Can someone help me understand this requirement? I have a year of chemistry with lab and a year of orgranic chem. I did not take organic chem with lab though. Is the requirement generally speaking that I should have 1 year of chem with lab and 1 semester or organic chemistry or 1 year of chemistry and that includes 1 semester of organic chem with organic chem lab?

One academic year (2 semesters or 3 quarters) of college-level Chemistry, including at least one semester of Organic Chemistry with laboratory. This may include Biochemistry.
I think it wants you to have one semester of organic chemistry in the laboratory. Most schools require that you take the lab component of organic chemistry, with most requiring at least a year's worth of Ochem with lab (some allowing substitution with biochem). I think a way that would possibly allow you to circumvent this requirement is if your school did not offer the lab component. However, I feel like that would be a stretch. Your best bet would be to email the department and see if any of the courses you took may substitute the requirement, sometimes that works. Otherwise, if you are still in college, could you take the lab component?

wait so if we are a 2024 graduate, then we don't talk about our gap year activities for Q2?

If I haven’t gotten a secondary yet is that cause for concern? I am OOS and applied day 1, verified early June. Applied MD PhD tho idk if that makes a difference for the secondary timing.

I think the 2023 graduate thing may honestly be a typo because if you look at last year's secondary it says the same thing so they were asking your plans for the upcoming academic year

When were you verified? Are you IS/OOS?

If I do not identify as a part of a marginalized group, should my whole answer just be "No"?

I'm answering 1 and 4. Also, 75 schools... am I reading right?
Got it I am doing the same. And yep..i'm just crazy. I decided if money wasn't a problem, I would do as much as possible.

plz don't roast me for this question
but how are y'all answering #1? like expand on my activities how...? All my activities? or just relevant ones to UCSF?

its optional for people who may have started new activities

Is anyone also applying to UC San Diego, the marginalized group prompt is exactly the same and I'm wondering if I just copy and paste my response that's ok or if I'm going to be somehow flagged for like plagiarizing myself lol

You’re safe, they are your own words and one school does not get to read another school’s secondary essays

+1 IS today. Anyone know how we should be answering the first question?
From what I can guess I would not treat this as an optional question (even though it definitely seems like it), personally I'm going to try to give some stories about my activities that I wasn't able to use in the primary and also try to talk a bit about what my goals are in the future and how that ties into my experiences

edit: I misread your question as "if" we should be answering it lol but I hope this still is helpful
