Hello! Congratulations are in order, first of all 🙂! When I had applied originally, I was also looking for more exotics exposure. I ended up not getting accepted into any other program but I've been happy with MWU so far. I was a little bummed that I haven't learned about exotics yet but, after surviving 2 quarters of my first year so far, I feel like I haven't learned enough yet about basic things to even think about learning exotics. Also, 4 species is a lot so far so my brain is very happy I don't have to learn anything else additional so far lol. I know that, starting sometime 3rd or 4th year, we start our clinicals and then we can get exposure to exotics, among other different specialties.
Keep in mind that all programs are geared towards preparing you to pass the NAVLE so, because the NAVLE mainly tests on dogs, cats, cows, and horses, that'll be what most curriculums will be focused on. However, MWU does have an exotics club (I'm on the board so you can hit me up for any information!) which puts on exotics/wildlife events which are very informative.
I definitely appreciate how close everything is. If you look at a map of MWU that they provide on the website, you'll see that everything is super close together. I currently live on campus but I know lots of classmates who live right across the street on off-campus apartments. Given that all programs are certified to teach you to become a vet, I'd probably think about what matters the most to you. If given the choice, and it looks like a lot of people in this forum would agree with me, I'd choose whatever the cheapest school is. It's a lot of tuition to become a vet and MWU is definitely NOT the cheapest program available. Otherwise, if you have the finances available, touring the campuses wouldn't be a bad idea either. Regardless of which school you choose to go to, you'd be making a good choice 🙂
