OOS +1

Received secondary 4 hours after submitting competency checklist. It's the same "Compassion, Curiosity, Creativity" artifact + 250-word impact statement as previous years.

In addition, there is a 6-minute video essay (interview?) portion that I believe is similar to prior years. The prompts are secret. I can post the instructions to either part here if anyone would like.

There is no mention of adding 100 words for each artefact, like in previous years. Do they still want us to do that?

They got back to me and stated that the 250-word abstract is meant to be how we address our artefacts. So, no 100 words per artefact, just the abstract

Last year they had started having only the 250 word abstract without separate space for each artifact. Be sure you are not relying on solely older school-specific threads from beyond the past cycle when thinking about prompts.

For the impact statement, are you guys speaking about every experience included in your artifact for each section (compassion, curiosity, creativity) or are you just picking the 1-2 most powerful instances of that for each section?

"We have received your primary and secondary applications, and your materials will be sent to faculty members for evaluation.

Learning about creative and innovative applicants like yourself has truly been thrilling and inspiring. Applications will be evaluated through February 2026."
Has anyone got this email after submitting the secondary?

How long did it take for carle to receive lor once you send it from amcas. I just realized that I never actually sent them and I'm pushing the deadline a bit.

is anyone else having trouble with playback for audio in the video essay for Carle? I checked after I recorded to make sure there was audio, but upon reviewing at the end, there is none. I have reached out to admissions, but am a little worried since my due date is tomorrow and they have not replied. has anyone else experienced this?

yea i think so. unfortunately, they didn't let me redo the video interview and said my application would just be reviewed without it 🙁

Damn I had the same problem lol. And this was after I tried brainstorming ideas about telling them about myself, about how I can be a better physician innovator that fits their mission, how I overcame adversity in a difficult group setting, and anything else not listed on my app. A shame I stuttered so much and spoke more about my passion for something not even STEM-related than anything else

Hopefully they like my artifacts and take mercy on me being a low MCAT ORM lol

Nah fr tho, I think Carle should actually do interviews. These kind of virtual essays barely assess who we are, not to mention there's not enough time to answer all 4 questions imo 😪

Does anyone know if they are doing showcase invites this year? Seems like last year they ended up not doing showcase days and sending out decisions in January.
They said they were planning on doing something similar this year to highlight their program, but said it’s still in the works and more details would come out later. Like sometime between mid-October and mid-November. At least that was my understanding.

Y’all got me scared for this video essay 😭 I’m doing it tonight

My advice is to talk quickly. 6 minutes isn't that much time to get through 4 questions, especially since the second and third questions require more thought. Good luck!

Yeah…. I would like to bleach that from my memory… it wasn’t absolutely terrible, but it wasn't that great 😭 Welp it’s over now. We live, we learn, we move on.

I'm curious what did y'all end up discussing

I spoke way too much about my undergrad major and something adjacent to it that didn't even end up being STEM related lol

I just did 3 asynchronous videos back-to-back, so it’s honestly a blur, but I definitely remember talking about my senior design project and my job

Does anyone know if they still do the showcase events? I saw that they didn't do them last year based on the previous thread, but I wasn't sure if that was just a special circumstance or if they just aren't doing them moving forward.

What are showcase events? I've heard about them in this thread but didn't really know what they are. Are they like IIs or does everyone get invited?

I believe they use them like interview invites, but applicants aren’t evaluated during them. They are just information sessions to allow us to get to know the school better, and I believe it’s optional to attend. However, only applicants that received showcase invites could be accepted. Based on what I’ve seen previously, it looked like they only sent out showcase invites to about 10% of applicants in the past. (Someone please correct me if I got any of that wrong!)

Here is what their website says:
We do not do in-person interviews. We do have invitation-only events for our most competitive applicants. These events do not include any evaluation of the applicants' however, applicants are expected to be professional as part of the process.

In the FAQs they also say they do not accept updates after you have submitted your secondary, and that the first admissions offers will probably be made in January.

Also slight neurotic question but maybe not neurotic but when I did my video essay I didn't treat it assss seriosuly as I wouldve a normall II so I only wore a polo shirt. Is that going to harm me at all or do u guys think it wouldnt be as big of a deal?

I don't think that would hurt your chances, but that's just my opinion

Oh wow that's so interesting. Were you able to find when they typically get sent out?
Not sure if you were asking about showcase invites or acceptances, but based on previous threads, showcase invites usually start coming out early/mid October and acceptances in January like @wysdoc stated

Is anyone here planning to apply to ASU as it opens apps on AMCAS? It's also an EnMed focused school.

A little late in cycle to apply, but if anyone in the future is also looking for additional schools that integrate engineering like ASU, I think Drexel, and Virginia Tech also advertise them. Lots of other schools have strong engineering collaborations too like Texas A&M, Stanford, UCSD, UCSF, UCLA, Michigan, Harvard, University of Pittsburgh, and John Hopkins to name just a few.

Hi friends, will Carle have "invitation-only events" (or showcase events etc) this year? It sounds like they didn't organize such events last year (or in anyway to tell applicants whether they are in the shortlist).
