Yes and yes. My guess is that many programs had so many applicants that they had a cutoff for class rank and didn’t even consider anyone below. I have heard from many of my friends that they are in the same situation as you. It’s a very competitive year. Many of the people applying to VA programs are going to be VERY disappointed if they get accepted, unless the “emergency use only” COVID rule gets lifted by the time they start. Otherwise I would say they are better off going into private practice.

Lol this couldn’t be further from the truth. Does a GPR or AEGD help? Sure! But you don’t need it. I have many classmates who have already gotten job offers and contracts to sign for when they graduate.
