I was complete back in July, any one been waiting for a really long time. Also, they said in a month or two they would credit the application fee and have not done so. Anyone get their application fee or been waiting an excessively long time to hear anything?

I feel that way about NYCOM..been complete since late July. Hang in there!

My app fee was never refunded either, even after I called and asked how they handle the fee waivers. I haven't heard a peep from NSU about anything.

I was complete on 6/27 and haven't heard a peep.

When I interviewed, the lady who did our introduction mentioned that one of their admissions counselors left/was fired and so the overall process would be delayed because of it. Might be a reason for the long waits all around!

i interviewed here 9/26 and still haven't heard back. is anyone else waiting longer???? the wait is starting to become slightly ridiculous.

That is the great thing about credit cards, the charges can be reversed. I would not have applied here if I wouldn't have been eligible for the return of this fee. Doing business this way is fraudulent.

Just received an email from NOVA saying I should contact AACOMAS about getting the refund. I'm feeling the run around coming.

There are a few schools of which my only knowledge was from their website. Nova was one of them. Throughout this process, some of them have really impressed me and they've moved up on my preference list... then there's Nova.

Couldn't agree more. This school seems to have become so large and like a bureacracy. Calling them is nearly pointless. A few months ago I asked about the status of my application and the lady said "my application is under review, I think." I think, sounds like something you should know. Anyways, the only thing I have heard since they took my money was a thanksgiving email.

I called this morning; my application is still under review. I was told they are making decisions every day and sending out acceptances and I should hear back by the end of the year. Good to know.
I feel like if they were making decisions every day more people would be on here on a regular basis stating they were admitted, rejects, waitlisted, etc. Just my thought. I know the admissions committee used to meet every other week, maybe they've bumped it up to weekly meetings on Tuesdays? Let's hope for some good news via email tomorrow!

Be careful. You'll be labeled as a hater if you keep up that talk.

Speaking of which... has anyone from the 10.31 date heard anything? I've seen some November dates and dates previous to 10.31, but nobody from that specific date has heard anything to my knowledge?

Can anyone elaborate on the dress code (for women), I'm curious how many days are in scrubs vs professional attire.

I don't think scrubs are ever worn. OMM has specific attire (basically athletic clothes I think...) and every other day is essentially professional dress. Not like a full suit, but I think it's kind of business casual. I could be wrong.

You'll only wear professional attire for CSEs and when you visit your preceptor's office. Otherwise, you wear scrubs. Some people wear scrub bottoms and a [respectable] casual top, a few even wear business casual. You must be in scrubs (top and bottoms) for exams. You'll notice that during the first week of class people starting to transition from shirt and tie to scrubs. Scrubs are the norm for all colleges within the Health Professions Division. We are all color coded. Medicine is ciel blue.

See above.

Thanks!! 🙂

Sorry! I was thinking about LECOM-B as I was writing that. My bad. 😕

In that case you would be correct!

Our OMM attire is shorts and Nova tshirt. You're required to purchase the overpriced shorts from the bookstore. They just say NSU Osteopathic Medicine.

SDN confessionals:

I went out this Black Friday and splurged. I just bought unnecessary clothes from really expensive stores, because I thought it would take my mind off this whole acceptance process.

Am I proud of what's in my closet? Yes.
Did it help solve my neurotic premed problems? No.

You deserve it! The admissions process is a rough road.

I shopped online. Dangerous. Click click click, oh crap I need to stop. At least when you physically shop you have the bags to remind you of how much you've purchased.

Apologies if this has already been addressed in a previous post. I noticed in the match list they distributed at the interview that there are (what seemed like a significant) number of people who did not match. I think roughly 10. I was wondering if any current students or alums might shed some light on these non-matches and if any anyone else who has been accepted is also concerned or not about this.

Thanks

How pre med students feel when they get an acceptance letter:

Just called for an update and I am still under review. I asked if they had info regarding how frequently decisions were being made and was told they have no timeline. I will be submitting my deposit to LECOM-B, because I don't want to put it off any longer since I have to submit it via snail mail. I definitely want to secure a spot. Anyway, still hoping to get news (preferably positive) from NSU soon.

Did you call the HPD? If so, they're really vague and most of them don't even know what's going on. I was actually told that by a person on the phone from HPD. They said the best thing is to call the admissions counselor/director directly. Though I haven't had much luck since it keeps going to voicemail.

Hi,

A question for those of you who have gotten interview invites to Nova, how long did it take from the time you turned in your secondary until you received the ii?

It has been quite a while since I turned in my secondary (Oct 25) and no word yet (but the Thanksgiving e-mail! Lol)

I heard back in two days, some people have not heard for months. It's impossible to tell from one person to another how long it will be. This goes for all schools.

I was complete almost the exact same time as you and still have not heard anything either. I called last week and was told my application is with the committee under review and the decision is pending. Another poster mentioned they've been waiting for 3 months to hear from Nova, but have heard back from quite a few other schools, so it seems like things could just be going slow here.

Is this the same for those that they interview?
No I actually received a phone call about my status. They don't silently reject ppl post interview. So I'm still pending , but she said I can submit updates and an interest letter . Idk about pre interview though

Really? Go figure. No one has ever posted a Post-Interview rejection that I know of, but there you go.

Quick question.. I sent in my deposit a little over a week ago, is there anything else I should be doing/did people get a confirmation email?

IF you go to webstar, it shows the date of your deposit. Maybe we are waiting for a packet with orientation, immunization info?
