Midwestern University Chicago (CCOM) Discussion Thread 2016-2017

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone care to comment on how the interview day is set up? I went through this thread and didn't see much interview feedback compared to most other threads. Are interviews in the morning or afternoon, and do you interview in groups, like one group interviews while the others are on a tour or something? My interview is next Friday so I'm getting nervous and would like to know the deets!

All the interviews are in the morning. You start out your day with a quick overview of the school. Interviews are one on three (usually a DO, Student, and Researcher- I got two DOs and one student). It was very relaxed as far as interviews go. The interviewees are split up into groups of three, so while three people are interviewing the rest of the group is hanging out and hopefully talking. Current students will stop by and talk about the school randomly (which I really liked). After the interview you get a presentation of financial aid and more information about the school. Then the tour starts - it's a really nice campus. After the tour is a quick lunch and then you're done!

Thanks for the info! Seems like a relatively short day which is kind of nice.

Well, I just sent in an update letter and am crossing my fingers for some good news...

Just got back a little bit ago from the interview today. My group was awesome and I really enjoyed meeting you all!! The interview was super conversational and relaxed and all of my interviewers were super nice. CCOM is a great program so here's hoping the next few weeks of waiting for a decision goes by quickly!

Does anyone know how much time candidates have in order to decide after being accepted?

Hey guys, long time lurker! Just wanted to provide some insight in case any one was wondering. I was complete on 8/16 and received a rejection notice that was dated the 2nd of November. A little upsetting as it was one of my top choices, but I just figured I'd post on here if anyone was wondering where things stand with their ADCOM.

IS, Lizzy M ~60, non-trad.

Hope that helps! And good luck to everyone still in the cycle! 🙂

could anyone comment on what they thought of interview day/style?

I thought it was a good experience and went by fast. I checked in before 8:30 and we all went into a room and hung out for a bit. Then a very nice admissions faculty member spoke with us a bit about the school and we also met the assistant dean who was extremely nice and informative. We were given a folder with information and in there is a paper with the interview times and who you interview with. Interviews were from 9:30-11:30 or so, and each lasts 25-35 minutes. Mine went a bit shorter though. The interview itself was very relaxed, my interviewers mainly asked about my experiences listed on my CV. While we were waiting to interview, a few students came in to talk with us and answered any questions. After interviewing we heard a little more about financial aid and such, very brief. Then we went on a short tour with current first years and had lunch afterwards. We were free to go after lunch, I think I left around 1:30ish. Overall it was a good day!

Got the rejection letter today by mail. Complete first week of August. LM ~ 63-65

Were any of you on hold before your rejection? Had you interviewed? Or was this your first time hearing back after complete?

First time I heard anything after being complete.

Not on hold, also first contact after being complete. I dont know if its matters, but about a month ago I was on pre-II hold at Arizona.

Same. Was really surprised as this was one of those schools at which I thought I'd feel at home.

I got my II about 2 weeks ago and submitted within 2 days. How long before I should expect an interview invitation or rejection?

You got your II 2 weeks ago or your secondary 2 weeks ago?

I assume they mean they got their secondary 2 weeks ago, not II. I was complete 9/15 and got my II 11/1, so it took about 6 1/2 weeks.

Has anyone who interviewed at the end of October heard back yet? Wondering if they will give out decisions for late October/early November interviews on the same day. I interviewed 11/4 and I have been dreading checking my mail every day 🤔

The trend seems to be that admissions decisions are made last week of the month so maybe you'll hear back in a couple of weeks.

Yea I interviewed on Oct 31st. They said we should receive a notice before Thanksgiving.

Does anyone know if there is a Facebook group for those accepted?

Holy crap they have been rejecting a lot of people the past few weeks. I know 5 other people who got rejected pre-II.
