Nope. Nothing for me (despite dreaming about receiving my PIN the entire night).

I had that dream two nights ago and in that dream i got waitlisted so I’m hoping. I’ll probably call soon if i don’t get it

I just checked my portal and the box indicating my decision is available is no longer there...I just wanna know. Is it still available on your portal @youngkal ?

To those of you who didn’t get in this year, I cannot stress enough: DONT GIVE UP, and do file reviews!! I was flat out rejected last year to Cornell as well as all of the other schools I applied to... it was disheartening to say the least, but I met with Jennifer Mailey and she was so incredibly sweet and helpful. I did everything she suggested to do to improve my application, and it worked out for me this year! So please don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do it, because you can if you work hard enough!

Well, I can make every day for the info session because I literally work here. Not sure which day I'm picking yet, though

Okay accepted/waitlisted peeps can you still go view your letter?! Because I had the box yesterday but mine is now gone as well Cmac92

Hey everyone, I’ve been reading SDN forums for a while now and finally made an account! I was waitlisted to Cornell but have an interview with my IS school tomorrow (UF). Does anyone know if the information sessions are different than regular information sessions for the vet school? I went to one in August and toured the school and was curious if I needed to attend one of these as well?
Thanks!

The information sessions are definitely different! If I remember correctly they post a tentative schedule about what the day is like, but involves a mock tutor group which was really helpful, lunch with some faculty, and more information sessions. The prospective student days I think are more geared to...what it takes to get in, whereas the admitted/waitlisted student days are more about what life is like as a student.

2 other questions I have, if we are waitlisted does not attending an information session have any impact on whether or not we are called off of the list? I would love to attend one but it’s not just a simple drive to the school for a weekend. Also, if we are called off of the waitlist in the next month or so do we still have the same time to decide if we would like to accept the offer (until April 16th) or do they require a quicker decision so they can offer another waitlisted student a seat? Sorry for all of the questions! Thanks in advance for any help and congratulations to everyone who got accepted!

Whoa...whoever told you that is rude af.

This is kind of an insane process, don't give up hope if it's your dream. Do you have veterinary hours? That seems to be a huge deal to these programs - I've seen some premeds with 3.9s & pubs try to switch over last minute and apply vet and get rejections across the board because of zero/non diverse hours.

Also, I feel like often times these acceptances are so damn close anyhow, and while hard work goes into prepping, at the end of the day there's an element of luck there as well.
I have like 20,000+ hours. I’ve worked with animals my entire life...even at a zoo for 2 yrs and had my own bird rescue for 7yrs. Vet tech for 10 yrs. She also said I’m not a minority so that’s also against me? So yeah, rude AND racist. 🙁

Telling someone they aren't a minority isn't racist.

Unless you're trying to say her views on affirmative action somehow making it easier to be a minority is racist. In which case, yes. Definitely racist to say poc have it easier.

Well, it isn’t to me, but to everyone that isn’t white it’s pretty racist. She said “Oh honey, you’re too old and white, you’re not getting in. They want diversity <used air quotes>”
Ok fewf I think we are on the same page lol. I thought you meant she was being racist towards you but yeah 100% being racist saying people have an easier time getting in if they are a minority.

Dafuq?! Your ECs sound incredible - all of those hours and research/pubs?! I'm so sorry you're not having any luck, it seems like you'd be a shoe in! 🙁

oof - so I don't know if I can give you the greatest answer here because...truthfully, I don't know. I don't believe that whether you attend a day or not directly impacts your chances on the waitlist, but I think that emailing or calling the admissions department is the best place to ask that question. If you are called off the waitlist though, it should be the same deadline as for everyone else.

Someone from admissions told me once over email that if you have toured before prior to the application to mark the box when they asked because it shows you are dedicated and interested in the school. I took that as if you had toured, they looked at you positively in that regard. So I’m not sure if attending these info sessions will also have the same effect. I’m waitlisted and am attending partially for that reason but also because I have never seen the school 🙂

Honestly y'all I think going makes a ton of sense - I think it does show you're interested, and since it'll be a smaller group of students you may have a chance to chat with some of the adcoms or at least make a favorable impression versus nothing at all. Also, if you've done more since applying you can maybe update and impress them with your new accomplishments!

But I definitely get the dilemma, it's expensive and tricky timing if you're in school.

This is probably strange to ask so early but I'm obsessive...Are you guys planing to wear like interview outfits (business professional) or more casual stuff? I wouldn't dress to nice for a tour, but for an admitted students thing I'm really not sure...

I was wondering the same thing! But I'm assuming it's more casual 🙂 it's going to be cold so I'm probably going to wear some nice jeans and a button down flannel or long-sleeved shirt with a jacket/sweatshirt.

That's a really great question! I think if we have a tour where we potentially will be going outside I would think nice jeans and a nicer sweater or long sleeve would be appropriate. It will likely be cold when we all go!

Registered for the February 9th date as an alternate...sort of afraid I'm going to go, really love the school, and not get pulled of the wait list. is anyone thinking of trying to bring a guest? If by some miracle I do get in...I'd like my fiance to at least see the area so he can decide about moving with me vs doing long distance. Is anyone else going on the 9th?

EXACTLY!!!!!! I can’t stand asinine ignorant people - I’ve busted my arse to get where I am and I know of PLENTY of poc who have done the same as well! And it was EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for me to make the switch from a career path in academia to veterinary medicine, and I’m only 25!!!!

Also, I am an African American woman who was rejected last year from Wisconsin, Cornell, and UPenn but I decided hey you know what I’ll complete my graduate degree as a PhD instead of a Masters in Biology.

It’s refreshing and so comforting to know there are like minded people out there, especially that are in the midst of applying to veterinary school.

Anywho - back to video games and my vacation before the semester starts lol.

Good luck everyone AND STAY HOPEFUL!!!!

IS accepted! So so so so excited for this! I'm going to the February 9th session, but now really wishing I could do the 2nd since that's when everyone else is going! Congratulations to everyone that has been accepted [can't wait to meet you all!] and to those that were waitlisted!
Everyone else, don't give up!! One of the absolute most amazing veterinarians I have EVER worked with was rejected her first cycle, and then her 2nd was accepted out of the country. Try and try again! ❤

It's written that the information session ends at 5. Is it too risky to fly out of Ithaca at 6:30 pm? That's the last flight I can get on Friday night, but I'm not sure how traffic is between the school and the airport, or if the information session ends on time... Any thoughts?

I can’t tell you anything about the info session or the traffic because I’m just creepin through threads and didn’t apply to or go to Cornell, but if you do take that flight, just sit in the back near a door so you can quietly leave if you have to if the session doesn’t end right at 5 (or if you feel you have to leave a little earlier)

Yeah I think you should be ok as long as you definitely leave at 5 or sneak out a bit early like SkiOtter said... the airport is only about 10-15 min from campus

Hey y'all!

I was talking with a couple of folks and we were thinking of maybe starting a FB group, so...would you guys be cool with me making a Cornell Vet 2022 FB group? That way we can get to know each other better before the information sessions! 😀

Unless y'all already know of one, haven't seen any yet, or someone else wants to do it!

Yes do it!!! 🙂

Heck yes! The more the merrier! Plus that way maybe we can coordinate rides to airports n such for the info sessions!
First post on SDN 🙂 - Congrats to everyone who as accepted! I'm waitlisted but going to Feb 9th info session (can't go to Feb 2nd 🙁) - looking forward to getting to know you all on FB, at info session and hopefully in August!

Does anyone know when we will get a confirmation whether we’re staying with a student or not?

Driving for the Feb 16th session from the Boston area if anyone wants to hitch a ride! Will be leaving on the 15th and staying until the 17th. Would love someone to chat with for the adventure!

Hey y'all! Just posting an update of sorts - the Cornell Vet financial aid tracking page is up and running - you just insert your login info from your regular tracking page (where you accept your offer and such). Financial aid info (FAFSA, CSSProfile*, etc) are due by Feb 1st if you want to receive a potential financial aid package offer from Cornell by March 15th-ishhhh** aka before the April deadline to accept offers.

*I've never heard of this before 😵 and going to start this one tomorrow, anyone know if this is just as extensive as the FAFSA? I just submitted mine today.

**Stalked prior forums lol Mwa hahahhahahahaha

@NimbusC Hmm...I'm trying to log in and I am not able to! What was the website you used? It says something about pop-up, but I have diabled it...so I don't know
