2024-2025 Penn State

a. Please indicate the entering first-year class year(s) to which you applied, and (if not indicated in 1b above) explain how your qualifications have changed since your previous application. (Maximum 75 words)
Do they want me to list every school I applied to last year? Or just the entry year 2024 information?

I just did the year. No way I can state all of the schools and still have space to explain the change in qualifications in under 75 words

Is anyone seeing this thing when you try to log in that says "enter token"? I don't know what to do.

Actually they emailed me the token, but for anyone else who is having this issue know that it took like 10 minutes for me to get the email, which is why I was confused!

Does anyone else not have a non-science letter? Wondering if they’re lenient about this or not :/

Did the payments go through properly with y'all? I don't want to accidentally double-pay, but it's saying I haven't

Did you log out then log back in again? I haven't completed this secondary yet but that's worked for other ones I've submitted.

Anyone else getting an error message when trying to log into the secondary?

for this question - Is there a unique aspect of your application that should be considered by the admissions committee? - are you all approaching it to talk about like any gaps in education, major adversity that resulted in bad grades, etc? or as a "what makes me unique" question? I'm thinking that it is suggesting the first option and just want to make sure i interpreted it correctly. thanks in advance!

I interpreted this question as "what makes me a competitive applicant/what are unique experiences or factors on my application".

Does anyone know more information about the accelerated Clinician Scientist Pathway? Unlike the other accelerated pathways, the website has very little information on it. It is also not listed on the secondary under the Unique Pathways Programs page.

Is Penn State strict about their LOR requirements? I see that they require a LOR from every institution that conferred a degree. I received two associate's degrees in 2019 while I was a dual enrollment student in high school (was 16 at the time), before I even became a premed student. I obviously don't have any LORs from that long ago. I emailed the school for clarification, but I'm curious if anyone could speak to this before I waste $95 on the secondary.

I had a different question about LOR requirements. I emailed them on a monday morning and they responded within 10 minutes. I would just wait for them to respond, but they seem to be lenient.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you ask them about? I was wondering about if their non science recommendation letter is a hard requirement but haven't gotten in contact with them through the phone and their email response was extremely confusing lol

Im in the same boat!

I told them I had 2 science faculty letters, 1 PI/MD letter, and an MD letter. They told me this would fulfill the LOR reqs. So, sounds like non-science doesnt have to be faculty :)

I emailed them to see if not having a science letter would disqualify me from consideration for an interview. Let's see what happens..

Lol I'm so in my head on this but on the secondary it literally says that you need to confirm your LORs match the requirements but they the person above that their LORs would meet the requirements. I'm so confused as to if my LORs are going to be an issue or not. Did you ever get a response to your email?

Who I spoke to the on the phone gave me a vague answer basically stating to "submit what you have an it should be fine." For reference I have a PI letter from grad school who also taught me during undergrad, a prof on my thesis committee who also taught me during undergrad, and a DO letter from the clinic I work at. Unfortunately no letter from every single institution because I transferred from community college to a 4 year uni 6 years ago lol.

Lol the vagueness is what's getting me. I just feel like they saying all this and later on Imma get an insta rejection by some adcom that thinks I don't know how to follow the rules

They said my 6 letters fulfill the requirements, so I guess i am good :D

Since I dual-enrolled in high school, I emailed them about not being able to get a letter from professors from way back when. They said it was fine and to just get it from people who know me well and can attest to my character.

I am in a similar boat. I emailed them but haven't heard back. Should I wait to submit my secondary until I hear from them? This is the only thing I am waiting on.

For the people who took 2+ gap years, how are you filling in the first question? 75 words is almost no space.

Since it was 75, they are definitely not looking for details. I just stated what I did and when

Yeah, in my case of 3 gap years, that isn't possible if I'm also including what I'm doing this year.

For the letter requirement, according to their website, if we have a prehealth committee letter packet we don't have to worry about having science professor LOR's right?

I interpreted this question as "what makes me a competitive applicant/what are unique experiences or factors on my application".
i kinda took this as like, is there anything we should consider, which i was going to talk abt having to work throughout college to support myself so it limited my time availabilities for other stuff? or should i talk abt a strong aspect of my application (not entirely unique, just strong research & cool MA opportunity during gap year)

should the unique essay be like a diversity essay??? I'm URM so idk if I should put that I speak Spanish maybe throw that in, and I was a Spanish interpreter, but idk if I should just skip this question lol

I think having to work to support yourself during college is unique!!

That's exactly what I wrote about!
