I’m in the middle of dinner, haven’t read the thread since yesterday, see I’m in the lead.

Do you not agree with myself and Stagg that the way he has presented all of this role vs alignment vs ability vs affiliation is not confusing? Or couldnt be for someone who is new or has never played with them like myself?

I was confused about it at the beginning too, but chaos' later explanation to me made sense. I've played with chaos before, but he played a little more passively in those games than what he's done so far.

To me, it felt like it came from experience with CYO and less as a 'bold wolf' move, but tbf I have no idea how he wolves. However, I didn't feel like he was being intentionally misleading at any point

Well to be fair, when he says don't tell us your role, only affiliation, it still makes sense with defining role = aff + ability. He's saying don't give us the whole thing, both pieces. He's effectively saying don't reveal your ability which would give away your role.

Right, but I didn't understand that was what he meant at the time. He seemed to be using "ability" and "role" interchangeably. I was already confused about how roles were chosen, so the different language was just even more confusing.

I just expected more than there was, but I guess momentum in that sense is incredibly subjective.

The vote doesn’t feel quite right to me either. Maybe just my instinctive dread over D1 votes (I don’t think I’ve been in a game we correctly yeeted D1? Maybe one game?), admittedly. But I don’t agree with the feeling that her analysis was insincere because she wasn’t considering the way we chose roles. Her posts pinged me a little but not enough to yeet her. And I have… misgivings about following Dubz and shorty’s D1 vote 😉

I just realized that I think this is the first non-speed game I've played without her...

That's not my memory of how she played as a wolf in a full game (Thankful) I wouldn't make comparisons to speed game meta, personally

Not much since I suck at reading her like I said last game. Feeling a bit better but don’t have any real wolf leans right now. I think there will be some good info buried in the mountains of D1 fluff, but won’t have time to dig through it before close.

I’ve got plenty of “if this, then that” thoughts, but nothing worth dropping a vote on. I want to look at Chaos and Zenge more as well as how the wagon built. It seems kind of opportunistic.

I don’t know but maybe it could benefit different scum factions to know about others vs being town? I don’t know how those win conditions work with mafia, aliens, and wolves. But also no one is going to scum alignment claim so I kinda don’t think it’s really useful.

Idk if I agree with this, at least with Chaos and Please.

Strongman and Ninja are very powerful roles for a scum faction to have.

Could they have gotten something even better? Sure it’s possible. It just seems more likely that they’d pick village roles than they got even better scum roles.

Especially when you break down the dual selection consideration.
Assuming they picked scum, then their other two roles would have to include a PR that’s even better for scum than these, and include another scum affiliation for the affiliation choice.

Seems like a lot to bank on when the more likely answer is just that they picked village roles.

They could pick softer abilities simply for the fact that they think it “clears” them. Like right here in your post. Now I’m kinda side eyeing you for not seeing that.

Or because they only had town roles to pick from. Just as youre pointing out some people may have only had scum to pick from. I dont remember this much emphasis being placed on discard roles so soon in the game in CYO I. Seems strange that the first thing Chaos wants to do is start revealing.

I discarded this one in the first roll that didn’t end up going through. If I recall it had the added downside of being seered as alien yourself.
