When were you complete?+1 OOS R 🙁
Hi! Current M1 here. We do have lectures but primarily large group application sessions to discuss the content we're assigned to study.Did yall know BU doesn’t have lectures??? I went to an info session today, and I absolutely love the mission and focus of this school, but no lectures really threw me for a loop….
seriously the nicest R Email i’ve gotten 🤣Just got the IS pre-II R ... devastated since this was my top choice school, but at least the rejection email was classy which is more than can be said for some other schools LOL
does anyone know what the dress code/formality vibe is for the student panel session? assuming the dean's session is on the formal side but wanted to double check
I was thinking about this and if they convene in last November/early December to release that first wave in late December, then I doubt the transcript would make a difference let alone be required if you can't get it until mid December. That said, I'm still going to upload my transcript as soon as I can. In the off chance they meet later in December or would go back to it before making a final decision on me, I don't want it to be the difference between an A and a WL/R.In their post interview email, they mention they'd appreciate seeing final transcripts or current transcripts if still in school. Does this mean everyone who completed interviews has to send their official transcripts to BU before decisions come out?
“The first round of decisions is expected to go out in late December or early January, and the second in early March. Students who interviewed Sept - early Nov should expect to hear from us in December. Interviews conducted in late Nov - Feb will hear from us in March.”Does anyone know what the cutoff date for an interview is to be considered for the December decision date?
Thank you!“The first round of decisions is expected to go out in late December or early January, and the second in early March. Students who interviewed Sept - early Nov should expect to hear from us in December. Interviews conducted in late Nov - Feb will hear from us in March.”
From my interview follow-up email. it’s pretty vague but my best guess is the second week of November

Earliest I saw was Nov 25congrats!! what dates are they scheduling out into?
Congrats! When were you complete here. I’m hoping my 7/26 or so complete date isn’t screwed yetOOS II today!!
I just checked e-mail and it said 8/8 complete. And no, you're not screwed I guarantee you. There's literally no rhyme or reason for when they select people for interview, so you'll probably end up getting it tomorrow. You're definitely competitive for BU, and p much every school. Holding out hope for you manCongrats! When were you complete here. I’m hoping my 7/26 or so complete date isn’t screwed yet
not sure if you have insight on this, but is it true that most people get deferred in december?current m1 at BU, feel free to DM me if you have any questions
yes, a lot of applicants get deferred in december—it’s very common. i was actually deferred myself and later accepted in march. at first, i thought it was a soft rejection, but after coming here, i found out that many others were also deferred before eventually being admitted. if you do get deferred, don’t view it as the end of the road; it’s more of a waiting phase. i highly recommend sending in meaningful update letters. i sent one in january and another in february, and it’s a great way to reaffirm your interest and share any new achievements or experiences since submitting your application.not sure if you have insight on this, but is it true that most people get deferred in december?
urgent question herecurrent m1 at BU, feel free to DM me if you have any questions
NAURRR omg
and EXPENSIVE
i was also complete mid august. according to an interview with the dean of admissions, they reject the bottom 60% upfront, interview the top 20% and hold onto that middle 20%. if you look at admit.org the numbers pretty much align so far. it's possible you fall in that middle category (this is what I'm thinking for myself but who knows)Any one with mid august completion date that have received II recently?
I saw a bunch of pre II rejections for July/Aug, is there still hope for receiving an II.
my updates were mostly research-based, but honestly, bu appreciates any form of engagement that shows you're still invested and interested in their program. just keep them updated on your clinical experience, and let them know bu is still top of mind. no need to stress—when it’s time, you’ll have plenty to share.thanks for replying! this is really helpful. i’m not doing research during my gap year so my only updates will be from my clinical employment. were your updates research?
also do you feel that most people in your class have pre-existing connections to BU/Boston? this might just be anecdotal but i’ve noticed bu med has a lot of its own undergraduates/masters students
yep, the busm merch is definitely lacking. the bookstore barely has any busm options either. our student government has a temporary online merch store, but it only has patagonia-style items, not the typical sweatshirts or t-shirts.
that’s good to know honestlyyep, the busm merch is definitely lacking. the bookstore barely has any busm options either. our student government has a temporary online merch store, but it only has patagonia-style items, not the typical sweatshirts or t-shirts.
one of our classmates actually made his own busm merch on etsy that’s way better-looking and more affordable. i'd definitely check that out if you’re after something more unique and budget-friendly
