Does anyone know when the next round of acceptances starts?

Hello all! Congrats to those newly accepted to become UMB columns (sorry to inform you we are not Maryland Terps and officially have no real mascot). I am a D4. Reach out with any questions! I would say I have been helpful to others in the past

I interviewed on November 7th, but still have not heard anything back. should I be worried? Also, for the people that are speaking of "calling Admissions," what do you really ask even if you decide to call? (Random question, sorry)

They have another batch of acceptances coming soon so I would just wait until then

How do you know if they have another batch of acceptances coming soon? Do you mean after the first deposit, which is a month away from now?

I was looking at the textbook listings and I was just wondering how much you actually need the "required" textbooks and if you need to get the "recommended" ones.
Should I purchase all of the "required" ones? My mom is saying when she was in med school she read a fraction of all her books and that it was mostly the powerpoint slides.. haha

It is almost ALL powerpoints haha. I would hold off and buy used from people selling theirs. Maryland is super tech savvy so invest in a good computer, not books

Edit: typo fixed

Please see part of my first ever post on SDN below. Send an email after your semester is over expressing interest and give any updates. Maryland gives tons of acceptances after Dec. A lot of people are accepted through March/April and people drop out last minute. You are still in until you receive a rejection and it is just the beginning of the acceptance period. If you have not heard by Spring Break, send another email only at that time.

Some people who paid first deposits may not pay the final deposit, thus freeing up their seat.

Be patient!!! Don't call Admissions every other day to ask your status. It can negatively impact their decision. It can be perceived as annoying; the saying "squeaky wheel gets the oil" does not apply in this situation; it's more "squeaky wheel gets replaced." I being honest and lighthearted. I apologize in advance if it came off as harsh. I do suggest sending ONE e-mail with any updates ASAP if you have not yet done so. This update should allow you to reaffirm your interest in the school and thank them for considering you.

Just turned down my interview offer I received a few days ago that was scheduled for Feb 13. Hopefully one of you guys who have not heard yet get this opportunity! Best of luck, everyone

Reading that some people received acceptances today should I expect to not hear back from UMB tomorrow? I interviewed mid-August and have yet to receive any word on my status and I personally thought I did well on my interview. But everyone else on my interview day said the same thing so...

Will they not continue to send acceptances out tomorrow?

Did anyone else find it odd how good looking the dental students at UoM Baltimore were? At most other schools I feel like I saw a spectrum in terms of looks but UoM struck me. Also, they were the only school that I interviewed at that takes a picture of you right when you sign in...

Accepted today at 3pm! I still can't believe it! (I interviewed November 7)

Does anyone know if we need to do the background check for Maryland?

Just curious how do dental students study? like in undergrad, we had to buy books for all courses, read the chapter material before class and take notes on it, come to class, and study more classnotes. With dental school, where can you find a list of textbooks you need? Are we required to buy textbooks for each courses (I am concerned because I saw online that one semester is around 30 credits -- that is a lot of books!!)

But I heard from another current student here that Maryland mostly uses powerpoint slides rather than textbooks
