at first (alphabetically) with intros then as they asked questions we basically just went in whatever order of who started talking first. Be mindful this is only for my breakout room. Idk about the others

Thanks for posting this feedback. I'm sure it will be helpful to those yet to interview. Its so interesting how there is so much variance in Meharry's interview style. Hope we both get in!

Hey for the questions were they about your application or just general questions about their time as a med student?

Anyone who got and submitted a secondary the last two weeks of October hear back about an II yet? I saw the turnaround was quick before, but seems to have slowed. Really love Meharry so hoping to hear back soon (maybe these next two weeks - fingers crossed)!

I submitted last week of October. Radio silence

Hi everyone. i just received an email from Ms. Dixon after i inquired about the student interviews and basically she said that they are mandatory and you will not receive an admissions decision until that portion of the interview is completed. i have had good success reaching out to her via [email protected]. it does take her a little while to respond but i know she is getting swamped with emails because she is the primary point of contact for admissions.

Huh? If they are mandatory, then why haven't interviewed candidates been given information about them? I appreciate you providing her feedback, but that information is very confusing. We have to reach out to admissions to schedule interviews we were never told about? None of this is directed at you @futuredoc14879, just thinking out-loud.

from my understanding she is reaching out to students on a rolling basis. i received my invite like an hour ago and there were about 25 people on the thread. im assuming its by current student availability. if you havent received one i'd just reach out to her. she's been really nice and super helpful.

That’s odd because I spoke to Dr. Marshall and she said that the student panel was just for us to ask students questions and that only the two interviews are required.

I feel like she may have given you the wrong information unless their process changed this cycle. No one in the first group of accepted applicants last year had more than 1 interview. I've reached out to the email you posted because better safe than sorry, but I'm skeptical of her advise.

Just received student interview invite from Dr. Dixon actually.. student interview is indeed mandatory. Also says next one is 12/3.
Wow. Well hopefully I get my email soon then. I wonder if this will delay decisions...

She is the coordinator for all things admissions lol so i would take her advice/answer over anyone else. things are different this year. thats what she said in the email. this is a new practice.

Just heard back and you were totally correct. I guess I will just cough up the deposit for my other school because there is no telling when my Meharry interview process will be complete.

I believe its in batches. i received my invite exactly 3 weeks from my initial interview. i'm sure everyone that interviewed will get one. Also second interviews i believe are based on the faculty's availability. If you have not had a second interview. I would email Ms Dixon and ask her.

I hope so. I really want to hear back by Dec.

My interview was a week ago, so I think it’s kinda random? Idk

Let’s deduce our expectations to 0 when it comes to this process in general

Marked complete 10/22 and have heard nothing since. Hoping to hear something back soon!

Y’all, I swear they are chronically crazy late about notifying for everything 🥴 I don’t know if anyone else experienced this. But, I received my interview invite on 10/17 with options for only 10/20 or 10/23, with only the 10/20 day available. Then I received the email for the traditional interview on 10/20 (10 minutes before my MMI), which was for 10/22. Then I didn’t hear anything about the student panel until last Thursday evening and the student panel was that Saturday (2 day notice). Many people couldn’t not make it due to such last-minute notice, so we were told if we couldn’t make it last Saturday, then we had the option tomorrow, and the next one is in the beginning of December if we couldn’t make it tomorrow. Needless to say, this would have been much easier if they had done it all on one day and maybe with more than two days notice for things! But that’s just me personally!

You're better off than me. I'm still waiting on a 2nd faculty interview almost a month after my initial one.

Made it through my panel interview today! Overall I would say it was a positive experience, my interviewers were great and the questions were very clear. Just be genuine and present yourself well. Good luck everyone!

I just finished mine also! It was great the students were nice and the questions weren’t bad at all! I loved it! Best of luck to everyone

Has anyone heard about this? They're on probation?
I wasn't aware of this. I read the article and it seems like they are taking the necessary steps to address it. Meharry's has been around for over 100 years, so I'm sure the school's administration knows what needs to be done to get out of probationary status.
