Really? I'm paranoid that because my matriculation agreement says my information is being processed that I'm not really accepted yet. Or I'm just afraid of telling everyone I've been accepted just in case. But I'm also seriously excited.
 
Any of you who are paranoid and not sure if they're really accepted agreeing having the accepted student checklist, you can call admission and confirm. However, if you have the checklist, you are most certainly accepted so rest assured. Any form of contacts from them can take days or weeks so don't be alarm. Your matriculation agreement should be up soon though.

That's how I'm feeling and probably won't say anything until I get a call or email.
 
Complete yesterday (9/12). This is a great school and I'm excited to hear back from them.

On interview day I heard a lot about the "open door policy" but I feel that many other (less expensive) DO schools have the same policy. I have heard the faculty are great teachers but with med students these days spending so much time on independent learning I dont see the immense importance of this. Board scores are good but I feel that students can achieve high board scores at other schools as well. Facilities are great but not sure how they could be shared so well with such a large class size. The rotation sites and the city are great tho, but does that justify the tuition?

There's no question about the quality of the facility or the faculty at the school. Does it worth the cost of the tuition? There's not a good answer for everyone. Ask yourself what you value and see if the school fit you. For me, my first interview was at a dump of a school so when I first came to azcom, I was very impressed. This was a priority for me, nice campus and an ACTUAL campus instead of just a single building. Also, there are a lot of other health profession programs at the school which give you the opportunity to meet more people than just ppl in your class. Being from California, Glendale Arizona felt a lot like home and have everything I would need. Nice weather, good varieties of groceries/Asian supermarket and an abundant of restaurants, and close to the Phoenix. The weather is excellent most of the time as well and no snow which is big plus as well. All of this in culmination was what led me to choose the school even though the tuition is probably one of the highest. For me, being in a comfortable environment was very important and definitely worth more than the 15-20k extra in tuition per year than other school. The quality of the education here is excellent as well so I'm very happy with the decision I've made. So again, it really depends on your preference. If you can see yourself succeeding in a different environment and paying less tuition, go for it.

Hi,

This message is meant for current AZCOM students M1-4. My interview is next month, and I am hoping you could share with me what the school is really about aside from what's on the school website. For example, are there any programs you like or unique or notable aspects about the school? What's going on currently with the Midwestern Glendale campus? I was checking under University News also, but if you have anything you want to add, I would really appreciate the additional insight as a prospective student. Also any tips or advice about the interview process or interview day you want to share? What kinds of questions to ask the faculty member or student after my interview is finished perhaps?

So I just noticed that my "APPLICANT checklist" changed and it now includes "required prerequisites". I am not really sure what to make out of this..

I read in last year's posts that that's possibly a sign of being wait listed. I don't think anyone ever confirmed those posts though

I am accepted and have had the required pre-requisites box in my applicant checklist this whole time. Everything is green for me minus the bachelor's degree.

Just got an email placing me on pre-interview hold. Bummer. Idk if it's true here but in other places, when placed on EFI, you have like a 25% chance of eventually getting an interview. :/ Anyone know where that percentage falls for this school?
 
II this morning, Dates available were in early December, 33 MCAT and 3.86 GPA.

I heard back ~10 days, but I think it depends on when their admissions committee meets. We were the last group interviewing that was going to be included in that particular committee meeting.
 
Yeah from what I understand, the adcom generally tries to meet the week after your interview. I know other ppl in this thread who interviewed on 8/26 got in less than 7 days later
 
My interview for AZCOM is next month! What are some cool opportunities for volunteering and community service to underserved? I know about only one and that is the HOME project which is student-run clinic to serve the homeless community. Are there other opps students participate in, especially during their first and second years?
 
I fly in for my interview early on October 22nd, but don't interview until October 24th. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what kind of things I should look to do with my free time. I am not familiar with the area at all.

If you're into the outdoors I highly suggest hiking Camelback mountain in Phoenix. It's a bit of a challenge but I did it the afternoon after my interview and the summit was 100% worth the climb.

South Mountain is also a good hike with many different trail options based on experience level. If you're going to think about hiking though, it can't be stated enough to bring plenty of water! We've had so many people die this year on our mountains due to heat exhaustion it's insane. Part of being a dry heat is that the water is sucked out of your body quicker than you may be used to elsewhere.

As far as other things to do, there's Top Golf in Scottsdale and Gilbert. Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Mill Avenue in Tempe all have numerous bars and clubs. Phoenix also has some nice museums. Scottsdale Fashion Square is a large mall with lots of stores and restaurants (but can be on the expensive side). Of course, if you have a lot of time to kill, we are home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world: the Grand Canyon.

Where are the possible rotation sites?

East phoenix, west phoenix, tucson, south LA, north LA, san diego, kankakee (IL), chicago, modesto/turlock

most students stay in the phoenix area
 
Is anybody who is interviewing tomorrow in town? I flew in earlier and figured I'd see if anybody on here wanted to grab dinner.

and they have free shuttle to transport you to AZCOM too. Shuttle leaves at 7:00 🙂

I do! Ok, so as I understand it, once you receive an acceptance you have a certain time period to accept, correct? And then you must also put down a deposit? How does this work out if you end up deciding to attend a different school - is the money lost? Thanks in advance for your help!
