OFFICIAL "March 29" THREAD!!

Hey everyone,

So, tomorrow is the day when schools have to send out acceptances to fill their class..... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

How does this work? I never new 3/29 was a big day in all this. Does anyone know which schools will be affected by this, ie- who's classes aren't full yet?

Is 3/29 up there with 3/15 and 5/15?

3/29 is Good Friday and we get holiday leave.. are you sure it'll be tomorrow?

i'm not quite sure what this date is for. i have heard back from all of the schools i've interviewed at. I even got off the wake waitlist.

I've never heard of a March 29th date in regard to medical school.

I just looked it up on the AAMC website. Here is what they said.

By March 15 of the year of matriculation, each school of medicine should have issued a number of acceptances at least equal to the size of its first-year entering class. [Note: For the 2002 entering class this date has been extended to March 29, 2002.]

My big question being which schools are not full and will they be doing some massive accepting tommorow? I sure hope so.

Remember that March 15 date? Well, a few weeks ago another poster on SDN updated us all that March 15 deadline has been extended to March 29...I assumed that you all knew that! I guess I was wrong. Anyways, yeah, tomorrow is the day that all schools must have sent out enough acceptances to fill their incoming class, which is why many schools are sending out "stuff" tomorrow (like Harvard, I think Yale, others...)

I believe it is supposedly the AAMC deadline to give initial offers of acceptances....

I heard it was moved to April 15th this year though....

Although unlikely, I hope med schools are as advanced procrastinaters as I am and will send out many acceptances.

Some med schools hold off to the last possible minute to meet the deadlines...what are they waiting for? Harvard probably knew the day they received my application that they would reject me and yet the waited to today to let me know!
