About how long after your TMDSAS application was verified did UH send the secondaries?

Also curious. UH is my top choice so I am SO antsy!

Out of curiosity, will the new building be open this year? or next?
We’re in the new building rn!! Still some construction going on around us, buts it’s very nice and right off of the UH campus. We have a little spot of forest behind the school too that’s nice to walk around in during study breaks. Lots of group study rooms and library with individual study spaces. We’ve got a full simulation center with a hospital and clinic side that’s still being built out, but it’ll be super cool when it’s all finished!

Where is it exactly? I'm a UH student now for my master's. I've seen the new law building, are y'all sharing with them? Or is it behind the building where you used to be?

It’s on MLK just down the road south from Health 2 (building where we used to be/where pharmacy and optometry are currently). Right across from MacGregor Park!

How long after did y'all submit your secondaries to get the interview invite? And what is the acronym that is being used? And is UH more selective in sending their secondaries?

UH is selective. So you need to send it whenever you receive and not worry about the date. Same rule applies to all schools that are small in Texas (Dell, UTRGV, UT Tyler).

I only just got a secondary from this school. Is it worth sending it in? Seems late for TMDSAS?
I agree with the poster above. Also note that U of H wants it back within 14 calendar days of your invitation to complete the secondary!

Is anyone still waiting on a secondary? I know it's not looking good, but shooters have to shoot.

Does anyone know if UHCOM has sent out Rs yet ? In previous year threads there were people receiving Rs at the end of August, but I haven’t seen anyone receive an early R yet this year.

I'm about to turn this secondary in and am giving it a last look over. Just to be sure when it says "Social Service in an underserved area" does working at the Food Bank/Pantry count? This is where I have been volunteering for the last year and it is what I have written down. I also don't know if the area itself would be considered 'underserved' even if the folks coming through the Food Pantry may be...
Serving in a food bank is an automatic underserved area. Dont interpret underserved area as a literal location but meeting specific needs of a community. Think of where your food is going and that is who you are serving and not the location of the food bank itself.

From my understanding, metrics no longer play a role in post II decisions for this particular school, but does anyone know if its based solely on your interview performance after that or are ec's/primaries/secondaries still taken into account for decisions?
Usually they have made some sort of notations about your application before they meet you in an interview, then the interview impression is added in to the rating.

I see that there is a person who was complete on 8/17. I was marked complete on 7/26. If it's rolling admissions, does that mean that they have already read my application and I am basically being silently rejected?

It’s not really done in order of submission but on reading your secondary and seeing if your goals match theirs

Also note the person who was complete 7/6 and received an II last Tuesday. I don’t think anyone is privy to their interview decision method. I wouldn’t assume anything until you get that R or A. They likely have looked at your app but that doesn’t mean they won’t take a second, third, or fourth look as the cycle progresses. Keep your head up, this entire process is a waiting game.

Due to the size of the school, UH is limiting the secondaries as well as interviews and looking for what they call fit or whether a candidate has been doing activities that their mission. So if someone published papers doing cancer research, it might fit UTSW or Baylor but that is not UH's cuppa tea because they are looking to train primary care doctors who want to practice in underserved areas. So if that does not come across in your primary and secondary app, LizzyM scores of 80 dont mean anything to them.

Do you know how many secondaries went out? And, how many interviews will they conduct this cycle?

Does anyone have U of H MSAR data? Are there any current MS1 students who know how many interviews were given and how many secondaries in your cycle.

Some of this information will be brand new for U of H and unless there are some insiders who can provide it what is available in MSAR for 2021 may not help.

  • Year 1 – 2020 – 30
  • Year 2 – 2021 – 30
  • Year 3 – 2022 – 60
  • Year 4 – 2023 – 60
  • Year 5 – 2024 – 120

The number of interview invites given for this past cycle is not on msar yet. The data on msar right now is from 2021 incoming class so that won't be the most accurate since they're now admitting 60 instead of 30.

Does having UH (or other schools Ive interviewed at) on the rank list on TMDSAS mean anything at all?

You need to rank them during match. There are different scenarios for the ranking.

If you have an admission from a school that you want to attend over all others you rank them as one and your selection process is done.

If you have an admission but have not heard from other schools you really want to attend and you want to be kept on waitlist or hope to match during the match process, whichever school is most wanted, goes first in the list, followed by next most wanted and so on.

So if a third or fourth on your list gives you an admission during match, you keep that admission and then be on the waitlist for the others.

Me seeing no UH II in my inbox for the 98th day

Same here. I'm also a good "fit" candidate (want to do primary care in Houston specifically) so just sitting here twiddling my thumbs freaking out about my stats.

We were told we had around 200 interviews for class of 2026. Not sure how many secondaries were given though.

Can any current students comment on what hospitals you rotate at during clerkships?
