I missed a call at 10:41 am...but probably a spam🤐
Depends on the program. Some programs have them others don’t. Answer to the 2nd question is also program dependentAre there waitlists? And if so, are these people informed that they are waitlisted?
I received this as well. Trying not to get my hopes up about it since I haven’t received any other invites, lol. Did anyone else who applied receive this?Anyone else just get an application complete email from UCSF, even though they already sent out interview invites? Could they be sending another round?
Any news from UBC?Is there a forum for ortho residency interview questions?

I didn’t even know there were more than 50 ortho programs..Applied to over 50 programs and got 0 interviews so far. RIP.
Awful. If I was a practice owner, I’d throw an associate’s application in the trash as soon as I saw any of those programs on their resumeYou guys do know that you can just get into Georgia right? They just got approval to increase their class size to 45. Thats the equivalent of almost 12 new programs opening across the country. Not to mention CTOR, both ran by “Hudson Regional Hospital,” nowadays if you want an ortho spot you can have it. Ahhh I love the smell of corporate greed hidden behind the message of access to care, don’t you?
Someone says this every year. The short answer is when considering the difference in overall program costs, it’s way cheaper to spend $10k just applying to every single program with hope of matching, than it is to just go for broke spending $300k+ at Georgia. You guys do know that you can just get into Georgia right? No. But please us know if you hear anythingHas anyone been able to talk to admissions at NSU to ask if they are sending more interviews?
This is just judgmental and pretentious thing to say. They study and work hard just the same as everyone else! It's just more expensive!Awful. If I was a practice owner, I’d throw an associate’s application in the trash as soon as I saw any of those programs on their resume
I get where you are coming from. But I do agree with the person you responded to in the sense that I would be skeptical in hiring someone from those institutes. And not because they went to these schools but some of these graduates have a “take short cut” mentality. An example is a recent grad from GSO advertised himself as board certified when he wasn’t. Not saying everyone that goes to these pay to play schools are like this but some are questionable. This is just judgmental and pretentious thing to say. They study and work hard just the same as everyone else! It's just more expensive!
What's next should we throw away the resumes of all the kids who got into expensive private dental schools.
Just let people enjoy their choices and no need to shame people who didn't have 3.9 gpa and 3 publications but decided to pursue their dream career anyway.
I meant the students don't sit there for 3 years doing nothing. They are studying and working hard in the program. There is nothing easy, but I didn't even know this about them not accepting govermental loan which is insane and of course it's a greedy thing that programs do.45+ didn’t have the GPA and publications or extracurriculars, but they have money as GSO does not accept governmental loans.
How is that hard work? That is pay to play.
I have nothing negative to say about private programs that do allow students to take governmental loan.
GSO is just outright corporate greed, favoring the rich and will destroy the profession.
How many patients a day do these people at GSO get to see? With 36 students per class (soon to be 45)? It has nothing to do with money and everything to do with lack of experience. 108 total residents and they’re already sharing the state with Augusta which is just 1 hour away from Atlanta. Most 2 year residencies don’t have more than 12 total residents, most 3 year residencies don’t have more than 20-24 residents. This is just judgmental and pretentious thing to say. They study and work hard just the same as everyone else! It's just more expensive!

Know your CV and be prepared to answer questions about the unique things you have on there....i.e. research, volunteering activities, anything you wrote in your personal statement, etc. Ortho interviews are much different than dental school interviews. There was a lot less of "Tell me a time you encountered an ethical dilemma and how did you handle it?" and a lot more "So on your application you wrote about volunteering with XYZ organization. Can you tell us more about how you got into that?" and "Your personal statement ended with ABC quote from QRS poet. How do you think this relates to your journey getting to this point?" etc.How is everyone preparing for interviews? Any tips? Most programs don’t have much information on their websites
Thanks so much! I think ONE interviewer asked me something like "Can you describe the growth of the mandible in detail" or something but the rest was all about my personal stuff. Ortho programs are interviewing a very select group of applicants so when you get there, they are really wanting to make sure you are the type of person they want to hang out with for 24-36 months and will get along with the vibes of their program, they arent as worried about "Name your biggest strength and biggest weakness and why" type of stuff.
