2024-2025 Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine (Provo, UT) Noorda-COM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
After the seat deposit deadline last year, 8 ppl posted here, all on the same day, that they moved from WL to A. As a cross-section, this seems pretty decent movement.
Thank you so much, do you know when these deadlines are?

They’re expected to receive federal loans for the 2025-2026 school year
Oh, interesting. The financial aid video they sent said it'll take months, potentially up to 22 months, after they graduate their first class (spring 2025) to receive federal loans.

That is/was based off of how long it took for ICOM who had numerous issues. Normally it doesn’t seem to take that long tho

I want to accept here but the loans are my hold up... I don't have a cosigner to get private loans, and my credit is not the best. My two As are in the same boat on not having federal funding. I thought once I got an A, the stress would be over. Guess not.

Noorda‘s lender, zuntafi, is really good about providing loans. There have only been a handful of people with credit so bad that they needed help from the financial aid department to figure out how to secure funding

Get creative! You've done the hardest part; you've got the As!!!

I don’t think federal loans will be an option for next year. Don‘t quote me on it, but we are waiting until April or May I think to hear back on whether or not we gain full accreditation. After that, the school has to submit a ton of paperwork, that it has actively been on top of preparing, to the dep of ed in order to get federal loans. I think your guys‘ second year will be the first of federal loans

@current students, how do you feel about the grading system at Noorda being letter grades? Does it make the student culture become competitive instead of collaborative? Does it make you feel like you're constantly studying for every single point on exams and to get A's?

As far as the grading system, it serves as motivation to do well in my classes. I try to utilize as many resources (discussion in pods, reading the textbook, 3rd party resources, YouTube, etc) and adjust my studying habits as needed to make sure I do well. So it’s probably a bit more stressful but it helps to know the information well now so we don’t have to stress out when it comes to studying for boards later on, which is the ultimate thing we’re working towards

Currently, Zuntafi is no longer an option for incoming students, according to the financial aid department... I emailed the financial aid department, and they said that more information regarding loans and stuff will be available towards the end of this week. Thank you for your response!

Interesting, I am learning about this from you, but yeah it seems zunta fi is changing how they operate moving forward

We got the COA with information about it today and they are offering a different lending option I guess? Still a little nervous about this whole thing.

They’re expected to receive federal loans for the 2025-2026 school year
That is unfortunately not the case. They will be eligible to receive federal loans but with paperwork back up and other things in the Department of Education it looks like they may not have it until 2026-2027 or even 2027-2028

Yikes! Thanks for the clarification.

Hello! I want to apply this month (i know I'm super late in the cycle). My stats are 3.0 sgpa and 3.3 cgpa and an MCAT of 509. Is there any chance I can make and is it still worth applying? I really want to start this fall, so looking for any advice especially from current students who may know the landscape.

A buddy of mine applied last January and got in. Definitely a chance, especially given the score you have. I‘d apply now though, like right now

any current students willing to chat?? Im between two schools, Noorda and a Pass/Fail! Would love to hear your perspective! 💕💕

is there an accepted students group?

After you pay the initial deposit they send you a link to the accepted student Facebook page.

Also just editing to add that you need to provide the group admin your student email (which is sent after the deposit is paid) before they give you access to the group.

Good luck! My interviewer was extremely kind and personable. She was very familiar with my application *video* which I appreciated because it made the interview feel conversational.

I also flew there! and LOVED my experience! My interview just watched my video, but did not read specific details of my application. She was very kind and personable. I too have a low GPA and MCAT, and was A!

omg yay, that makes me feel so much better! Thank you!!

Has anyone heard of any waitlist movement so far? I was hoping to see something after the deposit deadline back in December but so far have only noted one person move to an A. Not sure if there were just fewer who reported or if we can still hope for a big wave of WL to A soon. Anyone in the know?

I haven't seen anyone accepted since before the 12/14 deadline. I'm pretty sad about it b/c last year, there was so much movement at that deadline. So many of us were optimistic that this year would follow that same trend. I have heard that their received applications are up by 30% compared to last year. Perhaps that is why; IDK. Does anyone know when that second deadline is/was?

Where did you see the 30% uptick in applications statistic?

On a recent Medical School HQ (YouTube), Dr Ryan Gray mentioned he's friends with one of the Deans at the school and said he had told him. I believe it was the Jan 8 live program if you want to search for the replay.

CycleTrack is reporting that someone got accepted on January 16th! Movement might be slower but must be occurring
