Honestly I have no idea, but if I had to guess, I would say they meet a few times per month, discuss/rank candidates and then make final decisions once per month before sending a wave of decisions.Does anyone know when/what days adcoms meet? I think they mentioned it during one of the information panels but I cannot remember and I am making myself crazy by checking my portal over and over for updates
During the interview on 12/16, I think they said they meet next in mid-January, so that it would be at the very least a month for us to hear back and potentially more. Not 100% sure in that memory.Does anyone know when/what days adcoms meet? Interviewed on 12/6 and also told mid-January. Hopefully next week we get the Eligible emails.During the interview on 12/16, I think they said they meet next in mid-January, so that it would be at the very least a month for us to hear back and potentially more. Not 100% sure in that memory.
Fingers crossed sooner than laterdo we think calls next week or tomorrow bc of MLK day?
A person from admissions setting up the zoom meeting with the dean. For those who have gotten the call, has it been the Dean or someone who works in the admissions office? Congrats to all 🙂
In the same situation as you, waiting for acceptance after eligible since October. I looked through previous years on SDN and there were people who started on the wait list in the 60’s who eventually were offered acceptance in the Summer. Not sure about ranking on wait list, but I would imagine being on the eligible list means you have higher WL status come March, considering they rank interviewees based on some type of numerical rubric. (see this link that I found on their website: https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/sites/1506/2020/04/Medical-Student-Selection-policy-04.10.20.pdf )Help...Interviewed early September and eligible email on October 1st. High stat ORM and I understand WASU is stat blind. No acceptance yet and this is my only interview so far. Losing hope and starting to prepare for reapplication. Do any current/previous applicants or current students know around how many are placed in eligible list? This question been asked and asking again… eligible to waitlist people get higher rank than current waitlist? Any idea on until what rank from waitlist got offered last year? Give me some hope on eligible to acceptance in this cycle.
Thank You! Good to know there was some remarkable waitlist movement. In the same situation as you, waiting for acceptance after eligible since October. Yes! We are very lucky. I think a big draw to WSU is their LIC (longitudinal integrated clerkship) where you are more closely working with physicians for a longer period of time than traditional 6-week long clerkships. This gives you the ability to sometimes get more experience because you can establish yourself and your skills to a physician and potentially gain more hands on experience and knowledge. I know students at WSU applying for residency have said that they’ve been able to scrub into surgeries that they may not have been able to without the LIC, and are leveraging their experience for fourth year internships and residency programs. Also though, I do think this comes from their locations all over WA (tri-cities, Everett, and Vancouver) and working in more rural environments because that means you won’t be competing with a lot of interns and residents who are also wanting to scrub into surgeries etc.Hey everyone! I am assuming that everyone on this thread is a Washington resident and therefore likely also applied to UWSOM. We are so lucky to have two great in-state MD schools 🙂!!! Anyways, does anyone know anyone who got accepted to both and chose to attend wsu? I have been accepted to uw and am eligible at wsu, so I might be in situation where I have to pick between the two. What are the pros and cons? Their missions seem so similar, both are pass fail etc.
Both are amazing schools though and congrats on getting in to UW and hopefully WSU too 🙂Yes! We are very lucky. Did they say how many II/A/R/WL have gone out? Or was it specific to you?Just got an update email explaining current state of their admissions season.
Both schools are great, and have similar missions with a different regional focus (UW in WWAMI and WSU in Eastern WA). Personally, I am likely going to stick with UW since their prestige carries weight which will matter if I want to go into a competitive specialty/program. If WSU gives a significant amount of financial aid then I would sway towards them, but all things being equal UW will give more career options. And if you're accepted to the Seattle campus the research opportunities are stellar and far surpass WSU.Hey everyone! I would expect they leave and message with a callback numberHi dumb question but does anyone know what happens if they call and you don't pick up? (like if I get the call when I'm at work)
Thanks for the response! Do you know if wsu tends to give more financial aid than uw? I would think things like the Washington college grant would be the same since it’s through the state and that uw would maybe have more funding for financial aid outside the FAFSA.Both schools are great, and have similar missions with a different regional focus (UW in WWAMI and WSU in Eastern WA). I'm not totally sure, I know UW only gives need-based aid based on your parent's income. I was under the impression WSU gives need and merit-based aid (based on your mission alignment) if you send your fafsa by the deadline this month. Thanks for the response! It doesn't sound like they have gotten to our packets/made decisions on our cohort yet based on the calls that came out earlier this week. I think the latest date I saw here and on Reddit was 12/06, so I would imagine our packets are being taken to the adcoms meeting this week/next week and we will hear back mid-February. I was hoping they'd be able to get to ours and give us updates by mid-January but it looks like the cards weren't in our favor. My fingers are crossed for us tho! This process is so nerve-rackingHas anyone from the 12/16 interview cohort received a decision? I'm incredibly anxious...
I'm in a similar boat. I haven't heard back from WSU but I did get into UW. WSU seems like an incredible school with a really cool curriculum and a more interesting student body (probably because MCAT/GPA are totally blinded throughout the process) but UW-Seattle would allow me to stay in the city where all my support network and community has been for the past decade. Both schools are great, and have similar missions with a different regional focus (UW in WWAMI and WSU in Eastern WA). I think the cost of attendance ends up being relatively comparable (but I could also be severely misinformed, I'm basing this off of two people I knew last cycle that got into both)Does anyone know how soon after you interview that you get the notification saying that you are eligible or not?

If I did get accepted into WSU, it would be a difficult choice for sure—especially if the cost of attendance is starkly different with aid/scholarships.
It’s hard to say. I received my eligible email in late November I think and I haven’t heard a peep since.+1 Eligible! Interviewed 12/16. Any idea the chances of getting the A after receiving an eligible status?
