1. If you are not a Kansas resident, what is your specific interest in applying to the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

2. Please describe how your actions and experiences align with the vision statement of the University of Kansas School of Medicine: “To improve lives and communities in Kansas through innovation in education, research, and health care.

3. Describe your health care experiences that involved direct exposure to physicians’ clinical duties and how they have shaped your desire to apply to medical school.

4. Describe examples of leadership experience in which you have significantly influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.

5. Beyond academics (grades and MCATs), describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to address this challenge.

6. Give an example of what you have done to make your community a better place to live.

7. If there are academic discrepancies in your application
that have not been explained in your application, use this space to clarify. Examples may include unexplained gaps in time, multiple undergraduate institutions attended, multiple course withdrawals, inconsistent academic performance, inconsistency between academic performance and MCAT scores.

8. If you are currently enrolled, or plan to be enrolled during the next academic year
in a graduate or professional degree program, please describe your status within the program and your intention to complete the program. You must also request a letter from your graduate program advisor or from the dean of your professional school. This letter must include acknowledgement of your application to medical school and a description of your status in the program.

**Students in the MD program are considered and expected to participate full-time in MD program requirements and accompanying activities (e.g., service, research, etc.). Our experience over multiple decades has informed the SOM that participation in outside activities (e.g., employment, other degree programs, etc.) is not conducive to successfully navigating our curriculum and overall school requirements. Failing to meet program expectations can place the student at risk for administrative action, including dismissal.**

9. If you are no longer a full-time student, briefly describe your current employment, community, and/or educational activities.

10. For Repeat Applicants Only: Since your last application, note any relevant academic, employment, and personal experiences that enhance your ability to be a better physician.

Good luck to all applying!

I’m IS for KU and have not received anything yet. Based on CycleTrack it looks like they sent the first wave of secondaries on July 25th last year so we maybe just wait until then?

Oh, thank you! I haven't learned how to do Cycle Track yet, really. I'm just learning SDN now...

What are the campus options for KU? There’s a secondary prompt asking to select a campus location but I don’t see any information about different campus options

You’ll have to go to their website and read about their 2 campus locations, Kansas City and Wichita.

I'm interviewing soon, and I've had my secondary submitted for a while now. I don't see any option to rank campuses, nor have I ever answered that question when filling out my secondary.

Is this only for ED applicants? Because the secondary says: All applicants will follow the same admissions process. After the interview cycle concludes, they will be given the option to choose between attending the Kansas City or Wichita campus.
You can only rank your campuses if you're offered a seat in the class!

those who have gotten post-interview decisions already, how long did it take for them to get back to you? most of the admissions team during my interview said 3-6 weeks, but there was also someone on the team who said they were hoping for 2 weeks

Mine took 2 weeks, and they usually come out on Fridays from what I heard

might be being neurotic but what do yall think about being pending? also, did you feel like you did well on your interview/do you mind sharing stats?
it is what it is lol, a "wait til march" is better than an R, and KU has lots of waitlist movement. DM me if you want more details

Does anyone know how many students who receive the 'wait until March' email get accepted? I'd like to know if the majority get accepted initially or in March when interviews are complete. Thanks!
