2024-2025 Illinois

For this question: An important part of UI COM’s identity is the concept of “one college, three campuses.” The curriculum is identical on each campus; however, each campus has unique characteristics. Please describe what you have learned about at least two of our three campuses.

Did you guys talk about personal preferences at all or did you just talk about the actual differences between each school? Also did you mention all three campuses/stick to two? Thank you!
following!

I only talked about 2 of the campuses, also I’m from IL, so I talked about how each campus interested me (did mention the interest in staying in IL) and how attending that campus would align with my goals using unique things about each campus, I could’ve talked about the 3rd campus, but I chose to go more detailed into 2

did your application show "missing international documentation." thats what it shows for me right now and i cant figure it out.
Are you a permanent resident? Mine also says this and I'm wondering if they want us to upload a copy of our green cards.

Hey guys! For the "What are some of the causes and consequences of prejudice and injustice? What does an individual’s response to prejudice and injustice reveal about their character? What is the role of a bystander who witnesses prejudice or injustice?" prompt, did you guys have a very English class-like essay? I'm not sure how to make this essay unique other than regurgitating a lot of common ideas about the topic. Did anyone use personal examples/stories to illustrate parts of their response? Any help is really appreciated, I'm stressed on this one :_)

No school wants an English Class essay (or a Siri -Tell me the causes of prejudice)
What are your thoughts and conclusions? Have you seen it play out in real life?

That's a good point, which I realized earlier this morning. I'm trying to work on it to make it my own personal take on the issue and include some stories. Would you mind if I PM you for help once I am done?

Sorry, I don’t review/edit essays

What characteristics, qualities, or attributes do you possess that have helped you to deal with conflict and change?

How many qualities did you guys discuss, and how did you generally structure the essay?

Did you figure this out? Because I am too and it says the same for me and it says application is incomplete because of that.

Is anyone else an IS applicant and still not done with this secondary?? I feel like I'm so behind and I'm struggling to get it done lol

84k for OOS tuition alone is insane. How do they get away with asking so much for tuition?
By preying on desperation, and it works. (1977 grad U of ILL Chicago medicine). But that won’t come up in the application process.

For the question regarding family affiliation to the University of Illinois system, my father used to be a professor at UICOM, but that was almost 20 years ago. Since then, he has been a faculty at another institution in Texas. My mother is an alumnae at UIC, but she graduated in the early 90s. Should I list them as affiliates despite it being so long ago?

Edit: Does anyone else also see the "MCAT Score not received?" Is this a bug?

Any guidance on the MCAT score issue or should I call admissions office?
You might want to call or email. I had the same issue and it turned out my MCAT score was not valid (by a month).

Quick question, did everyone receive an "Application Complete" email after submitting their secondaries? On my portal I have a green checkmark beside "Application Complete" but never received an email confirming that. All scores and LORs were received. Is this something I should follow up on or am I just overthinking.

Just asking everyone's opinion – UIC is my very last secondary. I got it on 7/15, and I honestly haven't started it. To be honest, I forgot I had it because I somehow didn't add it to my spreadsheet. I guess when you apply to 40 schools, one will slip through the cracks...

I chilled on this one because I heard they only interview OOS people late in the cycle (Feb onwards) and focused on finishing Duke's instead, but do you think submitting this late relative to receipt will be a massive disadvantage?

I’m just an applicant like you, so take my opinion as you will, but I recall reading that most schools care more about the complete date rather than turnaround date (unless explicitly stated). So, if you have the time and financial means, I say why not submit one more? We all only want to do this process once, and since you already finished so many, you can easily reuse a few essay ideas, especially since this one has no word limit 🙂 good luck friend!

Thanks for making yourself available! How was your interview experience? Stressful/chill?
Super chill, they are pretty upfront with the fact that they accept 80-90% of the people they interview so they just want to get a chance to get to know you and for you to get to know the school. Its long and the presentations about the school and campuses (they talk in depth about all three) is a little over kill but if you wanna go to medical school you gotta get used to sitting in a lot of presentations

Also, do you know whether interviews are open-file or closed-file?
Honestly, I can't remember but I wouldn't stress too much about it they will let you know what they want to/ already know

Hey guys! So I got my MCAT scores back on 8/27 but still haven't received a secondary. Is this normal? I called them and they said my app is still under review.

For those who interviewed, did you feel that the questions on SDN were the same or similar to the questions you were asked? I feel like some of these are kind of random/out of left field.

For those who interviewed when did you receive your post II survey. I interviewed 9/12 and have yet to received it. Getting kinda nervy

Current student, dont worry about it lol. I dont remember when I got it but I do remember that I didnt do it. UIC LOVES surveys but it isnt some hidden signal about your application
