She responded to my inquiry about NBDE and DAT scores with the following (literally all that the email said):

"Copies of scores are ok to send"

So, I sent a copy of everything.
Omg she's confusing...she told me to give her email to the ADA to send official scores lol!

Yeah... putting it on the front page of a CV would be a little odd (although I know that some people like doing that)... But, that's why I made it its own page at the end so it's not really "part" of my CV. When the schools download my app it will just look like a separate page mixed in with everything else, haha

Just check with PASS about that "revised CV" section. I just don't know if when you upload something there if it then prevents schools from seeing your original CV that you uploaded. I tried to email PASS but didn't get a reply. Just offering a little warning in case you planned to used the "revised CV" upload for something other than a CV revision.
Good point about whether the "revised CV" will overwrite the original CV. Ah, the joys of navigating residency application!

UGH.

Hopefully she will accept my printouts... But, I'll have this screenshot ready for when she tells me I need to send in official

The revised CV does not overwrite the original CV. Made that mistake. So stupidly, schools will see both the original CV and revised CV PDFs. So be careful about what PDFs you upload, there is no way to remove them.

Hey guys! Those of you who applied to langone, did you submit anything beside the pass ? Like fees, 2x2 etc .. I'm applying to 8 schools and somehow I picked all the schools that have additional supplental fees ! Smh

No, they are for sure just PASS and thats it. It feels unsettling though, haha

Did anyone apply to the on-site UIC Externship ? Did anyone hear they were invited for the Externship yet ?

I didn't know they were offering in-person visits. The website says that on-site visits are not possible this year and to sign up for a virtual externship (which have passed).

Has there been a change in policy?
Yes , they sent out a notice to anyone that participated in the virtual open house with a variety of dates for an on-site Externship

I'm on a budget and already thinking about how much apps will cost (next cycle)... can anyone tell me how much they've spent so far? How about per program, are there supp fees? I am thinking to apply ~15 programs...

I am currently putting in the programs I want to apply to and I selected all the NYU langone programs, does anyone think thats a stupid idea? I feel like if I won't get accepted into 1 of them they will not accept me into any other ones.. or does each program look at different stuff?

I keep track of every penny I spend on applications. Here is what I have (which obviously can differ based on the programs you select).

1) Pass Application Fee: $195 for the first school and $89 for subsequent schools = $1,441
2) Match Registration Fee: $95
3) Sending dental school transcripts: depending on your school policies - $0-$10
4) Requesting undergrad official transcripts for you to copy and put into your app: $10-$20
5) NBDE or DAT score request (most programs do not require official DATs though so make sure to check): $45 each
6) Mailing stuff certified with tracking: $8 each
7) Supplementals (most schools don't have a supplemental fee but of the ones that do this is the range I saw): $25 - $100

8) Interview clothing

9) Flights
10) Hotels
11) Rental cars/Uber/Lyft
12) Food

I had NO money when I was applying to dental schools so I just slept in my rental cars, got free trial days at local gyms, and I showered/got ready, haha! So, there is that option as well. 🤣

Hope this helps.

I was told that they all consider applications separately.

Apparently there is the main dude over all the programs and he is stationed at NYU Langone in New York... But there are local directors in charge of a few programs in their geographical area (not just peds, but all the other programs they offer, too). So, I don't think there is a problem applying to all.

Good luck.

how do I know what each residency requires me to turn in? I keep seeing different things for different schools and I am not sure where the official stuff is

Thank you for this! Do you expect to spend over 5k this cycle overall?

If it makes you feel better -I am Canadian and I have to pay in Canadian currency so everything cost way more
😢

For NYU Langone you just need to turn in the PASS application and thats it.

As for other programs, some will add all the stuff they need from you into the application so you can turn it in there and others will require some stuff to be mailed or emailed.

Best thing to do it look on the "PASS program search engine" (just google that phrase and it'll come up). Most schools update their website and that pass search engine.

That being said, to be 100% certain, you'll need to contact each program individually and make sure that what you are reading is what is correct and they will give you the final answer.

Thank you for this! Do you expect to spend over 5k this cycle overall?

I guess that depends on the interviews I get. I am only applying to 7-8 schools. If I get interviews at more than 1/2 of them and they all require travel then I will probably hit over 5k. I have 6k saved for everything right now and don't plan on going above it.

how am I supposed to upload my dental school diploma to these programs when I haven't even graduated yet?

When putting in extracurriculars and all that, are you guys finding out the exact date you started and ended a club? I feel like the times and hours they ask for are so specific when I just attended meetings once a month...
I tried my best... I honestly just made sure all the dates between my CV and the dates I put in the app agreed with each other. As for hours, I just thought about the total hours I probably worked and then worked backwards using the total weeks I was involved over they years. I agree with you that it is VERY specific for some activities...

They do not expect you to upload a diploma if you have not graduated.

Does anyone have info about whether we need to send a 2x2 for VCU? It says so on their ADEA PASS school page and I emailed them a week ago to clarify but didn't get a response back. Thanks!

For those of you who are applying to University of FL , how do you get your Nbde score to upload ? It asked in the supplemental to upload personal.statement and nbde result , I have already requested my scores to be submitted directly to adea pass but I dont think I can specifically apply to the Fl if that section is not fully completed?🤔
how do you request your score to be submitted directly to ADEA pass? and do those scores get shown to all the schools you are applying to?

When you log into the site and request to send your scores they give you a few pre-set options. "ADEA PASS" is one of them. And yes, all schools will be able to see if you passed - if you failed or you took your test prior to 2012, the schools will be able to also see your actual scores.

I took mine before 2012 and ADEA Pass can’t upload them. I have to contact each program and ask them if it is ok for me to send it to then directly?

Oh, yeah, tests from before 2012 are not accepted by PASS. You should check the PASS search engine:

There is a part that says "applicant must send official NBDE scores to program: Yes/No". I would call the schools that say "yes" on the PASS search engine for sure. As the neurotic person that I am though, I would 100% contact every single program I am applying to.

Anyone els got this email that NYU Langone, AK is not accepting any 2022 applicant? They gave me a coupon to apply somewhere els!!

Whoa! Well, I guess no snowshoeing to work every morning for you

I wonder if that is what they are doing with Phoenix as well? Both Alaska and Phoenix are missing from the "add a program section"...

😂 true ! From what you saying I think Phoenix might be next..oh well !

Another question about photos. Some school say "send a 2x2x style photograph"...

Are you all sending just a square photograph that doesn't have formatted dimensions or are you sending a photo that when printed in their offices will be 2"x2"?

I can't find a formatting option online that makes just a single 2x2 photo and doesn't degrade the quality of the photo badly...

I essentially just cropped my d1 headshot to be the dimensions of 2x2 without re-formatting/re-sizing, which is an option in adobe. But I know classmates that simply sent their unaltered grad/d1 headshots, so I don’t think it really matters.

Speaking of photos..how do you guys dealing with some programs asking for the photo to be emailed and some want us to upload it to PASS on our CV.. like i already had my CV and had to re-upload one with my 2x2 ..i don't think it's a big deal but my application looks odd now!

I had the same issue and just got a new passport photo from walgreen and it was 2x2 by default .. I just got so annoyed trying to resize my school headshot lol

Hello, my year is the first year to take the INBDE and we are taking it in mid October, I was wondering if I need to email schools since it is past the deadline and it will be ok to not have the scores in right away? Thank you to anyone who has heard anything

Is there any benefit in submitting applications early? I haven't gotten 2/4 LOR's but I'm getting antsy... Should I just submit them and will PASS just alert the schools once they get the other 2 LOR's?

Does anyone know why we have to submit our personal statement to each school program section? CAn't they just go to our application and see it anyways?

Also, for headshots, is a plain background a safe way to play? I have a headshot but there is greenery in the background

I just received my ADAT Score: 540 overall
Biomedical: 620
Clinical science:510
Research:460
What do you guys think of this score?

I don't have an exact answer to this... But, for example, OHSU sent an email out that said "INBDE results must be received by ADEA PASS by January -7, 2022." Not sure how other schools are handling it, but I hope this helps. I would just call and ask each and every school I was applying to if I were in your situation.

Some schools like UIC (for example) have on their websites that they encourage early application... Other schools like OSU (for example) write on their website that no apps are looked at until after the deadline so take your time. the PASS FAQ page says to submit the app before all of your letters are in and your schools will see when the last ones are received.

Some schools in certain programs ask you to write at the end of your PS why you want to go to their school specifically... It's not common though. Also, some students like to tailor their PSs to each school regardless of what the school is looking for which sounds like a TON of work. All the schools I applied to are getting the exact same PS.

Background is up to you. My background is a beige color because I didn't have any white walls with nice lighting available. I think when they say "passport/2x2-style photo" they just mean, we want to see your head and face close up looking straight and less about having a perfectly white background. These photos are for them to spread out pictures on a table and sort their rank list. Don't take my word for it, but I don't think it'll be an issue.

WOOOOO! That's the higher end of what you were hoping for. Congrats! (also, I think they will only help you since you are above the national mean)

I definitely happy that the scorings above 500 but I was shooting for 600 overall lol! I pray this helps my application.

I wouldn’t submit your application until it is complete. I don’t think you will be able to add any additional information after you submit it. Maybe connect with the LOR’s and kindly tell them that deadlines will be approaching soon.

What was your class rank as a percentile? If this score is above that percentile, I suppose it may help a bit. Honestly though, I doubt many programs will give the ADAT any significant weight in their decisions. I took it, did very well, and it wasn’t brought up much at all.

I went to a pass/fail school. I was an average student that’s why I took the ADAT to get a decent score to stand out a little bit lol

It looks like your score puts you around the 72nd percentile. Best of luck to you. The application process is stressful. How many programs are requiring the ADAT this year? Seems like every school that tries to require it changes their mind last minute because it really limits their applicant pool. Aside from endo applicants, hardly anyone takes it.

I have applied to 14 schools this year compared to 4 last year. The schools I have applied to does not require them. I pray for interviews this year and an acceptance

Hello future pediatric residents =) Quick question. Do all programs send you a confirmation email that your application is complete? Should I be concerned If I didn't get an email form a program saying that I am all set?

Hi ,
I have applied to 21 and I have only heard back from 2 requesting my 2x2 picture.

Unfortunately no. So no don’t be concerned if you don’t receive a confirmation.
