I think I wrote on my reply postcard that Duke was my #1 choice (but I don't think I specifically said I would attend if accepted). Come to think of it, I don't think I said those exact words until mid-June. Maybe it was a coincidence that I was accepted soon after that -- I'll never know. But I wouldn't suggest saying that until you are absolutely sure that you would attend if accepted.

hey brandonite, why are you so pessimistic? cheer up, you never know. plus, based on your stats and background, I think you'll get into a great school, be it duke or some other school. man, if you can't get in duke, i dunno what to think about my chances...i'm still waiting too. well, good luck everyone and congrats to all the acceptees!

I would feel a lot more confident if ANYBODY that got 'fake-rejected' last week got accepted this week. So far, it's almost looking like the results last week were the real ones. 🙁 Which isn't good news for me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

doh! got the letter today at my school address...got waitlisted. oh well, hope they take off alot of people off this year. my online status didn't change last week if anyone was wondering. well good luck to everyone no status change doesn't necessarily mean rejection (unless you think a waitlist is equivalent to a rejection)!

Congrats shoudygrille! And this is good news for us too Brandonite! It means that although our status didn't change online last week we still at least have a chance at being waitlisted (but hopefully accepted!)! Don't lose hope!

Hmmm I just called Duke and the lady looked up my application and said that no decision has been made yet, and no letter was mailed out to me on the 15th. She said something will go out this Friday for me and the last few people.
Well considering that I had a "fake" acceptance last week, what are my chances for admission? Has anyone who interviewed on March 1 got an acceptance letter yet? I think a previous poster, EC, had this situation where the site said they got in on the 13th, and they called to confirm on the 14th and got a "no decision made yet" response, but still ended up getting accepted in the Friday 15th batch. I now think the reason Duke had to retract ALL the acceptances people saw on the site on the 13th was because only a very few were premature or made in error (like mine!) - most will pan out to be an acceptance. So good luck those still waiting! 🙂

BTW, who were you, Zulq? I mean, it should have been reasonably obvious that I was the Canadian guy with a green suit who went to Brandon University... I think we both interviewed March 1st.

I just called Duke and they also told me that no decision had been made yet. It looks like the message was a false alarm in some cases. Another interesting note, the lady said that she doubted the website would be updated tomorrow in my case. I interviewed on the last day, so it looks like those of us near the end have even more than one more day to wait.

TommyGunn, I figured it out. We haven't received our letters yet because they have to be delivered by UPS. They contain multiple scholarship offers, plane tickets, and letters signed by the Dean, the CEO of the hospital, and the entire Duke basketball team.

We haven't received our letters b/c they haven't mailed them yet! Yes, for people without any letter yet, we seem to be part of an *unofficial* 3rd batch that will go out this Friday, or even later than that - for those who interviewed really late (Hockeytown also). And it seems we are still under consideration, and some of us might get in (I hope!) 🙂
But since bots just got in and still has no letter, Duke is abandoning all protocol at this point and accepting and notifying randomly as they go 😀

Zulq, I'd think you were right except that I was told over the phone the other that my letter indeed WAS mailed out already in the last batch (I assume this means last Friday, unless they for some reason sent some out after that date). So unless I was lied to, my letter is just taking a LONG TIME to get here!!! ahhhh! I hope it's because it's a big fat acceptance package that takes longer to travel by mail than a slim rejection letter! :wink: <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

by the way...they lied about the letters all going out last Friday. My letter was postmarked Monday, the 18th. No wonder it didn't get here until today!

My question is, does anyone know how many students typically get accepted off the waitlist before May 15th? I thought basically NO ONE did, but the waitlist letter from Duke made it sound like quite a few will be accepted in the next couple of months. Any thoughts?

hey brandonite, I just called the admissions office. They say that the status site isn't "up" yet, and that all decisions WILL be posted regardless of when the letter was sent. Now that I think of it, they didn't say that that would definitely be today. doh. I didn't tell her that I knew some people's status had already been posted. 😕 getting super antsy!!!!!!
