I received my acceptance at like 4pm in november! Im not sure if they changed that
You left a comment on page 6 saying you received it at 8:53 AM though lol.

Has anyone received an acceptance email sent after 9am?
Looking at the previous acceptance posts on this thread as well as on last year's thread, it looks like all acceptances for a given month are sent out in one batch at the same time in the morning, so I don't think it happens.

ahh sorry youre right! I got the interview and acceptance mixed up. Interview invite was 4:33pm and acceptance email was 8:58 am. Sorry if that dashed hopes but anything can still happen!!

Does MCG usually do acceptances at 9am only or is there another wave later in the day? Congrats to everyone who got As!!
I'm a current M1 at MCG and I previously applied 2 app cycles to get to MCG. Iirc, they come all at once in the day, so I can confirm what the others said as well

Hey, quick question for y’all! I just found out my abstract was accepted for publication as a 2nd author. Do you think this is worth anything if I send an update letter about it? I already sent an LOI, so idrk if I should send another letter tbh.

Honestly if you already sent an LOI, it might be more beneficial to you to keep it as ammo in case you're waitlisted, play the long game. But I understand that it's hard to wait but like delayed gratification or something ya know? Also at the end of the day who knows lol

Thanks! Yeah, I’ll probably save this update if I end up on the waitlist. Praying for the A first lol.

What are we thinking acceptance wave looks like for February?

My guess is February 14th based of last year’s trends, but the wacky weather this year could definitely delay things. I really hope I’m wrong about the date because Valentine’s Day would be kinda cruel timing for those who don’t get positive news 🙃

Last year was 3rd Friday though, right? So probably the 21st this year?

If you look at last year's thread. The most apparent trend seems to be an A wave roughly 2 weeks after the January A wave. WLs followed around the end of Feb. I could see it being 2/14, but w/ impacts like hurricane Helene and snow storms, I can also see the wave being around 2/21.

Has anyone confirmed with admissions if the next wave will be the last one before WL/Rs?

I just want to say to everyone who has not heard anything yet, I hope that you are all doing well during this extremely difficult and hard time. Don't lose sight of the fact of how much you have accomplished to get this far. I hope you are able to all receive positive news!

Did anyone who interviewed in January hear anything last week?
I interviewed 1/15 and haven't heard anything yet, but I had very little expectation to hear anything that early anyway. I've read plenty of posts on this forum from people who interviewed much earlier than me in the cycle and have yet to hear anything.

Actually, the 21st makes more sense to me now that you mentioned the 3rd Friday of the month trend for A waves. I just picked a Friday halfway through February because the 2023-2024 February A wave occurred on the 16th (which was, in fact, the 3rd Friday of February last year).

I took a look back at last year’s thread and I actually wrongly thought their A wave was on 1/31 when it was actually 1/26. The next A wave was on 2/16, which was 3 weeks out and also the 3rd Friday of the month. I think you’re right that decisions will probably come out 2/21 as that would be 3 weeks out from this cycle’s last A wave (1/31) and also the 3rd Friday of the month.

Has anyone ever called and asked when we can expect to her back? I feel like they would tell us.

The lady on the line basically just said that admissions can be made up through June as the waitlist moves and that non-WL acceptances will all be sent out whenever their AdCom is done reviewing for the season

I wonder if MCG will start sending out any post-II R's by mid-February... I don't recall any comments on this year's thread about someone getting rejected after their II, just radio silence or As so far. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I think MCG holds off on post-II R's until they give out the last wave of As. I think the week after that last wave is when a mix of WL and Post-II R's start coming out.

I know this has literally nothing to do with the next A wave, but I was talking with a co-worker today about all the different holistic review processes and the question randomly occurred to me: Do heavily IS-biased schools like MCG rank their IS applicants (in part) based on how much of their life they've lived in GA? I noticed MCG's secondary app asked a lot of specific questions about biographical information outside of the essay prompts, so it makes me wonder if they might have developed an algorithm/internal ranking system using this information. If all things were equal in the balance between stats, ECs, LORs, and writing, would an IS applicant who's spent their entire life in GA be viewed more favorably than another IS applicant who only moved to GA for undergrad?

***note this is 100% wild conjecture on my part and I have zero proof this actually happens, so please don't let my tinfoil hat ideas spook you! I'm just bored and feeling introspective***

Don’t worry! We all get introspective (me trynna figure out how MCG does their A waves lmao).

I honestly think that they are mainly looking for individuals who thoroughly understand Georgia’s healthcare needs/issues and genuinely convey an interest to stay in Georgia for practice. I don’t think they’ll evaluate one’s time in Georgia tbh.

Let’s use an example! Let’s say student A has lived in GA all their life. Student B moved to GA bc their dad got a new job around the time they were 15. I wouldn’t say Student A automatically ranks higher than Student B just by this notion. Rather, as an adcom, I would gauge their knowledge “Why serve GA?”, “What do you know about GA and healthcare?”. If student B conveys a more genuine response than student A, then I feel B > A in terms of ranking. Now let’s introduce Student C, who lived in another state all their life and came to GA for undergrad. I still wouldn’t rank this student in terms of their time in GA, rather I would expect that if this student is applying to MCG, then they’ve taken the time to understand GA and it’s healthcare scene. I know this sounds repetitive af, but that’s just my introspective take lol.

If somehow, all 3 students were exactly the same and this was the one tiebreaker, their responses to “Why serve in GA?” and “Why MCG?” would be the way I’d ultimately rank them.

Waiting for MCG to give me a decision has realllly had me psychoanalyzing this school too much lololol.

I would assume so. We should hear about waitlists and rejections in a week or two I’d bet.
RIP. Welp, I’m at least glad I got an interview ig. Sucks to not convert it into an A tho 🙁

On a side note: For those of y’all that got As, how many got in through the regional clinical campus pathway? So far, I’ve seen 1 A there so I’m extremely surprised to not see more. Maybe those who got As don’t go on SDN though.

Maybe I’m coping but do we think these two are regional clinical As? I would’ve assumed that we’d see more people saying they got As. Anything to keep some hope ig lol

is this the last acceptance day confirmed?
No way to know for sure tbh. I think someone called admissions and got a non-specific answer, so we likely won’t know until WLs start, which is when reg admissions As end.

Idk why, but I am just having a tough time figuring out how full the class actually is. The GroupMe showed 170 students this morning, so 172 now with the new As. Ofc, a lot of people probs haven't joined to GroupMe yet, so take that number with a grain of salt. If I remember correctly, the class size is 260, so maybe they WL a ton of people and fill the rest of the spots from there? However, that's definitely not how the WL worked prior cycles so I really don't know anymore rip.

No, I went through the regular application, not regional. Surprised by this A, actually, I had written this school off as a R since it's been so long since my interview.

Thanks for telling us this. Congrats on the A, so happy for u!

No news for me yet, but I expected that. Interviewed 1/9. Holding out hope for a waitlist at this point. Do y’all think they’re done sending out post ii Rs so I can breathe a bit? 😅 Ive seen in last year’s thread that they were sent the Monday before the final A wave in Feb. And the cycle before that, I didn’t see any Rs come out after their final Feb A wave.

Congrats to those who got As! I'm already bracing for an R or WL at this point, which is a bummer since this is my only MD II so far. Fortunate to have already been accepted DO, though. Would it be worthwhile to send an LOI at this point if that's the last A wave?

Yes I'd send a LOI if I were you. It'll at least keep you on their radar for waitlist. The worst that can happen if what you're expecting anyway.

Congrats to everyone who got the A today!

In terms of what happens next typically, expect WL to be released within next week or two? If so, what is outlook on that typically
