Missed the deadline, but got an extension to September 1st. I would suggest everyone who is late ask rather not sit back and not apply. My application was literally 2.5 weeks late without an extension. I didn't even have a good reason, I just admitted my fault and they gave an extension.
That's cool. Good luck. Are you IS?

Is it fair to assume that if the first batch of acceptances is sent out on 9/4, then those who have submitted their secondary application and have been marked complete since July will find out if they have been accepted/rejected/waitlisted on 9/4? (This is of course if you consider that most people here are saying that applications will be reviewed in the order they were complete.)
According to the last few years threads, MSUCOM send out a batch of acceptances every wednesday. sdn posts about 10 acceptances per wednesday so I would imagine the number is much higher, at least 40. 40+ acceptances per wednesday is more than a handful, at least in my eyes. They do not reject you right away. If you don't get in or waitlisted they will send you an email at the end of March saying you are not in. 😡
They only accept a handful of people right off the bat.
I submitted my secondary 7/2 and my LORs 7/10, but my application status check says that my LORs aren't received aka "incomplete." Is anyone else having this problem?
Also, does anyone know the class size for 1st year? and if they give preference to IS? I'm OOS.
As far as LOR they take time become "complete" bc MSUCOM downloads them in batches. Give it 2 weeks.I submitted my secondary 7/2 and my LORs 7/10, but my application status check says that my LORs aren't received aka "incomplete." Is anyone else having this problem?

Refer to my post above gianthamAnyone know if the stats for admitted students are the same for in-state or out-of-state?

Class size is 315.
Its a state school and 86% are Michigan residents. Although its a state school, its has been stated before as well as previous threads that the reason 86% are MI residents is a self-selection process. In other words, the adcoms arent giving preference to MI residents, the students who are applying are mostly MI residents. I have been told that the adcoms at MSUCOM select the most qualified applicants regardless of state of residency.
Hope that clears things up for ya.
Yeah thats what i was told, however the disclaimer is that they have never done the calling thing before. so maybe they will decide not to do it as time gets closer.According to the last few years threads, MSUCOM send out a batch of acceptances every wednesday. sdn posts about 10 acceptances per wednesday so I would imagine the number is much higher, at least 40. 40+ acceptances per wednesday is more than a handful, at least in my eyes.
If you click back a few pages, Jay contacted an admissions officer. They stated they will be calling to send out acceptances rather than emails. Also, the date is supposedly the 5th according to the adcom.
I was reading through this thread and some people are saying different things about whether or not there is a rank order after your application is completed.
I just got an email from MSUCOM and they said that there is a ranking order.
+1If you don't mind, could you copy and paste that email (or, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, PM it to me)? I've been trying to wrap my head around this "rank order" procedure, and it would be really helpful to see precisely how they define the rank order process in their own terms. Thanks!

Thats what I believe michaelr is talking about. MSUCOM has clearly stated there will be no ranking system this cycle (i.e. mcat, gpa, volunteer hours) like that last few years.Any chance they meant they're ranking based on order received? I'm curious about this as well
Didn't realize it posted first time. Sorry! As far as LOR they take time become "complete" bc MSUCOM downloads them in batches. Give it 2 weeks.

If you cant rank based upon merit, they either have to rank based upon date of completion or IS/OOS. Granted that MSUCOM does not necessarily give preference to IS, I believe they will "ranking" based upon date of completion.
Just my thoughts 😛
I give up trying to figure it out then...Hey guys,
The e-mail from MSU simply said "There is a ranking order."
I'm sooooo confused now. O well just have to wait and see.
I give up trying to figure it out then...
Acceptances start coming out in 15-16 days, thats all that matter to me haha
Time will tell ay! Coming up on 2 weeks tomorrow! This right here. There's been a lot of contradicting info posted on this thread, and I doubt MSU actually has everything ironed out and set in stone yet. What will be will be and we'll hopefully find out soon.
All depends on the other things....obviously the highly highly competitive applicants will have higher mcats, but just because you have a "lower mcat" doesnt mean a ton. GPA is huge, ECs, volunteer, etc.Anyone know how much these guys factor in MCAT score. I know the average is 27 or whatever, but what if I have a 24 or 25?

lastly,
THIS WAITING THING IS TERRIBLE!!! haha
For my own sake, I hope they love the MCAT more than anything else, but everyone's application has different balances of strengths and weaknesses that I'm sure they weigh equally. And I agree, waiting is killing me.
From past threads the break up has been 30% GPA, 30% MCAT, 40% Volunteer hours/primary app.
If you check out the last few years threads the first day acceptances go out to high gpa >3.8 avg mcat 26-28, and >1,000 volunteer hours. Just from what I've seen browsing 10' 11' & 12' threads.
Avg gpa isnt sky high.. 3.5ish... SMP oh my. I dont know what your gpa is but SMP can be a kiss of death if you dont get >3.8. Risky..That's understandable. The most deserving applicants should get first acceptances. I'm just hoping a school takes a chance on me and I can prove them right. I really don't want to have to do SMPs. I guess we'll see what happens. Good luck all

I think your cGPA is fine but your science gpa might hurt you. That might be my only choice, but we'll see. My cGPA I think was a 3.3 and sGPA was a 2.95 or 2.98. 29 mcat and a ton of volunteer hours.

Hope for the best though! Rooting for you Albein!
Yes, science gpa is weighed heavier than cumulative.Yeah isn't that the one that's more important. I guess we'll see. I'm disappointed they don't interview because I feel I'd impress during an interview.

Very negatively. To be blunt, they view it as the inability to follow directions. They state they ONLY want 2.How does MSU view extra LORs? I sent two already, but found out after that a strong LOR I have been waiting on would be uploaded to Interfolio tomorrow. Bad timing.

I guess the sarcasm wasn't obvious in my reply...lol stop trolling Ubquinator. I called a few days ago. they are understanding that most students send letter packets via VE. They fish out the 2 letters you stated on your secondary and ONLY read those.

Curious OOS here, are there any current OOS (or knowledgeable IS) med students who could comment on the hefty 80k price tag on MSUCOM?? How in high heaven are you paying this back? From the great reputation of MSUCOM, it seems worth an investment but 320k+ debt is not appealing
