Hey guys! Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend 🙂 When you log into the NMS (National Matching System) and click on rankings, are you getting the following statement:

The Rankings section is open between October 26, 2020 12:00 am ET and November 13, 2020 11:59 pm ET.

^I hope this isn't in error because phase II match is during a different time period

Yes, that’s for phase I only. A new one for phase II will open up after results for phase I come out

Hi! If you don’t mind me asking, when did you send your app to U of Toledo?
Or if anyone else can answer this - do programs only call once for interviews? Or do they do them in batches?

Hey, I submitted pass application to Univ of Toledo on June 30th. I think most of the programs call once only for interview by looking at last year thread; but I may be wrong too.
 
Can someone explain how post-match works? Is it true you can only post-match at a program that you've received an interview invitation from?

LOL I apologize. I'm all about being optimistic but it's also my first time applying and don't know how this whole process works so would appreciate any insight on what post-match entails
 
Surprised that UNLV released their interview invites so soon after their deadline (9/15).. Is that typical? I heard they may send out a second round of interviews if people decline but it’s early in the cycle I doubt anyone will be declining their interview.. Womp Womp
 
Yes really surprised that interviews are being given out so soon after 9/15th! Doesn’t really give a chance for ppl that got their apps sent in late... that’s why I was wondering if there was a round 2 of interview invites

hello, for your Houston it says 9/25 which is four days away. So did they already send interviews out?

Do residencies send out all interview invites on one day? If a program sent out invites on a certain day, does that mean they won’t be sending out any more interviews the following days?

I don't think that's necessarily the case. It probably varies from program to program. I know I've gotten invites from some programs with deadlines of October 1st so I can't imagine they've sent out all their invites before their application deadline has even passed.
 
I think it depends on the program.
If you look at threads from past years, most do it all on a single day but some have done multiple cycles. It’s worth looking at the 2020/2019 threads if there’s a specific school you’re wondering about.

I got the rejection letter as well. It’s okay! It only takes one interview to potentially match. I’m sure you’ll get more invites!

I got a rejection as well, that was pretty fast. I was more optimistic!
 
By Friday, all of my applications will be complete. Played this one about as close as possible lol. Any other practicing dentists on here? I'm in NY and work at a foster agency in Harlem.

I’ve been in practice for 16 years, in rural Michigan. Going “back to school” (assuming I match and find a buyer for my practice), is going to be a massive change.
 
I've been practicing for 2 years in pediatric office. Didn't see the reason to go into GPR, so went straight to work! Now, after two years, trying to get into residency... pedo residency that was my last choice when I was in school. Kids are cool, I love them, can talk about pokemon and pjmax all day haha 🙂
 
I'm another practicing dentist who's been out of school a few years! I had the opportunity to work exclusively with kids last year and fell in love with it.
 
Nice nice. I did a GPR after dental school in Brooklyn but all that really did was show me what residency is like lol. Pretty much all my patients have some kind of developmental delay(s) so we don't talk about as many cool things as I'd like, but... still an awesome group to be around and treat 🙂 Hopefully we all match and can put screennames-to-faces at AAPD meetings!
 
So I applied to Bon Secours and did not receive an interview invitation or rejection letter. Is anyone else in this same situation?
 
I applied to Hawaii and have not received anything. Deadline is October 1st so I am confused as to how they sent out interviews so quickly considering there are still people who may have yet to apply. I submitted already but have not received interview or rejection. Any insight on batch interviews?
 
After speaking with the director of my dental school’s pediatric residency, they encouraged me to make sure I apply early to all programs for the very reason some of you are mentioning. A lot of admissions/selections committees are already meeting and notifying candidates of interviews. That doesn’t mean you are out of contention for a spot by applying late or close to the deadline, but if what I’m interpreting is correct, you may be at a disadvantage.

I'll be honest. In terms of batches there is mostly just 1 with the NYU Langone programs. Thia doesn't necessarily mean that there are people who won't reject the interview! Keep your head up
 
Maybe I'm just being hopeful, but the NYU Langone programs made some major changes about their application cycle (their notorious August 15th deadline became October 1st) and their website claims interviews will be given out on a rolling basis.. I'm not sure how similar this application cycle will be to years past, I feel like anything is fair game. Ugh, hate being the guinea pig

Yes, I replied back with my photo attached and she emailed back stating my application is complete but there will be an official confirmation email sent in the upcoming weeks

cheer up!!! I haven't received any invitation yet, either. I am an international student whose situation is really hard this cycle, but we need to keep the faith, right? (Big smile!!!)
