**Official 2022 Peds PASS/Interviews/Match/Non-Match**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think they copied from the thread last year which has their release dates in 2020 (which were all in late September). So, they are asking if anybody has heard from the programs with the thought that maybe they are following the same timeline in 2021 and have released interviews but nobody has posted about them on here yet.
Thank you, @ T00thDr, for clarifying. I kept it to follow the timeline.

Children’s Hospital Pittsburg (email to interview sent out on 9/27). Dates offered were 10/18, 10/22, and 11/1. Interviews will be in-person.

Hey folks - new to this process- I was wondering are the emails one time shot on those dates listed or are there multiple round of emails being sent out?

I don't think anybody really knows for sure... But, in the past, the most common thing is to send out one round of invitations.

There were a few exceptions though.

Havent seen anyone say it:

Hey! So I am debating whether to apply to this ... but probably the next cycle.
Background info - been a GP for 7 years now. Been gravitating towards Pedo through the years and I am just starting to look into the ADEA and all the different programs and requirements.

I would preferably like to stay in Houston unless another program is absolutely amazing and worth it.

I am trying to
1. parse through programs - is the best way to search programs and see their websites for what they offer? Most of them sound very similar in terms of experiences so I would rather get first hand knowledge from current residents. I tried seeing if there is any commentary on Houston Pedo school and didnt see anything so I wasnt sure if people talk about their respective residencies on here? (I know some residents may not want to share the not so good stuff since it may be traced back to them due to limited class sizes).
2. any non traditional applicants here? GP --> Pedo. Is that seen as a pro or con by schools? I would think real world experience would only be beneficial... but again, just testing the waters here!

Any and all advice would be welcome! Good luck to all applicants 🙂
Some programs will only take new students or ones straight from GPR’s. Some are open to people who have worked.

I worked for six years and then went to peds. Two other people in my class, so 3 out of six of us worked longer than five years.

The class below me has a doctor who worked for over ten years before peds residency and another with 5 plus as well.

Others will almost reject you and take your money for application if your aren’t a fresh student.

Look for bios of the residents and see if you can parse it together. Schools that ask for undergrad transcripts, DAT scores, or letters from the Peds faculty or chair at your dental school are big red flags to previous practicing applicants.

Also, never go into the interview with confidence because you worked. They literally couldn’t hate anything more. They will ask you time after time if you are teachable and willing to bend and work and follow chain of command. If they sniff that you feel it’s better to have worked than to be a fresh grad they will drop your aye ess ess.

Every program fears the thirty or forty something year old with experience who doesn’t listen, is pushy to attendings, or over confident and is not teachable or thinks they already know it all.

Residency is like dental school 1.1. It is immensely more like dental school than working. Just go into it knowing that.

Do what you want, but these are things I wish I’d known.

Every year there are way too many people giving way too much thought to the 2x2 photo. Programs really only use them to put a face with an application after interviews when they are formulating their rank list. Just send a small photo with you looking happy.
