2024-2025 Dartmouth (Geisel)

just cuz i got an A at my top choice and i thought others could hear back faster maybe. idk if that's how it works tho

Congratulations on the A at your top choice. Nice of you withdrawing your A but people hold onto those As until April.

That is very nice of you! I think I would have waited for the financial aid offer from Geisel before making that decision. I guess if you weren’t going to go to Dartmouth even if they gave you all the aid you wanted then it still makes sense. Congratulations on the A your top choice!

yeah I know most people wait lol but for me it was just one of those cases where I would've chose the closer school even if I got a lot of aid purely because of location so might as well just let someone else hear back earlier. also, I guess i didn't really withdraw my A, i just declined it but same thing in the end 🙂 good luck to everyone else

You dropped this 👑

did they get to august yet lol
also is this school research focused? my app is more community service-oriented. thanks!

Hi! If it's been around 2 months since my interview and people from the same interview date have been accepted, is it reasonable to assume that I have been put on hold / rejected? Does anyone know if Geisel admissions go back to an application after initial presentation? Just trying to get a picture of how many they have interviewed and how many offers have been sent out etc. Thanks!

I was just on their zoom (maybe you were too? Someone asked about holds).

They’ve interviewed 400 students and will interview 300 more

If you applied in early September, you’ll hear back in Jan or Feb

They do hold applications throughout the cycle, but idk their answer made it seem like it would be unusual

They’re looking for a well rounded class more so than well rounded applicants. So if you have a special skill or trait, it seems you’d be more likely to get accepted.

They do like updates on apps. Perhaps you can write a “statement of purpose” if you continue to not hear back.

They’re happy to take phone calls and emails from anyone anytime. Aileen is very kind and seems genuinely interested in all the applicants.

That was a general summary of the main points I remember ^_^ hopefully at least some of it is helpful
by applied early september, you mean people who submitted early september could get interviews around Jan-Feb? I’m asking because I submitted late August and it seems like they’re still on July apps

That 300 more interviews stat is giving me probably too much hope lol

They basically said 50% of all the apps came in July, so it's taking them longer to get through that month. But they said they should be updating us quicker now (basically will be sending out ii/Rs every week).
They review apps through end of Feb, so yes by the time they get to September, it's going to be in Jan/Feb!

I only asked about September, but based on what they said, August applicants should start hearing back now - Jan/Feb.
They said they go in order (kind of).

Thank you for all this info 🙂 No worries if you don't know, but if we were complete in July (7/10) and haven't heard back, is that likely an R? Not sure if they do IIs first based on when things are submitted and then loop back for Rs or something.

They didn't say this exactly, but it looks like they don't wait to send out R's - if you still haven't received an R, then you're probably still being considered! They said they don't do holds or anything like that but sometimes they do take a while to make a decision about an applicant. So, I'm guessing you're still being considered! Good luck!

I interviewed back in early September and still haven't heard back...is this normal?

Guys I know they send out a steady stream of Rejections which seem to be in order of application submission date. My complete date was early July and I got passed over ages ago. Just silence. Can I interpret this as I'm their ace in the whole that they will take off the bench in the last quarter or what. In all seriousness tho I think I'll email admissions around the new year for an update or express continues interest or something. Hopes are not up but stranger things and all that. This school has somehow the most normal and yet weird way of going through the cycle
