Class of 2020... how you doin?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Will anyone else be at the Humane Alliance in Asheville, NC February 17-28?

My kitties get to be demo cats in our neuro lectures on cerebellar deficits next week, and all I can think about is I hope I can motivate them to MOVE. Last time they came in for a class, they figured out really quickly that if they just laid there and purred, they got all the pets they wanted.

Going to bring an arsenal of toys and treats so hopefully this time is more successful.

I think for me, this semester is best summed up by the fact that I have a ton of work I need to get done and catch up on, so I spent last night building an agility course and teaching my less-wobbly cat to go through it at speed

I feel like this was a much better use of your time, tbh.

I have one test in-between me and a week off and... I give zero ****s. This will go well. Too bad it's equine surgery and I know nothing about fracture repair

Yup, I laid on my couch and dissociated for like two hours last night instead of studying

Food animal med surge exam today was a total :barf:show. Just awful

There is a new special clinical elective being offered during one block next year that I would really like to do but I'm on a required 4 week rotation during that time that is going to be really hard to move

:boom:

I do my first surgery this week and I am 0% ready. Send help.
It's not as bad as your mind works it up to be! I really am not interested in doing surgery at all as a career, and don't have any background in working in a clinic to have been previously exposed to it.
But it went really well for me, and she's doing great at my home now!

hi long lost friends!

I promise that this is the same Rocky that you’ve always known. I can’t remember my log in information and wanted to start over anyways so this is my new account.

Over the course of 2nd and part of 3rd year I’ve kind of distanced myself from this site, but I’ve been lurking for the past week or so, and it made me realize I miss all of you and I need you guys back so we can support each other through the little time we have left in vet school. So this is me, coming out of hiding once again 🙂 sorry that I disappeared!

Not vet med related but holy **** you guys, a house in my neighborhood EXPLODED yesterday and somehow the guy who lived there + his doggo and cat made it out alive. It’s crazy. The house is completely leveled.

holy ****
do they know what caused the explosion?

This sort of thing has happened near me several times. Once or twice it was a gas leak, once was related to meth(? I think) manufacturing in the house. In one case everyone in the house died, but the dog happened to be in a solid sided crate when it happened and the crate got blown across the street, with the dog inside singed but otherwise unharmed. PD called some of our officers out to get it and I think we ended up sending him out to a rescue to be adopted out.

Just leave a candle burning near your water heater. This won't allow gas to build up and have a spark cause an explosion.

Snow day tomorrow!! Technically just classes before noon are cancelled, but third years didn't have anything in the afternoon tomorrow anyway. 😛 Husband and I underestimated Kansas weather and tried to make it back to Manhattan today rather than leaving yesterday, but ended up having to get a hotel room near Kansas City once visibility got bad, and I-70 was closed west of Topeka for a while.

Glad you got off the road when it got bad and are safe!!!
But YAY FOR SNOWDAYS :biglove:

Yepppp. This boat sucks. 4th year could be epic, or it could suck
Between my externship and research project there are only so many ways my schedule will fit together....
