2024-2025 New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There appear to be rumors circulating online that some programs have capitalized on the extended AACOMAS deadlines to not only interview and waitlist students late this cycle...but might be taking super-qualified applicants who applied early for the 2025-2026 cycle and asking them if they want to join the class of 2029 instead.

No news of this school doing such a thing, but it could be a huge reason for the lack of waitlist movement at said med schools, and causing a ripple effect here.

Now if this is true (remaining skeptical), personally, I think it's downright dishonest and shameful for a school to do :/
I read numerous posts on Reddit about this practice but I didn’t see NYITCOM on the list of schools doing this.

Nassau County is one of the best places to live in New York.
True, but does the cost of attendance allow for rent this high? From what I see on the website, the COA estimates appx 1500 a month? Is it that everyone has roommates? Im worried now if I get off, will I find a place to live? UGH this si so stressful, I just try to remind myself its good stress about the future.

  • The Cost of Attendance (COA) limits how much you can borrow through federal loans, but it does not restrict what you choose to pay from your own savings, income, or family support.
  • As long as you don’t request additional loan money for the $2,000/month rent, financial aid won’t stop you from spending more than the budgeted $1,500/month.

$2000 was just a number I was estimating if it’s more than $1500

Just forget about today I hope it’s this week Because if they won’t send email this week like they said then don’t even call them anymore knowing this is all cap

Maybe actual movement this week is doubtful but maybe early next week? At least this is something, crazy I havent heard a single peep from this school in like 4-5 months until today.......

This is what I’m worried about I hope most of us get off the waitlist by end of next week because we are on crunch time with others schools timeline

They really waited until June 13 primary application deadline to send us the waitlist email interest

Is it a bad sign that I did not get the confirmation email this morning?

I also applied to the bridge program about a month ago. Maybe they're not even considering me for this year since I applied to the bridge program?

But in the email they said specifically that we wouldn't be removed off the waitlist so thats still really weird that you didn't receive one. Its not in any of the misc folders in your email?

Nope I checked everywhere. Did any one that applied to the bridge program get the confirmation email? The only thing I can think of is I have been sending frequent academic updates and basically begging them to let me in the past couple weeks. Last email I sent was yesterday.
