The Facebook is representative of students who have been both accepted and paid their deposit to secure their seat and then joined the Facebook. I'm not sure it's too indicative of anything as I'm sure there's plenty of people who didn't join the Facebook group. It's not like it's required.

The admissions committee meets every Thursday. If you interview early enough in the week and they don't have a backlog of previously interviewed candidates to review, you can theoretically hear back in the same week.

can anyone help me out w/ a timeline here? secondary completed 10/1, amcas app reviewed 11/10. is there any other “reviewed” emails that come after this? anyone who was complete around the same time, heard anything yet? i’m wondering if i should send a letter of interest. i don’t have any updates but just to let them know i’m all in.

nothing yet as well. im going to send an update if i dont hear before the end of this month about an interview

I got the reviewed email on 11/14 and then an II a month later. I think a letter on interest would be beneficial.

I don’t mean to derail this thread whatsoever but is the state of medical school application this bad? I paid 100’s of dollars and took my time to fill out an application and secondary and then now we also gotta beg them to remember us after ghosting us for months? Things gotta change

This process is actually insane. And I don’t like that the HBCUs have a reputation of dragging this out and ghosting

I completely agree and in my opinion, sadly this is the state of medical school applications. This isn’t my first application cycle, and whether it was an HBCU or PWI, I would just get ghosted until May when classes were full.

Facts and to make matters worse we can’t even get in contact with the admissions office because they don’t respond to emails or answer the phone.

I understand they’re being bombarded by applicants calling and emailing, but come on we could at least get an automated response

I agree. Unfortunately this is state of medical school applications. Some of the schools I applied to specifically say do not send us any updates and we will let you know at the end of the cycle if you are rejected. With the amcas fees per school as well as the secondary app fees it seems unfair that some schools cannot give review updates or any communication.
 
Hey guys, so I just got off the phone with someone at admissions and I asked her if they received my update/letter of continued interest and this was her response verbatim:

“Yes, we most likely did receive it but to be honest with you, we’re running a bit behind schedule because of the holidays. We always send response emails to those applicants who send updates. We’re working our way through the emails as I’m speaking to you. I just finished the emails that came in on 12/27. If you don’t receive an email from us confirming your update letter by the end of next week, then give us call back”

She also said that the last IIs are going out in April and the last interviews for this cycle will be at the end of April.

okay so if i’m understanding correctly, the next round of II are coming out in april and official R get sent out in march. so now we just wait until march to see where we stand?

My bad if my message came out wrong, I’m at work so I typed it as fast as I could because I brief moment to do it 😅But, yes you’re absolutely right, the latest IIs are going out in April! They’re definitely still sending IIs in February and March.

I sent my mine around the same time too, I’m guessing & hoping I should be getting a response shortly. We’ll see.

yes i sent a letter of interest but it was back in october. they did confirm receiving them
