If you are invited to interview there is a calendar that shows up on your secondary application portal with available dates. All interviews take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Early Decision Program Interviews: Aug 19 - Sep 21, 2025

Regular Pool Applicant Interviews: Sep 18, 2025 - Feb 12, 2026
 
I applied on 7/24, and my application was processed on 7/28. Should I be concerned I haven't received a secondary yet? I applied ED. Is anyone else still waiting

they are rolling admissions based, so I think that if you have yet to receive secondaries, they will come eventually. The deadline for ED is in September 5th I believe. If it's getting to the end of August and you still have not received anything I would email them.

That is a tough question. I'd say it comes down to three things: Location, education medium, and residency opportunities. You have to consider where you want to spend the next 3-11 years. If that's Savannah, Columbus, or Macon, then Mercer is a good fit. If you'd prefer Augusta or Athens, then MCG is going to be better for you. In terms of education, you'll be a well trained physician no matter what school you go to, they just have different ways of training you. MCG is more lecture based, while Mercer focuses on problem based learning. When it comes to residencies, Mercer has several programs that guarantee you a spot in internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, or OBGYN. Several of these programs also reduce the program from 4 to 3 years while also making your tuition free. I will say that if you're trying to go into super competitive specialties, then MCG might be a better fit. Mercer does produce graduates that match into hyper competitive residencies like dermatology, but they are more focused on primary care than MCG.

Does anyone know how campus selection works? Do you get accepted to the med school as a whole then rank your campus preferences? And when do you find out where you'll be going?

You select the main campus you'd like to go to and a back-up after acceptance. Campus assignment is first come first serve, so early acceptances get first pick. You usually find out a few days after selection if you got placed at your top or second pick. If your top two picks fill up then they put you on a wait list for those campuses.

I was informed during interview that all decisions for ED (acceptance, rejection, or deferral to RD) will be released at once on October 1st, give or take a day. Again, I'm not sure if anyone else heard differently.

She said to me and everyone else in our group that finished being interviewed to not wait and that we "can breathe" till that date as they are this year going to release the ED decisions on that day (again she said October 1st, "give or take a day"). If you're deferred to RD, then yeah, you'd be in rolling admission. She said everyone may be informed/notified though at varying times around or after that day as she said it's the interviewer that may give us a call, or we may just receive an email.
 
Hey everyone, has anyone had trouble with the residency form? I'm currently out of state for college and not at my permanent residence. Does Mercer expect us to return home to get the document notarized?

No, any UPS store near you will notarize the paper for you. You don't have to return home for that. Search up any store that notarizes documents near you.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but does this reflect poorly that it's OOS?

Nope they wouldn't know if it was signed OOS. A notarization is just someone signing the paper to verify that you were the one who filled out the form. It's just to verify that you are who you are.

It says to have it notarized by a notary of your county of residence. I would email them and make sure it's ok given your circumstances. The county does show on the notary stamp, so definitely double check.

You are correct, I forgot to read that part. j_203 you will have to return home to get it notarized. Sorry for the misinformation

I think you should email them, as it does say "notarized in county of residence." I'm sure you're not the first person who was away at college who has had this problem, so I would reach out and explain the situation. If it is too expensive/not feasible to return home in the near future to get this notarized, mention that and they might offer an exception.
