2024-2025 Texas A & M

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
just wondering... do y'all think that new donation will be implemented in time for the class entering summer 2025 to receive scholarships? it seems like it would take time to work out the details, and 2026 would be the first year to benefit from the donation. ofc idk how those things work, as my donations to universities are usually less than tens of millions of dollars as they are usually in the form of paying for parking.

EDITED: changed "class of 2025" to "class entering summer 2025"

According to the dean Dr. Waer, "The gift will create four endowments supporting full-tuition scholarships for medical students, our pioneering rural medicine program, an innovation and discovery endowment for research and emerging technologies, and a Dean's excellence fund."

The gift, especially the scholarships, is truly a godsend, but I wonder if every student from the class of 2029 would be eligible for some sort of scholarship or how that would work.

The way the scholarship program will work it wont just be for new students.
also notice that it will "support full-tuition scholarships" but it does not hint that ALL students will get full-tuition scholarships

Anyone know if they will host some sort of open house for interviewed applicants. I remember them mentioning in the info session that they would send us something in December about it. I'd really like to visit and see the medical school before ranking!

I’m not sure, I do know that last year they had a pre-match celebration the month before match day which was pretty much a tour of the campus and meeting some of the staff and students (this was for applicants that pre-matched, not all who interviewed).

I’ve asked some of the ambassadors and they aren’t sure if they are having this again, or just a big day for everyone who matches. You can schedule a tour of the school whenever though.

How long on average does it take for a school to appear in your rank list?

Do you know how you schedule a tour? I have not found how to set up a tour specifically of the medical school.

Could any current students that are on the Houston track describe how theyre liking clinicals/Houston life? I know its closer to Willowbrook but still, how are you enjoying the area?

I'm not sure if anyone is still waiting, but when I interviewed for ENMED (OOS, interviewed on 12/02), they said that was the last interview date for ENMED. They also said that, given the holidays, they would probably not be able to decide/vote until January.

Thanks for the update, good luck!

same question here, I was advised to send a LOI but I'm not sure that a&m accepts those and if it is appropriate before receiving an II
based on what I was told during the interview, I know that ENMED takes LOI, and I would assume that A&M does too. I believe there’s an option to upload one in the portal as a document. For ENMED, they told us to email it to their admissions, and then they would upload it to AMCAS. However, I’m not sure about the usefulness of one prior to receiving a II.

Hey, happy holidays everyone! If anyone here has received the GroupMe for the accepted students from the AggieAmbassadors, could you please DM me? I have sent them a message but still haven’t received a reply with the link yet.
Same here! I messaged a couple of times before the holidays but haven’t heard back yet

Can students choose their campus or is there a slight chance you may end up somewhere else? ( plz give honest answers). Ik they say that they do their best to match you with your first choice but realistically is that true? I assume most people want Houston/Dallas. Is it possible for that many people to get their first choice?

Remember “Houston” does not mean downtown Houston

Im not sure what the numbers are but i think most people got their 1st or 2nd choice. I know of a handful though who fell down to their 4th choice so its a possibility. You submit a little essay about why you want to be at a certain campus and they will take that into account esp if you have strong connections like SO or family.

Dallas and Roundrock were very sought after for my cohort at least.

Thank you so much.

The numbers for the 2024 class looked as follows: 1st choice 90.2%, 2nd choice 8.3%, 3rd choice 1.5%. The rotations in Houston are not in the med center exclusively unless you’re enmed.
There are currently 200+ students in Dallas, 200+ in Bryan college station, 200+ in Houston and 129~ in round rock.

Is that 200+ in Houston including both Enmed & Willowbrook? Because I’m pretty sure Willowbrook is currently only taking 20-30 students per graduating class (could grow more in the future).

Where’d you get the numbers from

both enmed and md and at the interview orientation they showed those numbers.

It is important to note enmed is a separate college now so those Houston numbers might change.

Have any pre-matched students received a scholarship email? I saw only one person on here mention that they got one. This person also got accepted on the same day as me, so I was just wondering if I maybe do not qualify for the scholarship or if there is still time for me to receive one.

Also if there is any current A&M students on here, are most scholarships (merit) offered after match day or how it works?
