Midwestern University Chicago (CCOM) Discussion Thread 2012 - 2013

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What opportunities are those?

CCOM is a wonderul school dude. Just do some quick research: Fantastic rotation sites, great match placement, good mission/values... definitely pretty up there on my list.

I've been complete for a couple weeks now, yet today I received a snail mail letter saying I met the minimum requirements to complete the secondary and that I should submit it soon. Did anyone else receive this letter?

Yeah just got it. Its essentially a duplicate of the email they sent out for a secondary invite.

Me too! My sister was visiting this weekend and I stared at it for a few minutes and was like are you freaking kidding me?!? Was not expecting a letter this soon at all.

Hahaha I had the opposite reaction. I'm currently waitlisted so I saw the letter and I was like :biglove: and then I opened it and I was like :bang:

Major bummer!

Beside the 29 medical rotation sites, an awesome first two year education and a pretty awesome match rate...... not much.... but what more do you need😀

could you elaborate on "an awesome first two yr education" please ? thanks

Oh I'm aware. I was thinking worldchanger had some other things to talk about.

Anyone complete here? Or do they take a few weeks to process Interfolio letters like other schools?

🙁 I sent my letters in 2 weeks ago, still says its "expected" on the checklist.

I sent mine in on friday 07/06 and it was received by CCOM today.
I would double check interfolio and then call in and ask them if they have received the letters. Maybe they have them but haven't marked it yet.

hmm... I sent my letters via virtual evals (undergrad pre-med office) on 6/29. CCOM says to wait 2 weeks before contacting them about the checklist. So I'll give it till Friday. If its still not there, I'll contact them Monday. Good luck on your app though!

Good plan! Thanks, good luck to you too.

Complete for a few days now. Still "expected" for AZCOM though.

Completed as well.

Took just about a week for them to get the recs from Interfolio.

Completed this morning. I checked on the site last night and they got my last two letters processed yesterday.

I submitted my primary on Tuesday with transcript/MCAT received. Will CCOM send me the secondary app before my rec letters arrive? They won't arrive until August 1st.

No school requires letters before the secondary application is sent out. However, you more than likely will not receive the secondary until your primary application is verified.

Lors go in after the secondary. Dont worry alot of people are still waiting on lors you will be fine

Just submitted my secondary! 🙂

The questions for AZCOM and CCOM are pretty much the same. Would it be a bad idea to use the same essays for the "Why we should accept you into this year's class" question? Would AZCOM and CCOM each see that you used the same essay, or do they not see applications sent to the other school?

Same answer for me. It's about me and why I'm awesome anyway.

I just got an email saying I'm complete but my MCAT retake score won't be released for 2 more weeks....hoping they won't reject me based on my old score before I get a chance to report my new score (hoping it's higher). My AACOMAS primary shows I had a retake scheduled for June so I'm surprised they didn't automatically place me on hold.

Why in the world would you think they can see applications to other schools? They don't even know what schools you are applying to.

Actually, at some point later in the application cycle, schools must be seeing all applicants' school selections. Everythink is in digital nowadays.

No they can't see where you applied. At some point, however, I'm pretty sure they can see where you have acceptances though.

According to traffic guideline the schools that have accepted you can see what other school have accepted you. By May all schools can see what schools have accepted you. No school can see where you have applied or to how many schools you have applied to.

so i sent my application out 6/29 and haven't heard from any schools.. should i be worried right now?..

sent your application as in, sent your primary to aacomas on 6/29? or aacomas submitted your application to medical schools 6/29?

Checked my mailbox today and had some letter from CCOM. The exact same as an email they sent me a few days ago.

Anyone know when they started interview invites last year?

I believe the invites begin in mid-late August. First interviews are in September! It was posted earlier that they don't start reviewing apps until after this last cycle is complete for them (which is the first week of August).

Also complete, my letters were finally sent out this week. Good luck everyone!

usually mid august and interviews start the week after labor day traditionally (or at east for the last two years) so mid september. first acceptances are out i think early october but not 100% on that one
