has anyone not received a transcript confirmation that sent It in January?
I did not receive my confirmation of access until several weeks after I sent it (online). I actually reached out and they got back to me around a week after I emailed to confirm receipt of the transcript and just said they're very busy. Did you mail in or submit virtually?

Virtually!

I wonder if we will hear anything from NC State CVM tomorrow on the rare day of 2/22/22???? 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
I really wish! But if they just got done sending applications to review then we probably still got awhile 🙁

If it ends up being on April 1 that will make it a bit difficult if you wanted to visit after being accepted...
I totally understand this and am in complete agreement if it was any other school. I think because it's such a super tiny oos class, it's a little different. Almost everyone that is accepted goes because it's an absolutely phenomenal program and they offer is tuition after yr 1.

However, I ABSOLUTELY hope it's sooner than april 1 because the anticipation is so intense!! 🙂

Edit: More time to visit would be super helpful in finding housing though!! For any school.

Good point - this helped remind me to be patient 🙃 do you know how many OOS seats there are this year?

Omg patience is most definitely not one of my virtues. This waiting is super hard for me and gets harder every day lol.

They accept approx 30 I think? They have 20 oos seats and I think the final oos number advancing to review was some enormous# like 1500 😂

Definitely a good point, I just like visiting before making a final decision and I don't wanna visit before the decisions just to get rejected. I have other schools with small OOS too but the decisions are at least by beginning of March. All in all, I just hate waiting so long! 😆

If anyone ever has questions about Raleigh for NCSU I currently live here and actually used to work at the teaching hospital! 🙂
Is Raleigh pretty kid friendly? I’m currently in Knoxville, TN and the crime here is AWFUL. Constant shootings, deaths, etc.
What are some of the burbs within a 30 minute commute to NCSU?

I think we have crime for sure like anywhere else but I've lived here for almost 3.5 years now and have never had any concerns for safety! Ive lived kind of all on each side of the "perimeter" of Raleigh, but some of the more popular areas are like Cary and North Hills but they can be more on the expensive side in terms of housing/rent. If you want a bit more of a commute but generally cheaper rent people will live in Apex or Garner areas. I know some people who live in Durham because that is around 30-40 min from the school but Durham can be on the more expensive side as well depending on where you live. Inside the perimeter of the highway that runs around Raleigh is generally more expensive as you start entering the city limits.

(And when I say expensive I mean for Raleigh, I know other places might be worse in terms of rent and housing costs but from what I was used to where I went to undergrad it was definitely more expensive when I moved here) -- FOR EXAMPLE: (I currently live with two roommates in a three bedroom house with a fenced in backyard and it is a slightly smaller house--for three people and two large dogs, but we pay $2000 total and then utilities on top of that, so I basically pay around $750 every month.) But the little neighborhood we live in is right outside of the perimeter and super close to NCSU and soooooo many families and kid's walk to the bus every morning and me and my roommate feel totally comfortable walking out dogs later at night and everything! 🙂

I would definitely say Raleigh is kid friendly, there's a lot of walking trails and there is an art museum with an outside exhibit area that people are always at with their families and they'll have live music, picnics, etc. I spend a lot of time with friends at brunch or dog parks and people are always bringing their kids and having a good time. I can't really speak much more to kids though as I have none lol.

Lol sorry that was so long, let me know if you have any more questions!

Thank you!!! I have a 6 month old so if I get an acceptance, I just want to make sure Raleigh would be a good move!

yeah it's a cool area!! and it's consistently growing still as well. lots of restaurants, lakes, parks, etc. I have a lot of fun just bringing my dog everywhere with me haha.

*cries in CA rent* I'm from TX but went to undergrad in CA and this is so nuts to me! I lived in a shared room in a VERY small single-story, 2b1Bath with my roommate and another housemate. I paid 1K for my share of the room and overall we paid 4K a month. It was one of the cheaper living situations we could find in the area at the time. I got a better deal after that in an apartment with a single room for 1K and two apartment-mates for a total of 2.5K a month. I'm now living at home with my parents until vet school so yay free rent, but it always is so interesting to see what rent is like in different areas.

Yeah that's why i went back when i was typing that to edit and add that I know for some places that is probably really good rent 🤣 but where I went to undergrad I had a 4 bed with individual bathrooms for everyone and completely updated with utilities all included and an awesome clubhouse with game room and pool area for $450 a month. Those were the good ole days lol.

Whats the FASFA code? I have one but some schools have special vet ones so I wanna verify I've chosen the right one (yes I'm posting this in all the forums of my potential schools so plz don't hate me)

Hi! The code for NC State is 002972. You can actually find all your other school codes by going to the cvm websites and looking under the financial aid tab. That's how I found mine!

Looking in to student off campus options for undergrad can help to get cheaper rent but you will get what you pay for. University Woods is 15 min to campus and costs around $400 to live there including utilities. Most of the units are 4B4Br HOWEVER anyone can live there not just students. It was little on the nastier side, overflowing dumpster and dog poop and trash in the grassy area etc but if you’re looking for cheap rent that’s an option. The condos are owned by various people so definitely check to see because that will vary rent

thank you!
and yeah I tried! I found 3 of them but the rest of them I couldn't get a straight answer from the DVM section of the school's website..I may be kinda dumb tbh but I just wanna make sure in case there's a vet specific one like there is for tufts!

I lived in U Woods one year during undergrad and has the same experience, it was just cheap 😂 if you do live here I would highly recommend living with someone you know. They rent to anyone and I wound up being placed with some people that weren’t students, which made for a rough situation. This was in 2015-16 so maybe they have made some updates, but I also had several issues with appliances.

We had roach issues and I was there 2017-18

Has anyone contacted admissions to ask when decisions will be out? It’s weird for @NCSU CVM to be so quiet this cycle
When I email them, I receive the general response email that decisions will be out by April 1.

I think this has been a really hard cycle for them. They had an enormous increase in app #, some of the staff had COVID, and there has been really bad weather. I think they are working hard to get through everything and focusing on apps, which is why they haven't been active on sdn this cycle. 🤗

Then I will try my best to be patient! 😊

Praying to the NCSU gods today that we hear back within the next week or two. in years past, it takes them around 2 weeks after the transcript deadline to send out decisions. 🤞🏼
Do you remember the date they extended the transcript deadline to? I can't find that email, but that date would be helpful to gauge when we might hear!

I would love to know how many times have y’all applied? This is my first application with them for vet school and from the looks of some past forums…people are on their 3rd application and still not getting accepted 🥲 #nervous

First time for me as well! We are in the same boat 🙂

Have y’all been accepted into any other schools?
