How does your home page change when you get an acceptance? Waitlisted?

My MCAT wasn't great either. I went through all the posts in this thread to find out how long the average decision takes. I saw someone accepted with a 500 and another accepted with a sub-500 (they didn't say how far below 500). I don't think this is something to worry about. I've heard that if they're interviewing you, the acceptance is yours to lose. I think it's really sound advice; they don't want to waste their time to interview you if your stats are an issue. I think A vs WL is completely dependent on the interview.

Despite initial nervousness, I really enjoyed the whole experience. I was in the A group so we got the interviews out of the way right away. My interviewer was really great; she made the experience more like a conversation.

I've been working a lot which has helped me to not obsess over hearing from them but now that I'm off, it's really hard not to keep looking! LOL

I would have to disagree just slightly with this take. The interview is very important, and it’s true that if you land an interview that your stats are likely good enough for admission, but the MCAT plays a large role in your acceptance vs waitlist. I do not think the A is yours to lose at Noorda unless you have very stellar stats. Now, I don’t think rejections happen often post interview, so the waitlist/A combo might be yours to lose if your interview does not go well, but the A is not something you can look at as yours to lose unless you have a very safe MCAT and GPA. The single greatest determinant of how well you do on level 1 and level 2 isn’t your grades during med school or your class rank, it’s actually your MCAT, and Noorda prefers 500+ with 125+ subsections. Now, do plenty of people get accepted with a sub 500? Yes. However, that isn’t the general trend. I say this so that you guys have a realistic understanding of the process. Noorda takes a holistic approach to the application process, but this does not mean they overlook an MCAT that predicts lower chances of passing level 1. Also something to consider, Noorda has tons of waitlist movement, so a waitlist is not the end of the world. All this is to say, if you get waitlisted, do not antagonize yourself over every detail of your interview if you thought it went well but end up with a waitlist. The waitlist is not a shortcoming on your part. Making the waitlist at a medical school is quite the achievement. Viewing the A as yours to lose is, for most interviewees at Noorda, not a healthy mindset. Now, obviously you still want to kill the interview, I just don’t want anyone to get crushed having gone into it thinking that the interview was it for the final selection, only to come out with a waitlist. The interview, the MCAT, and the GPA all carry good weight. Remember, just because your MCAT and GPA are good enough such that you will likely be okay in medical school and thus reasonable to accept, does not mean that the A is yours to lose. Other people with stats that have also met that minimum threshold, and even maybe surpassed it beyond how you have, are also interviewing. If you both nail the interview and are competing for the same seat, one of you will likely have to go on the waitlist, and the other will likely be offered immediate acceptance. I really don’t want to get anyone down, I just don’t want people to get their hopes way up only to receive an outcome that makes them think they messed up their interview somehow when really a good interview can still end up with a waitlist based on the fact that the entire applicant is viewed when it comes time for admission discussion, including aspects outside the interview.

Has anyone who interviewed the week of 11/11 heard any news? I noticed last year's thread was fairly quiet from mid-November until mid-December when ppl got pulled off the WL. I think we'll get news before 12/14 but OMG! this wait is excruciating! LOL

anyone else really love noorda but struggling to decide between noorda and a few more established schools to put deposits on? I am so torn on what to do solely because noorda is newer and a new BYU med school is also coming to provo so not sure how that will affect noorda but.... idk just really loved this school when I was there

Radio silence! I think we’ll know by the end of next week!

BYU’s plan to make a medical school won’t even start more than likely in a few years down the road. I’m guessing 3-4 years at least depending on how fast their process goes. For the short term, it doesn’t really pose an issue for current students and probably students who join Noorda within the next cycle or even two cycles (assuming the aforementioned timeline). Admin sent an email the same day BYU’s plans were announced so there’ll be more info in the future as they talk with BYU

This is definitely going to be me today! 😆

For those who were accepted this cycle, were you given a seat deposit deadline? I am not seeing one indicated on their website.

12/14 at 11:59pm.
You have to sign in to the portal. It’s under Acceptance & Enrollment tab

Has anyone in the 11/13 group heard back yet? I’ve been super anxious as I love the school, and I kinda expected we’d hear back by at least today? What time did you guys who heard back get the update? Like was it late at night or early morning? Anyone have any idea when we’d hear back lol?

I was also in the 11/13 group and haven’t heard anything.. I don’t even know the amount of times I’ve refreshed my email and/or logged into the portal to see if I got an update. I’m hoping something today but absolutely no idea when we’re going to hear something.

Someone on Reddit said they called noorda and were told that because of the holidays it will be a few weeks until we get an answer and may or may not be this month

Yeah I have no idea either, I’m genuinely hoping it’ll be today

Was this call made in November indicating it won’t be November or legit this month as in we won’t hear back till January? 😭

Thank you for calling! End of the year is diabolical when everyone else heard back in ~2 weeks 🫠
Right?! Like I understand the holidays and I hope they all enjoy some needed time with family but I would assume it pushed it back a week or so. Not a month 😭

I just called and was told hopefully by the end of the year
Hopefully by the end of the year? Oh my! When they said "2-3 weeks but it could be a little longer due to the holiday," I thought they only meant Thanksgiving and we'd know this week. Now I'm really jealous of the ppl who knew in 1 week; it looks like it'll be closer to 6 weeks for the 11/11, 13, & 15 interviewees. :-(

At this point I will fly to Provo and volunteer to go help with filing or whatever paperwork they need to get done so that we can have our decisions earlier 😂

I think I've just torn some of the strings of my heart sending my Acceptance withdrawl email today. Dang I loved everything about this school but I had to let it go ... GL to everyone applying this cycle!

Very hard for me to turn down this program! I am not going to lie I was so incredibly impressed with everything. However, I have decided to withdrawal my A! Good luck to all of you🙂

Any current students still in the thread? I was recently accepted and I have a couple of questions..

I'm wondering if someone could speak more on their research experience at the school? I know someone touched on it earlier in the thread (thank you btw!!) but wanting to know more about how its been going for folks that have been at the school for a while.

how are the private loans going? what have the interest rates been like? I watched the financial aid video they provided and it looks like FAFSA will most realistically be available 2026/2027. Not being eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness in later years (because of the private loans) is something that really concerns me! But maybe it's not that bad/more manageable than I'm making it out to be, idk. Let me know your thoughts!

Some additional info that nobody asked for but maybe someone here will relate to: I'm really gravitating toward Noorda, from everything I've heard and learned, it sounds like an amazing program. I'm torn between them and PNWU (I'm a washington res who wants to ultimately practice in WA so it might make more sense to choose PNWU given their connections here). But tbh if i were to choose with just my heart, I'd go with Noorda. I just feel like I'd fit well there!

Good luck to everyone who recently interviewed!! I hope it went well 🙂

Hey! Current first year

As far as the research goes, they really push and encourage us to start doing it. However, they also do realize that not all specialties are that competitive, and don’t necessarily required that much research to be done. But they have said that they want every student to have at least one publication before graduating. They had us attend a research symposium where all the professors talked about and presented what they do research on projects that they have going on. From there, we were able to rank our top five choices with whom we want to do research. We’ve been put into our research groups within the past week or two and have gotten things set up. For people who got over 85% on any exam so far they have been be able to begin research this semester. For those who haven’t hit that threshold, they’ll be able to begin research next semester. I started research this semester and the professor with who I am paired up with is very reasonable and gets quite a few publications. He let us know that we can disregard research on weeks that we have exams. Overall, he has a requirement to just do 2 days of research every week (where you spend through the four hours doing whatever it is for the project). He also has other projects that we can do simultaneously where we only have to write a portion of a particular paper and we can get our names on that publication, which I’m involved in as well.

That’s awesome! Thank you so much for the info!!
